You last two videos have been excellent for drawing in public. Thanks for the measurement tips, I had never thought to do that as people tend to move so unexpectedly. Thank you for sharing this advice.
Thanks Sir! I learnt the way you draw and enjoying it a lot. But instead of watercolor wash I m using color pencils. But effect is great. Thanks again.
These are proportioned out so well ...just amazing. However, I feel it would be so much easier to use pencil and eraser. I like when you color them in, as well.
2023 resolution: keep a sketch journal of things I mostly see in public. I'm a beginner, but these videos are putting me at ease. I am kind of perfectionist by nature, but it's sinking in that these are just sketches and by definition are not meant to be perfect.
@@SketchingScottie Those are great! We are seeing a lot of artists use fountain pens with special, fountain-safe India ink, too, with a piston converter instead of cartridges. (Always check ink compatibility with your brand of pen though)
Hi, Can you doa video on Hairs ? I always fidn it messy to draw curly or wavy hairs or how to actully draw the volume of hair without overdoing it and that too for short sketches where we onlly draw simple and minimal lines like you are doing.
brilliant,i see lot of artists are now using ink over pencil, also sketching with outlines, is a great way for a beginner to start sketching but with a pencil you can wipe out if you make a mistake will ink wipe out?cheers
Thanks Jackie! No but you can cover them up with some white acrylic marker (Posca). With this loose and expressive sketching style we encourage embracing mistakes as part of the sketch although it's good to fix mistakes on the face 👍🏼😊
Yes it is really hard to find! I search pexels.com for my references because I can use them in videos copyright free. But it takes a while to find them. Once I find a good reference there are often good suggestions under the image on the website. I also use Pinterest and search for 'candid photos' or similar just for practice. Hope that helps! 😊
Hi Im Sure you get asked this alot but can you recommend an inexpensive wash for beginners and what type of paper thanks again for the tutorials. Your art is very cool.
I actually started using my daughters solid water colours 😊. Those circular discs of paint in a tray with lots of colours. Not very classy but seemed to work really well for a wash. You will probably need heavier paper that is 200gsm at least when you start (300gsm is recommended when you can spend a bit more). The Kuretake watercolours I’m using here are really nice but not crazy expensive if you are looking for something slightly better quality. But I also recommend those Windsor newton Cotman watercolour sets. You can get a set in a nice plastic box and are great value. Hope that helps!

Glad it was helpful!
Those point references are very helpful for getting the proportions, but this will need a lot of practice in my case!
yes especially with more challenging figures like this!
Amazing dude!! I always wanted to work on my figures sketching. Looks like I have found perfect place for that.😊
Very inspiring, I want to run to my sketch book and start drawing!!!

Nice! The Uni-Ball pen is thrifty and effective, but we wonder if you have a preferred brand for pigmented or India ink sketching pen?
Thanks Blick team! I have used Sakura fine liners and Pentel Fude brush pens with a lot of my earlier work. Do you guys have any suggestions?

@@Blick_Art thanks for the tip! I would like to try a fountain pen at some point👍🏼

I try to just sketch just the outline of the hair without much detail as my sketches are quite small 👍🏼
Dayum!
👌👌👌

hey mate, where do you get your references from? I'm trying to get better at sketching but i don't know the search terms
Try Pexels.com my favourite place and when you find a nice photo visit the photographers collection to find more like that 👍🏼
How can your make it look so easy?
Where do you find your references? I struggle to find references with casual poses

@@SketchingScottie Hello sir, can you please attach the links of your reference images ( or similar) in the description box? 🙏🙏
@@srabantisaha9285 Yea sure you can find them here (free): www.patreon.com/posts/references-for-2-72009324?Link&
I use magazines, catalogues, & the mannequins in shop windows are my favorite, but I'm old fashioned and love fashion.
Hi I'm new subscriber...can you keep these references as a link below to use for our practice please ☺️🙏
Welcome Sujanith! Yes you can find them here (free): www.patreon.com/posts/references-for-2-72009324?Link&
Start in ink? Not pencil?
ink forces you to commit, and worry less about fixing "mistakes"
yes I agree with TB, with this sketching style it helps keep everything loose and free
❤️❤️❤️💜
