    Thanks a bunch for the video you made about your wood drop box you made. I have a few Birmingham rollers and they were very skittish about going in my trap, which I made using dowels. Today I made the wooden (like yours) and the birds go in with very little hesitation.

    If old birds fly away they could go back to the owner if it is more than a mile away because recently i just bought a some rollers and one went back to the owner 3 miles away.nice pigeons mate keep it up.😃

      Abdul Mojid thankyou...Yes older birds do sometimes find their way back to the old loft, a friend of mine got some birds off a guy around 10 miles away, one of them went back twice when he let them out. Cheers.

      I fell in love with a family of pigeons and them just learning for a couple months they keep having babies but this baby Lefton nest last night and can't fly yet in the mom and dad left and it's sleeping on the cement by my door I don't know what to do can you advise? I made a box for it and put it in there but it left right away and appears very scared. And also it will not eat on its own it once its mother too feed it still I'm expecting the mother to come back in the morning and feed it I hope

    Hello,
    Thank you for sharing this wonderful information, Sir.
    @3:25, can you mix in some regular pigeons that do home with your rollers? I'm thinking that would work well - thoughts anyone?
    @5:17, if 'Painter's Tape' is sold in your area - or go to amazon.com (absolutely everything is available there!), it barely adheres, I think it would be marvelous. Wrapped around once, I think it would stick to itself well.

    How long do leave the bands on the flights? Do you take them off each time they come in?

    • @LozHarrop
      @LozHarrop  8 років тому +1

      you can leave the bands on until the birds are ready to fly free just take one or two off at first and they all wont fly off at once the birds without bands can now fly but wont go too far hopefully and will come back to land with the other banded birds.

    Hiya Loz. I know nothing about pigeons, hope you can enlighten me. We get a lot of wood pigeons and one has a ring on it's leg. It hangs out with the others and isn't a racer as far as I can tell. We don't have flocks of racing pigeons circling at all. Will it be one that's got lost and found a new family?

    • @LozHarrop

    Nice video as always Loz. Saturday I will try to let out my first 4 rollers. Just watched your video for the last details. My boxes aren't still ready but I prepared a temporary box. It is a mix between box and flight case. The birds already drop in in a 4" hole in a flight case. Made it 4" regarding your 45 degrees tubes.
    Tomorrow I will make a little video of the trapping and I will send it to you.
    Thanks my friend for sharing all your experiences. By the way your birds are very clean. Got some problems with diarrhea a week ago. Now only one of them still has a little but the birds look awful. The strange thing that the got some medicine to avoid this. I changed the water, suspect it is from de chlorides in water from the tap. At the moment it is a lot better
    Lozz, a video about this kind of this things would be a big help for all the new people with rollers. Laurence as you know I have experience with pigeons but this are different. Normally a pigeon likes maize, this ones leave it. Even broken maize. At least my ones.
    OK my friend, we will be in touch.

    • @LozHarrop
      @LozHarrop  9 років тому

      Adrianus P.M. Heersche I think the birds Diarrhea problems are due to stress being in the open box but you can get that sorted out easily, cider vinegar at one tablespoon per litre of water is very good for their digestion too. I will try to get the next video up this week already injected my birds so will include that in the video. Cheers.

      Craig Denley Hi Craig, I want to reduce the size of my flying kits so I do have some birds spare, where abouts in the UK are you. Cheers.

      Its held on with some silicone, the ones on the wire fronts are just wedged in tight on the wires.

    BEAUTIFUL Birds!!! and your Traps/Cages are very nice! I have always loved Pigeons, but they multiply soooo fast! LOL We used to catch them at the local high school and then pen them for up to 3 months before we let them out, but living in the Piney Woods of Texas ... Raptors were quick about getting them. I had a pair of Rollers, but I find out that they were both hens b/c none of the eggs were fertile. Anyway, THANK YOU so much for your videos! I just came across your channel and subscribed!

      Thanks, yes the raptors are the worst part of keeping flying birds
