    I wish I was young and healthy like you. I am 70 years old, with degenerative disc disease. I flip furniture to make ends meet with my social security income, but can only work in 30 minute increments then I need to lie down to ease my back pain. Slowly but surely I get them done. You are an inspiration to me, and I love your work!

    Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

    Laura, you are such an inspiration and I'm addicted to your videos ! Neiman you also are awesome ! So funny and charming and I can't imagine all the hard work that goes into doing these videos, on top of your helping Laura with some of her peices. I am in awe of all of your beautiful work, Laura, and I think I have found my new passion. I'm going to go back to your Back To Basics video that I started last night before I start on any of my furniture. But I am so excited to have discovered you and Neiman. Keep up the amazing work !

    You two make a great team! I see folks that have to do all of it and it’s really hard! They film the project and THEN they have to edit it too! Neiman is a real pro! Just wanted to give him so well deserved credit.
    Gorgeous pieces. I never liked French provincial because I thought it was too frilly. But these pieces have changed my mind. I suppose the fake white ones with gold everywhere insulted my view? Lol

    • @angelagenx6629
      @angelagenx6629 3 роки тому +2

      I know exactly what French provincial furniture you’re talking about! The white always seems to yellow with time making it look worse. The shape of the furniture is what redeems it. I hope I can get my hands on one of those pieces someday, there would be zero painter’s remorse in covering up the ugly finish.

      @@angelagenx6629 I unfortunately had this furniture growing up. I was a tomboy through and through. My bedroom was pink, with rose curtains with French provincial canopy bed and the whole bedroom set. My mom looooooved it! Lol

    • @angelagenx6629
      @angelagenx6629 3 роки тому +2

      @@lesliejohnson7247 I had something similar, not the canopy, but a matching beige-y yellow headboard, tall dresser, and night stand. It had these carved flowers on it. It wasn’t a French provincial style, still girly though with that strange finish. I hated them too, mostly because of the color and the flowers looked like they belonged in a baby’s room. When my son was 6 and I was pregnant with my daughter, I went on a furniture painting spree! I painted everything I could get my hands on. I ended up spackling over the hideous flowers and painting the two pieces a navy blue in latex😳 for my son’s room. It’s been 12 years and they still look great. Wish I knew about painting furniture when I was a teen!
      My mom also loved the French provincial style and anything “Victorian”. I inherited her wood French provincial long dresser, (very similar to the one Lauren painted) and headboard. I look at it everyday, imagining what it would look like painted, but I won’t be able to bring myself to do. It’s a family heirloom now, so I will leave it as is. Too bad it’s not the white one like you had, it would have been painted ages ago😂

  • @angelagenx6629

    Here’s a tip with the gilding wax, it’s oil based and will clean up with mineral spirits. It does need to cure around 48 hours before painting over it with something water based. You did a really nice job with the set, it looks very pretty and professional.

    Thank you for your detailed explanations and demonstrations. I enjoy watching and learning from you. For about 40 years my husband and I have my grandparents French provincial bedroom set. I was a child when they bought it new. I remember the satisfaction it gave them to purchase it. Over the years I’ve thought about refinishing it. I wish I could. Maybe in the future I will be able to with help. I was thinking about just cleaning it with the white lightning and just cleaning and painting the hardware to freshen it up. Thanks again for effectively teaching and demonstrating how to give new life to beautiful old things.

    I bought that exact bedroom suit in 1982 or 1983 from a furniture store in Houston, Texas. I want to say it was Star Furniture, but can’t remember for sure. I even had the mirror to attach to the long dresser and a queen headboard. After moving that heavy stuff numerous times, I sold pieces in a garage sale and gave away what didn’t sell around 2002. Wish I still had it now.

    Such beautiful pieces & only one Benjamin?! Jackpot! I’m trying not to even look at Marketplace. I have 3 pieces of my own to work on. My hubs bought matching end tables, at a yard sale. I’m okay with that because I have almost everything I need to do all the work needed. Now I have to get them finished before I can start my own projects. I have gained a great deal of confidence since I finished my first piece. YOU Lauren, helped me get here. I am grateful that you share your knowledge with us.
    I have a good tip about your paint jars, primer jars, etc… You can put Vaseline around the outer top edge, where the lids screws on, to keep the lids from getting stuck. You probably already know that though. Thank you for getting me through the nerve wracking process of just not knowing what to do. You’re the best! 💕

    I like how they turned out!! You need to get a smaller detail brush to do the detailing with the gilding paint . Great job have a nice day.

    Thanks for all your videos. I was inspired by your last French Provincial set & I was lucky enough to find a long dresser & nightstand for $60. I’m in the process of cleaning them & I got the buttercream color. Now to start spraying.

    I live in Orlando, and people are not paying top money on facebook marketplace for furniture painted beautifully, its more like people pay standard prices...no matter how nice it is an average dresser $100-125, end tables never more than $75 each and to get $75 beach they would have to be really gorgeous and a contemporary style and painted in contemporary paint. For a low dresser with 6-8 drawers you might get $200 or $250 but only if a mirror is included. A bedroom set with bed, end tables and high/low dressers , if its amazing you might get $500 and same with a dining room set, if its painted gorgeous you might get $500. I've painted for years and glazes, stains, bleaching and all these techniques do make the furniture look updated but overall people I've found people are cheap and they want everything for practically free.

    Beautiful result!
    I think I would use a small scrub brush when doing the cracks/crevices in the initial clean - it saves your fingertips!

    I have a set like this but the tall dresser is different. I have just found your videos and am very inspired to start doing my own furniture flips! Love all your work and how you take the time to explain things. I wasn't crazy about the look of my set but really want to try to redo it after this video! ❤

    I'm glad I watched this as I've just bought a Wagner 690 but it only has a standard spray bottle and the fine detail one is now 45 quid. I wish they would bring out a set for furniture as I've now bought a system with neither gun suitable for what I want to do and no option is available for furniture it's all aimed at fences and painting walls
