This is the Pistols at their most rawest in the studio. The band are at the top of their game and they're just really jamming. That guitar sound is incredible especially when it changes into Roadrunner👍
Ha ha, who said that they couldn't play? Wish I could play guitar like Steve Jones.! Absolute master of the strings and that was 46 years ago, where has all that time gone? 😕
Hi Alan Always loved the join The beat slows down and they all stay in perfect time. Not bad for a band that couldn't play....HA HA. must comment on Glens bass playing...flows with perfection.
I only knew this version when I was a kid, I never realized how funny it is when John starts mixing up the lyrics to every Modern Lovers song. "What's the first line?" "1-2-3-4-5-6...."
When I first heard this song at a radio show I renounced to my violin lessons, became a punkrocker and now too I enjoy the music that was generated in that period by this astonishing generation. Thank you possesed by good music !
Ill never forget spending 40 dollars on this record as an import...way back when it came out. 15-16 year old working full time in the summer...living home rent free...I just HAD TO get this album! And still have it to this day in my collection :)
I hadn't heard this for a thousand years and I was driving home and all of a sudden it came up in my playlist of music I had on my phone. Awesome!!! I forgot how fun these guys were.
Well, considering he got to re-record them 2 years later, they should be "professional". Though the original demo session was in 1976, Cook & Jones overdubbed new drums & guitar in 1978 for the Swindle soundtrack. They did a good job with it though. Never would realize that Rotten & Matlock weren't even there in the studio, unless you hear the original session track.
The whole lot's fcking brilliant, makes me laugh. I fckng love it. steve jones and paul cook and whoever's on bass do really well. 'If you can see, oh god fck off', lmao. 'tortcha'. 'der ugg' 'der ugg', 'I dunno the words'. 'er yaya yaya ya', love it. It's fcking great.
It’s moments like this here in what made these boys so friggin’ great to listen to! So badly wish I could’ve had the chance to see em on their ‘96 reunion tour!
I'll never forget driving to a record shop in Baltimore with my cousin in 1984 and buying The Swindle on vinyl for 125 bucks. That's how rare it was. It wasn't released here at the time.
Sorry my friend but they were commercial and defeated the cause, they sold out. you want to listen to punk try the Clash or Stiff Little Fingers. is it any wonder why the pistols imploded after only 3 years+ a few months? yet the Clash split after 10 years the SLF spit years after the punk era ended same with the stranglers..i rest my case.
Thanks for posting this, I was bought this album for my 16th birthday by my parents who then asked me to play it to them. Lol. Cheers have a good life. :)
Their version of "Johnny B. Goode" is less than half the length of Judas Priest's version.. and doesn't even have any legitimate lyrics aside from the words "Johnny B. Goode" yet it is so much better and so much more in the vein of Chuck Berry's original than Judas Priest's version!

And the neon when it's cold outside
And the highway when it's late at night

Suburban trees, suburban speed
And it smells like heaven
