This is the Pistols at their most rawest in the studio. The band are at the top of their game and they're just really jamming. That guitar sound is incredible especially when it changes into Roadrunner👍

      Always loved the join
The beat slows down and they all stay in perfect time. Not bad for a band that couldn't play....HA HA.
must comment on Glens bass playing...flows with perfection.

    • @fordcountry420

Well, considering he got to re-record them 2 years later, they should be "professional". Though the original demo session was in 1976, Cook & Jones overdubbed new drums & guitar in 1978 for the Swindle soundtrack. They did a good job with it though. Never would realize that Rotten & Matlock weren't even there in the studio, unless you hear the original session track.

Their version of "Johnny B. Goode" is less than half the length of Judas Priest's version.. and doesn't even have any legitimate lyrics aside from the words "Johnny B. Goode" yet it is so much better and so much more in the vein of Chuck Berry's original than Judas Priest's version!

    The real lyrics:
Deep down Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play the guitar just like a ringing a bell
    Go go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Johnny B. Goode
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Oh, the engineers would see him sitting in the shade
Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made
People passing by they would stop and say
Oh my that little country boy could play
    Go go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Johnny B. Goode
His mother told him "Someday you will be a man,
And you will be the leader of a big old band.
Many people coming from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name will be in lights
    Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight."
    Go go
    Go Johnny go
    Go go go Johnny go
    Go go go Johnny go
    Go go go Johnny go
    Go
    Johnny B. Goode

Jones & Cook actually overdubbed the guitar & drum parts in 1978, though the original recording was early in 1976. Johnny's vocal & Glen Matlock's bass were the original, as obviously neither of them were in the band when this soundtrack album was being assembled. The original recording without the overdubs can be heard here ---> ua-cam.com/video/IdeHDywuJC0/v-deo.html
