Madonna reaction, First time hearing Over And Over
G'day it's Steven from Down Under again
ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF POP!
Yes, Over and over is such a simple and straightforward message that we can hardly associate it with other work done later. It's a song that said goodbye to great pretensions, it seems that we should just take the message and have fun with it.
And of course everyone forgets that she is basically singing with Disco legends Chic as her band.
If you think Blond Ambition was out there, she gets even more experimental and confrontational in the years after.
Fantastic choice. I have been enjoying these authentic reactions - your journey as you discover her music.
When you get a chance, please react to “Physical Attraction,” which is on her debut album. I am also adding my voice to the choir of people who are suggesting that you watch her first tour.
You just need to do her whole 1st and 2nd concert tours. Both from the 80s which is your jam. The Virgin Tour (1985), every song was a single including this song released in Italy; and Who's That Girl (1987).
I actually really love this song. I would just say it can definitely be edited down. There’s no need for it to be over 4mins 😂
I love that you’re exploring more of Madonna’s music. I’m not sure how you’re deciding which songs to listen to, but I would definitely recommend that you start at the beginning and move forward, just so you can hear her incredible evolution for yourself. It will also help if you decide to check out some of her albums from the 90’s and beyond. Being able to see how she got from A to B to C to D and so on… But any way you decide to do it, I’ll be here for it! She is the Queen 👑
you should watch the virgin tour where she sings this live.. it was her first ever arena tour from the like a virgin era..
I always thought the Virgin Tour was a theatre tour, not arena? I just looked it up on wiki and it was a mixture of both.
Please go back and react to the Virgin tour, her first. This song is in the set list too.
It's a cute filler track from her second album, "Like a Virgin," very spunky and inspirational. It perfectly fits her personality at the time. She has always been a gutsy, hardworking, and confident person, especially in her early years when she was striving to become a star.
It was also released as a promotional single in Italy.
@@zanyzander Also in Japan.
Seph, you are full of surprises. I thought for sure you would have put this one in the "too poppy" bucket. But clearly the lyrical message made all the difference. It struck a chord in you, the uplifting message. In the face of adversity one can pick oneself up and try again. Try to fix it. You get loads of chances.
Did this go on your "happy" playlist? Would you share your "happy" playlist with me?
Its not something thats shareable haha i think i use the word *Playlist* incorrectly. It's literally just a bunch of songs that i play when im sad but i haven't actually got a *List* written down of them or anything, they are just memorised. Would be more convenient for me if i put them in a playlist though "But im lazyyyyyyyy" hehe
Madonna started as a dancer, then a punk singer in a band, before releasing her solo debut album in 1983 which was edgy dance-funk-synth-new-wave-pop. It put her on the map. Cut to a year later and her 2nd album Like A Virgin when she exploded as a bona fide pop star, performing the title track at the first VMAs atop a wedding cake in 1984, and stealing the whole film Desperately Seeking Susan out from under her co-stars in 1985. This album was more synth-bubblegum-teenybopper-pop, somehow feeling younger and less adult than her 1st album, but still with racy lyrics. Another year later in 1986 she released her 3rd album True Blue which sent her stratospheric. She was already so famous that she didn't need her name on the album cover, just her face. It was more adult contemporary and grown up pop. Its still her biggest selling studio album with 25 million copies sold worldwide. Best selling album of the year overall, and of the decade (for women). This huge success meant the record company allowed her to take risks, so she ran with it! Experimental Madonna arrived with Like a Prayer in 1989, and except for a couple of trend-following albums (2008's Hard Candy, and 2012's MDNA) she never left. Hail to the Queen.
This is really early Madonna. She didn't really turn into 'Dirty Madonna' until the 90's.
I am not even sure I have heard this one before.
Well, the Like A Virgin performance at MTV VMAs was pretty dirty for the time, also the Open Your Heart video, I mean, come on, a peep show!?
hello, this song live is more cute
This is what you call Experimental music even back than she was a genius
Love that song. All of the non singles and songs she wrote from LAV are better than the singles.
