Shane as GM could be fun. Would actually like to see him vs Darby in some form down the line in like a No DQ match. Shane as on screen GM would also make sense since TK doesnt really want to play a character on TV.
It's time for JR9's NXT round up for Great American Bash 2024 Week 1. Positives: Had to wait for hour 2 for the 1st positive which was the Joe Hendry concert. Joe did great job with his song as he managed to interact with the crowd perfectly. He sang about the chef (HBK) summoning him to NXT, Booker T being president of his fanclub with an image of Booker in a scottish kilt which was great & then moved on to taunting Gallus. 1st singing Joe Coffey claims he's from Scotland but he's the son of Dutch Mantell with a side by side shot on tron of both Dutch & Joe to illustrate it. Then went into the main chorus of the song of, "If you hate Gallus wave your hands in the air, they got deported for having awful facial hair". This worked perfectly as the crowd started to wave their hands & then Joe told them to get involved & clap his hands so foe the last part of the song the crowd continued to clap along with the song. Joe is a good singer aswell so it just came across great on TV. Joe then was about to play his theme song as an Encore but Gallus immediately hit the ring to a lot of heat before they jumped Hendry & Coffey hit Joe over the back with a Guitar. Later on Joe was outside cutting a serious promo on Gallus ruining his night & he challenged Joe to a match next week. Had high hopes for the concert & whilst it was shorter than I expected still did everything it to & was really enjoyable. Hendry just gets pro wrestling & how to get over. Loved how into it the crowd was & then the amount of heat it got Gallus was great as they have had issues getting a reaction at times. Also really glad nobody came out to help as that happens too often when Heels try to attack someone & never helps them out. This was short & effective in building them as villians for the fans to hate. Liked the outside promo with Hendry as it was such a different tone to the concert which shows his range as he can be comical but also passionate when he needs to be. Fantastic stuff & looking forward to the match next week. Jaida Parker got a good showcase in win vs Kendal Gray. Jaida is impressive. Jaida has the mic work for sure & glad to see her putting it together in the ring. If booked properly has a good chance to becoming something in the company. A miracle happened as Jacy, Fallon & Jazmyn won on TV which was desperately needed. Beatibg Lola, Karmen & Sol in a good 6 women tag which showcased everyone. Finish was Jazmyn's Pele kick on Karmen which was followed up by Jacy's discus forearm & Fallons suplex cutter for the win whilst Jacy prevented Lola & Sol breaking it up. This group needed the win after that very baffling bit of booking 1 week after forming with Jacy loss to Lola. Now whether this goes anywhere for them is another thing but definitely a huge positive last night. Jacy now has 3 consecutive wins from a Main Event appearance, to live event & now on NXT TV. Again could be a sign of better booking going forward but will have to wait & see as still don't trust HBK at all. Either way a wins a win so will take it. Sol was the standout from her team last night at one pointing hitting a flawless corkscrew moonsault from the ring to the floor honestly probably the smoothest one I've seen. Sol is spectacular & her future is so damn bright. Same goes for all 5 other ladies in the match who did a great job, making it enjoyable which is hard to do when I usually hate 6 person tags. Rok-C retained in main event vs Thea in a very good match, probably Thea's best performance ever. Had smooth sequences & technical wrestling when it came to transitions from Rok-C crossface into Thea's kimura. Finish saw Rok-C use ropes to roll into middle of ring when Thea looked to be getting there whilst locked in crossface. Rok-C instantly hit Thea with pop rocks after the roll through in a smart finish. Since crossface had been in a few times & didn't get the job done so Rok-C pivoted to something else & got it done. Really good psychology & Thea got a tons of shine even in defeat. Would've had something happen post match to tease Rok-C's next challenger instead of just fading to black with Rok-C celebrating however match quality meant it remained a clear positive even with nothing being immediately setup. Negatives: Show started with awful intro segment with Hank & Tank doing a mission impossible thing to break into PC & turn lights on to arena. Doing like avoiding lasers after turning on an alarm which had nothing to do with the theme of Great American Bash. Not a good 1st impression to viewers highlighting one of the biggest issues NXT has at times too many cringe segments. Need to stop doing them as it's a turn off for viewers. Alba & Isla retained vs Meta Four. Now although I'm high on Alba this is a negative for a couple of reasons 1, it was pointless since Alba/Isla defend vs Belair/Jade on SD so was absolutely no reason to invest since you knew Meta Four had no chance. 2, the setup for the match made no sense as Meta Four won like 1 match in months & just asked for a title shot & got it before Belair/Jade which obviously makes no sense. Final reason even though Alba/Isla won can't really speak to positively when it was probably just given to them as a pity title retain so they can they never lost on 1st defense. Everything about this was a waste of time. Ethan post match to taunted Mensah who was checking on Lash & Jakara. Unfortunately NXT resorted to lame creative for 3rd week as Ethan tried to attack Mensah but avoided it & rolled up Ethan with Lash/Jakara counting an imaginary pinfall again embarrassing Ethan. Can't stand this one bit as it's making Page look like a clown & just doing same thing on 3 separate weeks is lazy. Tony D vs Tavion for Heritage Cup accomplished nothing. Match was fine with Tony retaining but HBK continues to force personality into No Quarter Catch Crew which simply isn't working. They've been getting too much TV time recently. Plus nothing happened to setup a story for Tony after this so ended up just being a random defense. Tony needs his restaurant segments again as that was one the best part of his gimmick. Seems since he got cup they haven't had a plan for him creatively. Brooks Jensen lost to Cedric Alexander via Lumbar Check. Now this made 0 sense as since coming back Brooks has lost 2 out of his 3 matches making his storyline very pointless as he feels even less of a threat than he did before he left. Cedric winning isn't going to go anywhere either since he just lost to Trick so 50/50 booking. Haven't been the biggest fan of the Brooks story but isn't logical to have him lose. Overall: Hour 1 was pretty poor without anything captivating but Hour 2 was complete opposite with really good stuff. Great to see Jacy win, Rok-C continues to have a great reign & Hendry delivered with his concert. Just wish the 1st half of the show was the same quality as that severely let the show down.
One way AEW could introduce Shane is to have him be Bryan Danielson's coach to help him win the AEW title at All In! I mean Shane and Bryan had their history on Smackdown!
I think if daniel bryan and shane mcmahon are heads of creative would be great for aew beacuse they are amazing creative minds , the two could improve aew creative in huges ways
I’ll actually be absolutely shocked if Tony khan managed to have Shane McMahon make a shocking unexpected appearance in AEW all in, if this is what they are planning it’ll be huge. Maybe Shane can work backstage as a enforcer for the creative team, he can be in a story promo between the elite or help Bryan danielson over come the odds of winning the AEW title from swerve. Better yet Shane McMahon vs MJF would literally be one hell of a match for Shane’s last run.
Shane being over in AEW will be a good thing but I have to say I would be lying if I wasn't a little concerned with him being in the ring. AEW has a track record of terrible injuries and even though Shane is willing to do almost anything he isn't spring chicken anymore. I can see him more of a GM or someone who can boost their ratings and interest. Shane should maybe do ONE more match with someone of his choosing but I'm not gonna lie I would be worried to be watching him the whole time.....Also for him 'turning his back on WWE' I don't see it that way. He always had praise for Hunter but he never really got along with him. It will be interesting for sure to see it unfold.....Great vid and as always Keep On Rockin' BC!
People being so harsh on Shane O'Mac is appalling to me. He's not concerned about money, he just wants some nice matches he can live behind after he's gone, while his body may still hold up. He's not coming to AEW to ruin anyone's experience or to bury people, I doubt he would care about being booked as the winner. I really can't blame someone for following their heart, and it should be taken as praise for AEW. Shane feels he can't have his dream match on WWE.
