Amazing! Goodly - You are the best. This particular video is like none other as it focuses on the fundamentals, the underpinnings. You don't dumb it down. You give the average user access to the more powerful aspects of Power Query.
Even after two or three other introductory PQ courses, I still managed to learn something new, and walk away with a better overall understanding of Power Query. Thank you!
Great overview! Thanks so much. Really helped give me the overview I needed to start digging into M. You’ve got great skill at teaching and breaking concepts down into logical pieces.
This is a great video for anyone who wants to get an understanding of the M language. You should watch this presentation first before diving into Power Query. It will make a lot more sense then. Thanks Chandeep.
Very Good Explanation!!! Doubt: How do we get existing column names as suggestions while writing the advanced editor. As I observed, the suggestions are coming when we write in a add new column window. Thanks in advance.
it's easy for an expert to understand the material. the trick is to understand the material, understand the knowledge level of the "student" and explain using words and concepts the "student" can digest. my belly is full.
So far this is one of the best introductory video on M Language. The overview is simple, apt and easy to grasp along with the simplest examples possible. It will be a great help in my Power Query journey. Thanks Chandeep for all your efforts.
Thanks Chandeep for this wonderful video on very basics . May i ask you that your advance editor has intellisence which helps coding very much but i dont ind that in my or default advance editor can you please help in guiding that how can i get the same editor?
Hello, Chandeep! Thank you a lot all your efforts of creating such usefull content! Extremely great content!.. Watched ~30...40 of your videos with PQ techniques. There's still one confusing moment with list function synthax. Let me get this straight: when you define a list yourselt - use curly braces; but when extract it from table - square braces, am I correct?.. This case confused me a lot in "How to think & write complex M easily".. First you used curly braces, but furhter along - square braces)).. Thanks for your time..
Hi Chandeep, first of all, thanks for this video, It is very helpful. Just wanted to know about where I can find at one place which mentions which type of brackets to be used in which scenario. I know that you discussed some of them in the video, however if there are some other combinations, where I can actually find them?
I also came from different scripting languages and M language was just different. The first time I looked at it I got lazy to learn it right away.... Hahahaha.. BUT here I am....
Hello Goodly! I am a big fan of yours and your advices especially for lists worked for me wonders. Let me take this opportunity to ask for a favour. How do we deal with data failing to load to excel yet it’s perfectly loading into power query editor? The error message is « Data initialisation failed « and it recomends to contact the administrator. Second, what slows down the data loading? What are possible means to load data faster?
this video Goodly is truly awesome man! You've very clearly explained the foundations of PQ's advanced editor - you've helped your viewers digest the elements of the language. Bahut Shukriya, Shukran Jazeelan, Thank you very much! Keep doing this man! Best wishes! Big fan! well done!
Thank you - I am working as a Data Analyst, and quite often I use Power Query to help clear up poorly input data from multiple files. It's great to have had an overview like this. Should be a good tool on the belt alongside PowerBI, Dax and SQL.
how to add a column to a table in power Query using M code to capture the alternative(given from a set of alternatives) based on multiple column criterion of the table?
🇧🇷Wow!!! What an excellent beginner's guide class!!! Awesome!!! 🔝🔝🔝 Congratulations!!! Thank you!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I've seen one of your videos about M Code for transformation function. You've shown us a general formula with double curly brackets as arguments of a transformation formula!!! Excellent!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✅🔝👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Bro please need your help! I have a situation I have a column "Style Name" where the is a production description like "Jackets for men" or "Men's Jacket" I need the word mens to be in new column. there colud be long description but I only need to extract "Male, Female, KIDS, etc." how can I do that.
Can’t you change the name with replace value so every name starts the same gender like m(ale) f(emale) jacket and then split the column after 1 character
Goodly, you are nothing but a good teacher of Power Query. This video is nothing but full of helpful instructions. I am nothing but a beginner in Power Bi. With all due respect and maybe you have already notice that you like saying in your video the filler word "nothing but".
With companies moving towards Business Intelligence apps like Power BI, this information is invaluable. I have experience in traditional programming and scripting languages, and the M language feels unintuitive to me.
You make me compulsive to acknowledge that though the video is simple, short, and concise. But, this video is the basic building block "foundation" for learning PowerQuery M-Language. 💯out of 💯

For the last step, so you actually don't need something like this #"last step"?
list count vs #"list count"
Thanks.
