If you are in freeze zone, need to blow out your system and turn off the controller. If no freeze zone, yes, water less frequently as needed

You can also find used ones for reasonable price. My fav is CL or Offered Up. Even Nextdoor is a good source. Good luck!

My rain bird shows off on the screen however nothing happens when hit any of the other buttons.

from what im understanding my own research you have to do it in zones based on the water pressure, to many heads going at once creates a bad sprinkler flow
