As requested, here's my FX30 grading workflow! There are timestamps / chapters to everything so feel free to skip to the parts you'd like to review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going through the Blackmagic's free training as that's where I started when I fully switched into DaVinci Resolve www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training it takes a few hours to complete but your foundations will be rock solid. I assure you it only looks intimidating but it's really easy to follow.

Does the Lut fully work with Final Cut Pro ?
@@EddieFrolic23 yes, there’s a guide in the LUT pack.
@@VictorLaforteza awesome thank you!
I learnt that correcting for skin tone is super important and it makes a big big differene to your final output.
I just got my FX30 and I learned how to manage the contrast of shadows and highlights with curves. Love it!
I just got the FX30 since watching your other videos regarding its capabilites, you convinced me with what it can provide in the cine world. Now I am learning Davinci (Transfering from Premiere) and this tutorial just made it easier for me to understand the software. The grading, tricks you can use for easier adjustments and more. Thank you Victor!
Glad to hear the videos help out a lot! More FX30 videos to come soon
This content is gold! Thanks for the tut! This vid also Made me go for the fx30, I’ve had my doubts but this helped a lot! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow! Your videos are the best and I love how you showcase the features of this Sony FX30. Keep it up!!!😍
Amazing video. I love how Victor explains everything. Recently got FX30 and switched to Resolve from FCP and videos like this are super helpful. Thank you.
Great to hear! Resolve is so much better imo!!
Victor, I just started using Resolve and have always wanted to learn to grade like you. Thank you so much for this! Learned that you can just convert everything from SLOG3 to 709 in a few steps
Amazing to hear! Yeah, even with just the normal CST or the official Sony LUT you can get amazing looks.
Victor, the way you speak and your cinematic videos are pure magic. I just love how calm it feels when I listen to you or watch your work. You're an inspiration my friend. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and work!
I appreciate you!!
subscribed at 1:06. Never seen your videos before or anything, but after you put that much thought into the intro I know there’s mad value in the next 30 minutes
Love you channel and I have learned a lot from it! I also love your film look and I bought your LUTs. Can't wait to use them!
Awesome thank you! if you have any questions that come along, DMs on instagram is always open :)
I’ve watched so many tutorials on UA-cam and this is probably the most helpful video I’ve seen on da Vinci. I feel like I’ve been doing everything wrong 🥲 but I’ve learnt so many things. Also thank you for not skipping over anything and just trying to sell LUTS 😂😣
Glad to hear!! I highly recommend going through Blackmagic free training. Everything I learned is from there 🙌🏽 I find there’s always free stuff to learn from. I just wanted to share the whole process even if it takes the videos to be this long. Appreciate you taking the time for this comment! Any other questions, just message me on IG! 🙌🏽
Probably the cleanest and most concise grade tutorial I have ever seen. Great looks and amazing lesson.
Thanks Dan! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Happy new year!
Man your video reviews are so relaxing watch!!Tthese edits really hook me in, way to go man! always loving your content!
Thanks dude! Always trying to keep it chill lol
This video relieved me cause I've been looking for tutorials on YT for grading clips on Davinci and I usually get overwhelmed by their workflow (how they grade). Thank you for showcasing your grading skill! It truly is a great video for people who are intermediate in their grading skill.
Nakakainspire mag-grade hehe
Salamat, Nathan! Sana madali lang siyang sundan haha. I still recommend blackmagic's free training. It looks intimidating but it's actually really easy to follow!
genuinely always the absolute best when it comes to tutorials and teaching people to be filmmakers, great stuff as always!!
PATRICK! Hope everything is going well with you! Thanks for stopping by on this one.
@@VictorLaforteza It's been going super well! Actually landed a job at a local camera store and it's been such an eye opening experience!! Hope everything's been well with you too man :)
Very good Tutorial. Watched a lot of videos about color grading/correction in davinci but yours was one of the best! Probably gonna buy dehancer soon after downloading the trial.
Amazing! I hope you enjoy the free trial of Dehancer! So many looks and film stocks in one package,
thank you!! ive kind of struggled with coloring, understanding the settings, what to look for and what luts to use etc. So many things to know for someone with poor color perception lol. This will help a lot, love your work and I need me some new luts!
highly recommend davinci resolve's free training! It's where I learned everything!
Hey Victor, today I had a really bad day, lots of frustration and stuff.. Your video really helped me up again!
Thanks for the nice content!
You got this dude! Hope everything is well.
Eres una completa inspiración, me emocionó mucho ver que estabas en valladolid, cequita de donde vivo. Muchas gracias por el contenido:)

Thank you man! Hoping to put out more fx30 stuff!
Thanks alot for explaining everything so clearly Victor, i learned to get the full potential out of my camera and grade in da vinci resolve thanks to you!

@@VictorLaforteza Thank you Victor, i wish you the best! you are one of my fav creators!
Helps a lot to understand, really well made
Glad to hear!
This is beautiful ! you got a new sub.
Your work amazes me a lot still confused how to grade in davinchi as being a premiere user but still amazed of your creativity 🥰
thank you! hahah davinci is a beast, you really have to dedicate some time to relearn a lot of things than what we are used to with premiere.
that's the kind of look i want to master! thank you so so much for the vid 🖤
No problem!! Any other questions feel free to ask!! 🙌🏽
I see you went on that chichen itza tour!🔥🔥🔥 i was in cancun last june and that tour was the highlight of my vacation
IT WAS SO AMAZING TO SEE!!
loved this man, thank you so much!!!!!!
You’re welcome! Any further questions just ask 🙏🏽
I love ur colour grading
We use two FX3 for work, but i also have a GH5 for years now, and while i like it, i think the next camera i will buy will be an FX30. It looks stunning, and like you said, it seems like what you can do with the full frame version, is not even remotely impossible do with the smaller brother. Great video thanks
Totally agree! It’s so amazing for it’s price!!!
beautiful work brother
Thank you brother! I appreciate that a lot coming from you
Really great video. I'm In love with vibe that your videos are creating. Since I'm a Premier pro user who wants to start editing in Davinci, I learned a lot of new things. Much more than one 😃. I'm really thinking about changing the software and this video is a great example of why I really should.
I highly suggest you should as the color grading is much much more flexible in Davinci! The best thing is that it's free or only a one time payment for the paid version!! If not, the techniques shown here are easily transferrable to premiere or FCP. Just uses different tools but similar functions :)
That dehance feature helped me a lot. Thank you!
Definitely a great plug in!
Set the zebras at 60~ and expose for skin all day every day. Modern cameras are great in the shadows so even if it’s “under exposed” the skin looks incredible and you have some latitude to adjust it 😊 love your process and grades!
100%!! everything is so flexible now. Expose for the skin tones and get AMAZING footage.
This is excellent
Thanx very much from Belgium
Anytime! If you have any questions, my DMs on IG is always open :)
These small yet significant adjs with dehancer got me real good 🔥🔥🔥
Right?! You can also use the DaVinci resolve equivalents. They’re good enough too!!
Loving your content brother. Im thinking to pick up the fx30.
Definitely a beast for its price!
Amazing amazing ❤❤
Victor your work is so effortlessly cinematic! I have the A7IV but the idea of trading it for an FX30 with a few small apsc lenses for travel is sooo appealing although i'd miss the photography features of the A7IV. Your videos show the FX30 is more than capable for my needs.
Thank you!! It is so nice to use cheaper APSC lenses. FF is sometimes just too much for the cost. If you think you'll do more work with photos, stay with the a7iv but if its just video, the FX30 is a total beast!
@@VictorLaforteza Thanks Victor, Is it just me or does the FX30 have more of a filmic “cinematic” look compared to the A7IV which seems to be a bit more clinical? Like a very subtle difference
Get FX30 and your A7IV will be getting dust. FX30 is probably one of the best things to have happened in the world of cameras. Oh and it can capture stills too :) (ok, maybe not as mighty as iv, but not bad either).
I learned a bit of something. Thanks for this
surreal color bro!
It’s the Kodak 2383!!
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
You're amazing man
I appreciate you brother!
Thanks, square bear. This was helpful 💯✌🏽
I had no idea I could save my nose tree as a power grade 🤯🤯 thank you
Really loved how you did the skin tones. No idea you could track and mask using DaVinci the way you did
It's a game changer!!
¡Gracias!
Wow, thank you, Manuelo! Didn't expect this at all. If you have further questions about the FX30, ask away!!
hey! 新年快乐
嗨嗨!
you got that film look dialed in man!
Thanks my dude!! it adds to the chill vibe
amazing.
I came here for the review, but I end up watching beautiful footage from my hometown Yucatan
Yucatan is beautiful! Can't wait to go back!!
Learned about the magic mask - like, WHAT!? How did that slip past me?? Great work!
I said the same thing when I discovered it haha! it's a cool handy tool.
Great Vid Victor! I really like looking/hearing your color grading work flow, always helpful and teaches me some new things as well! Just wondering though, if your shooting with a mist filter do you add bloom in post?
Glad to hear! No filter on these but if I do bring one its the tiffen black pro mist 1/8! I kinda stopped using them recently since I can now add them in post for flexibility.
Hey I'm based in Korea, I want to make films of my photoshoots at night, I'm going to follow your tutorial now for some of the clips I've shot, cheers and I hope you had a good time in Korea!
nice video bro
thank you bro
一如既往的高质量视频!!!赞一个!
感谢你观看我的视频! 我希望你学到了新东西 :)
Great work ! I have questions, i'm using iphone 14pro, when i go to Davinci and i edit some HEVC (4k no prores) what my color managment should be in my Project settings ? And i want to ask the exact same question but if this time i use Prores (on iphone always) ? And same question again (:D) if i use Filmic pro and i use their LogV3 ? It's hard to find precise answers... :)
cool vid, would of loved of you started with blank slate. as us at home following will be doing the same .
Great work 😉 i think the fx30 would be a great b-cam for my fx6 🎥😀
super good value as a b-cam! my buddy says it's a seamless matching for both cameras!
Thank you so much for this in-depth video, Victor. At 6:15, I saw you brought down the brightness of the entire shot using the Offset wheel. Wouldn't it be better to adjust the Gamma wheel instead to prevent the highlights from clipping or the shadows from being crushed?
I am genuinely curious because I shoot most of my videos slightly overexposed (+0.7) to retain detail in the shadows. I generally just bring the Gamma wheel down a bit and put the highlights to around -20 to make the image look less bright.
Hey dude! at 6:15 I just adjusted the greens on the offset! But yes, most of the time but also depending on the footage, I think Lift, gamma, gain will be a better choice to manipulate exposure in certain areas. Another option is curves which I love using!
@@VictorLaforteza Yeah I hear from a lot of people that curves are the way to go. What is your opinion on shadow boost and highlight reduction?
So Good, what lens do you use?
And what lens are you’re fav Prime lens?
Hello, I bought your color pack and I arranged the LUT colors exactly according to your instructions, and whether in Premiere or in DaVinci, the color of my video is not the same as yours.
Hi Ehsan! Please email me some screenshots of your layers and nodes at Victorlaforteza.yt@gmail.com let’s get it working for you!
Amazing content! Thanks for this! I'm trying to get better at color grading and using Davinci Resolve myself!
if your using after effects, what would you do to get something similar to this. where do i apply the conversion lut also where can i purchase your conversion lut im using slog 3
Around 8:00 when you are balancing your image, what's the reason for making those red and green adjustments in the offset wheel as opposed to specifically targeting the lift and gain for shadows and highlights since those were the areas you were referencing?
It's because of the overall color cast in the image because the light is bouncing on a green mossy wall that's so you start off with a clean canvas if that makes sense!
🎉🎉
Lovely tutorial!! Have you a guide to setup up VL-workflow or its pretty simple? And do you do everything i da vinci?
Pretty simple! They’re a color grading workflow I did a while back and it goes over the node tree! And yes everything is in DaVinci
I think im starting to like the fx30 image more than the fx3. I might have to witch.
I think there's still a different but man the FX30 keeps impressing me for the price!! Almost as good..
I gotta know, where is that beautiful font that you used for "camera settings" from?
found it on google! it's called NT Wagner.
Great explanations. I’m curious, what lens were you using for the intro footage? Thanks!
Mexico shots were all on the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8! I have mixed feelings with it, might sell and buy the tamron 17-70mm instead. The rest are either Sony 20mm 1.8 or Sirui 24mm 2.8.
Really nice! in manual focus Is possible to magnify to check focus while in rec? Thanks!
yup! it definitely can
Hey Victor love this channel i always come back to it ive learned a lot from watching u I have a question im looking just for your opinion on this do you think slapping on a lut can get the job done without having to color grade like are there specialized luts that do 90 percent of the colorgrading im only asking because ive never worked with them i usually colorgrade it all myself but i just dont have enough time anymore and im realzing luts look like the best solution on time saving
Yup! There are specialized LUTs that is almost one and done but keep in mind that there will always be adjustments that you need to make to get the perfect look with a lut because it depends on how it’s exposed and what colours are present in the shot. Nonetheless, it’s nice to be efficient with the right LUTs and you can be flexible too in the colour grade if you want to spend more time with it.
@@VictorLaforteza solid man thank you for letting me know i just found some great deals on some luts from the coloist factory and im looking forward to using them i really appreciate your video tutorials they really help
amazing work! What lens were you using for the intro footage? The image looks gorgeous.
Sigma 18-50 2.8 :)
The video looks dope! May I ask what's the font used in this video? It looks super cool!
yeah! it's NT wagner
Thank you so much for this video! I am thinking of purchasing the FX30 and was wondering, if you could only buy 1 lens to go with it, what would you recommend? Thank you!!
sigma 16-50 or tamron 17-70!
Can you please make a video about sony fx3 cinematic setting for low light and day light
Sure!
I am not sure how to put your LUTs into Premiere Pro. Do I add the "1-Click" conversion LUT below and add a layer of Cine Green (and all others) at the top? Also, I live in South Korea, so will it be possible to purchase your LUT in my region?
I would separate it on two layers, cine green should be above the conversion LUT and then your exposure adjustments and corrections would be done on the clip itself (or another layer below the conversion LUT). If you'd like to push the stylized grade more, I would put it under the conversion LUT. That way, it's flexible to push colours around. Hope that makes sense! and yes, you can buy the LUTs in your region :) Let me know if you have any other questions!
Great work - it looks amazing... sorry if it obvious somewhere but what lens(s) are you using for these videos (Mexico & Korea)? Sooo good :)))
Thank you! The Korea one I only used the Sony 20mm f/1.8 and then the Mexico trip I had the sigma 18-50mm f/2.8
I watched literally all 30min, you're very easy to follow along to. I'm confused about when you actually edit the clips vs. color grade. It seems like the clips are already edited but they are not really put together yet. I just saw your pinned post; I'm going to do the DaVinci Resolve training now. I've basically only exclusively used premiere pro and also bought LUTs to color grade footage but I can't get anywhere close to what you are doing here
Amazing to hear! It's actually quite streamlined. So you have different tabs which the layout will be different. The EDIT tab is very similar to Premiere pro's layout. You cut your footage there and add overlays, text, etc. and then once you're done cutting editing the video, you switch into the COLOR tab. Each clip will be separated for you and you can color each individual ones! You'll learn it on the free training. It's such a game changer. I've been a premiere pro user for 10+ years and I've never had so much fun editing with davinci after learning the ropes. It just takes a lot of unlearning and re learning some stuff. Hope you enjoy their training! if you have any questions along the way, ask away! :)
No way, now I'm really intrigued! I really love the look you're achieving with dehancer, if I end up buying it I'll be sure to use your code :)
He he, you went to the nice countries with cute architecture and a lot of bright colors. Let's see what FX30 can do in a boring, all grey, rainy, monotonous Lithuania :D
Same in Canada. Snow, sand, brown slushy roads, no leaves, everything dead. That being said, you wouldn't really shoot in bad location for a client would you? But I bet you can still make it look decent with the right framing and grading. Hmmm I might get into this challenge.. Thanks for the video idea lol
Great video. How do you get that film wind up transition? If that's what it even is. I am trying to find a plug in online.
It’s just a combination of assets! Film burn plus projector sfx :)
thank you!!@@VictorLaforteza
So just a quick question?..
Can we aquire these cinematic looks through color grading and other process in cameras rather than fx30 like zv e10.
Cause i have a zve10 and i really like these cinematic looks and wanna try to make them
Definitely can! It’s one factor that goes in. I’d say lighting is the best way to make an image cinematic with a lot of adding factors to it.
What font are you using at 2:08 ?
what font do you use for your video
nt wagner!
What song in the intro?
How would noise reduction work if you'd like clean footage? Do you apply it at the start or near the end?
Most of the time I would place it at the end! But there were times that I had better results placing it just before the Conversion
Really cool video Man! Which mic do you use? It sounds so crispy 👌🏽
thanks! I use the blue sona with the volt 2 audio interface
Nice, thanks! Appreciate your reply ❤
Hey Victor! Can you please give us your room tour (specifically your lighting setup)?
Very curious about the red lamp behind you
Sure! I’ll do it at some point next month 🙌🏽
Hi Victor, do you use zebras on your FX30? If so what are your settings for skin tones and highlights?
Only for skin tones I set it at 70
what font did you use for your thumbnail?
nt wagner :)
Im curious, did you use the nisi fiilter when traveling to korea/before picking up the matte box? or were some of it shot with and without?
No filters on the Korea video! I haven’t posted any new stuff with the NiSi filter yet :) it’s coming out soon!
Ty!! Also curious, do you awb or set your wb when using your fx30? Love the footage
Hey victor, i lost you on the first part only because I have a Sony a6400 and i don't think any of those settings apply to me. Can I still get similar results with what i have and how? It would be so helpful for my up and coming content creation journey.
Thnx in advance.
Hey! If you're shooting "non SLOG" footage, you can actually skip the REC.709 conversion section and get straight into the rest of the video. If it's SLOG footage, I highly recommend shooting in SLOG2 and expose to +1.7 on the metering so you can get the best footage from the A6400 and then proceed with the rec.709 conversion.
Hope that helps. Let me know if there's anything else! always open to help :)
@@VictorLaforteza mannnn😩. Thankyou so much dude. I'll practice this for a week and comeback to thankyou fs.🙌♥️
