Hey Clyde :) really glad you can enjoy the game as much as I do! Been playing this now for another 1k hours and we're actually in the middle of a marathon event trying to get all the achievements done 0-230 in the new eat my hats update! so far we're at 198 after 3 days. But should be close to finishing it tomorrow.
Yea and you can relinquish their souls to get mana back. So have them rest, and then re-summon them, and they have a new rest, and you get magic and casting skills for a very few MP.
I feel like the problem with leveling the blocking skill is that the only way to SAFELY level it is to intentionally train/grind it under controlled circumstances. Maybe if the chance for a skill-up was linked to the incoming damage? ie: partially blocking an incoming attack having a high chance of skill-up compared to a low chance on a full block
I know i did it during this vod, but I genuinely do not reccomend getting into the habit of grinding out skills. 1 reason is that it is a boring experience, another is it takes a long time. This is a rogue like. After the 5 or 6 hour game the character is gone forever regardles of winning or losing. So it makes more sense to play a little faster, clear 70% of the floor and 5hen to move on to the next. You wiĺl learn a lot more and a lot faster. Making your future runs a lot easier. I have many more reasons for this opinion, but those are the main ones.
Makes sense. My first few runs I tried squeezing every last exp out of every floor, and it just wasn't worth it. I still like having some blocking skill, but I try to only grind it if I have 2 or 3 enemies that can hit me; the torches or shields don't usually last very long that way. Leveling it naturally in combat is much less grindy.@@LyciantYT
@whitewolf9705 True story! I personally like to do this with rats on the early floors or slimes from sinks. I slowly dwindle each of their hp down to a 1 shot situation before finish them off. In the meantime you get a ton of skill in shield without really sacrificing anything, but thats mostly because I don't want viewers to have to watch a grind. But to answer your original question a little better. Your best bet is to find a human with armor (never cursed and gives you that AC boost) Alternatively the gnomes can have blessed serviceable shields that also helps. Otherwise you just have to wait till after a few levels. I'm pretty sure you'll figure out the best way to approach this though. :) If I can give any more feedback or share insight let me know. In the meantime good luck in the dungeon!
It does have a lot of value, for the most part I prefer having a single follower and try to make that single follower as strong as possible, but I do see the value in this interaction!
i just got into barony so this could be part of a more recent update but in the underworld, is there a reason you weren’t recruiting the ghouls since skeletons are friendly with ghouls? and also i think it’s possible to read spellbooks that are cursed withour equiping them, so you didnt have to remove curse on the cold spellbook to learn it, right?
Hey Franz, firstly welcome to the community and thank you for watching the stream! I'd be happy to answer your questions :) You are absolutely correct I could of recruited the ghouls and they would have helped me out a bit until they perished and that would of been fine. But that would potentially take away experience from my summons and the goal was to make our summons stronger so even though it would help in the short term in the long term it would harm me more. As for the spellbooks you are right you can right click and select read and if you happened to be a succubus or incubus you would learn the spell without any trouble. However as a skeleton or any other race other than the 2 I mentioned prior. You will forget 1 spell and at the same time not learn the book you were reading and it would crumble to ash. So I made sure to remove the curse beforehand! Good luck in the dungeon :)
I really enjoy going melee conjurer, and just becoming super tanky. Usually go for gungnir. Was a ton of fun and felt very strong. Just wish they had a little bit of melee skill. Ended with like 70 in polearms.
@Lyciant_YT some good heals for endgame. Believe I got a cold spell too. Worked out well :D. I should do a more mage oriented playthru. I wanna do an imp shaman but I have never tried really. I feel weak usually as a spellcaster
ive been playing skeleton conjurer for a while now but for some reason I can never get my skeleton summons to attack ghouls. not even I can hurt ghouls. Am I doing something wrong?
It sounds like you have the friendly fire feature turned off. As a skeleton you are friendly with ghouls so without friendly fire it id impossible to attack them in any way.
Ahh, so that suit removes your health regeneration, but in turn it doubles your mana regeneration. This is great for skeletons since mana regenerates faster than health and well more lives :)
My first win was with conjurer skeleton, and it was soooo easy. Had 600% mana regen at the end(with 0% hp regen) and 3 dominated cockatrice. I was playing with a friend, and we completely shit on the final bosses.
I don't know, i personally always felt blocking skill was very strong in the game as it always remains relevant. I like that it's hard to level from 0, but if you're a class that starts with blocking getting it to 100 naturally never seemed hard. Then again, i usually play a bit slower in general as i enjoy getting "attatched" to each character and giving myself random minor or major challenges.
Thats fair. Having all that extra AC really does help and its not difficult to level up at all. Its just time consuming to go out of your way to train it. Unless you do it during specific moments like having several rats or slimes. Honestly I'm not sure if you're referring to a moment or something I said, but yeah, I guess I've just taught myself to play in a kiting style rather than a tanking style.
Hello Sergio. I have never modded my game before and might not do so for a long time still. If you would like to test out some mods, just look for them on the barony steam workshop. Should be pretty easy unless you try it with the quality of death beta, for that you can't use the workshop, but you will need to manually install the files. Good luck!
Honestly, I understand why you discourage this class/race combination, but it seems to me you scaled into power quite nicely despite the bad earlygame! Also, disrespecting the final boss by fighting them three times and not using your *entire* army any of those times. Hilarious. lol
Hahaha yeah, conjurer is awesome when solo. But in multiplayer your minions become kinda useless and if you can't be a mage to compensate... Well its not fun. But as far as scaling goes especially in solo yeah conjurer's minions can become very strong. I do think this is one of my longer games if I remember correctly. I leveled up blocking and a few things to make things smoother and really tried to maximize my conjured skeletons levels. Not really a playstyle I enjoy but I like variation so I had fun with it :) But yeah its hilarious what a few strong NPCs can do. :) Thank you for watching and the comment!
@@LyciantYT Hey, it's a game of linear warriors and quadratic wizards; sooner or later, *all* the casters become stronger than their martial friends as they grow in levels and learn more spells. lol My friends and I were actually theorycrafting a party built entirely around stuff like conjurer and mesmer, with a healer to support everything. Don't know if that'll work (could crash and burn pretty easily, I think) but I'm personally hopeful. I like followers quite a lot.
You can pretty much make everything work, but sadly followers fall off pretty hard in multiplayer in general. I can't quote exact numbers, but followers get double exp when they kill something. Get normal exp when you kill something and No exp when somebody else kills something. This just makes them very impractical in multiplayer games. Its kind of sad really. Don't misunderstand you can still make it work, but its much simpler to do it in singleplayer. But I'm sure it'll be a fun experience regardless :) You'll always have magic to fall back on!
I use to do a lot of co-op on the barony discord. But found that I want to complete runs in about 2-3 hours while most people do 3-5 hours. Ill probably do some co-op again in the future, but especially for livestreams I am not sure i can or want to commit that amount of time. Maybe for a few special occasions like hitting 500 subs.
Absolutely falling in love when barony since findong your videos on it.

I learned you can make them rest again every time you summon them, not just once per floor. Good free healing and leadership xp.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Ill have to test it and mention it during the guide. Great little detail!

So have them rest, and then re-summon them, and they have a new rest, and you get magic and casting skills for a very few MP.
This will probably work, but it seems so very time inefficient to me. I'd rather just run around and let them do their thing :)

Im pretty sure you can hold space to command multiple allies to follow/wait
You can indeed!
This is a pretty important detail that can make or break the whole followers experience in Barony
It does have a lot of value, for the most part I prefer having a single follower and try to make that single follower as strong as possible, but I do see the value in this interaction!
that slingshot sísisfus arc lol
Hahaha, it was such a oof moment lol. I could of sworn skeletons were able to unequip cursed items! But at least it was worth a good laugh!

@@LyciantYT surprisingly strong. Got some nice spells too that run
Oh yeah? What kinda spells?
@Lyciant_YT some good heals for endgame. Believe I got a cold spell too. Worked out well :D. I should do a more mage oriented playthru. I wanna do an imp shaman but I have never tried really. I feel weak usually as a spellcaster
Imp shaman is so much fun! Probably the strongest spellcaster in the game mostly because you begin with elemental focus which makes a BIG difference!
ive been playing skeleton conjurer for a while now but for some reason I can never get my skeleton summons to attack ghouls. not even I can hurt ghouls. Am I doing something wrong?

Not a problem :) happy to help!
gnomes, orcs and elves could be fun
yeah they could I agree
God i wish they would add orcs or dwarves
Dwarves would be a nice counter part to thr gnomes
One question, what is the purpose of the vampire suit that says degeneration?

Ia there a game like this that isnt a rougue like with permanent death and character deletion?
Im sure there might be one. Unfortunately i do not know about it. Would love to know myself however.
Skyrim lol
xD I guess the dungeon exploration of skyrim is kinda like this yeah lol.
Legend of Grimrock is kinda like this game, but no procedural stuff, and the movement is janky
I'll have to look into that

Yes! I can't remember exactly, but I think it was 60 or 70 points in magic.
