you can also plant some of the usual food waste and regrow - celery - half dead garlic, carrot tops grown amazing greens for salad, all peppers- sweet and chilli, dry the seeds and plant them - grow your own - good luck.... especially if planted in a recycled 1L water bottle - makes a great self watering plant container :)
Just want to say thank you for helping us get through this mess. Your upbeat personality, helpful hints, & culinary excellence give me a big boost to get through my day. Thanks again.
Real talk, I went to culinary school and they didn't teach me knife skills this well. They just handed us carrots and told us to not hurt ourselves. So this video is literally more helpful then my culinary classes. Thank you, I'll feel much safer cutting things from now on.
Additional money saving pro tip: Save seeds from your veggies, let them dry, and try planting them! It won’t work with all veggies, some are engineered NOT to have function able seeds, or to just end have seeds. Your best bet would be organic or non-gmo, but if you’ve got a green thumb you’ll be saving TONS of money in the long run! Happy growing everyone!!
Frankie , you have become by far my favorite tv Chef. In Chicago here your show comes on a chanel called 5.3 n I watch you on there n here on UA-cam. I love cooking n am fair . You give me so many creative ideas n help make cooking easier. Your fantastic.
Thank you for explaining how to use the knife the way you did! I think it will help me alot! I dont see very well and I was never quite sure how to use the knife that way! That was very helpful!
these videos are fantastic. So glad you're spreading the word about good healthy affordable home cooking. I had to figure these things out for myself, would have loved to know you when I was in college! But i still watch the vids because you have such great energy and inspire me to get creative with cooking. underrated! keep up the great work, you'll go far :)
I love your channel. I used to watch your videos on Facebook but I don't use it anymore. Glad to have found it again! And broccoli stalks are the best part
We always try to eat the florets ease, but I either dice or slice the stems and throw them in the freezer. Once I have enough... Broccoli and cheese soup!
The end of the stalk is still edible though, you just need to peel it thicker than the upper part. I usually eat all the parts except the outer fibrous skin. Or you can use the peels even more for the veggies stock bank.
i really like the orange fridge....where did u get it.....i always use the stems and leaves of veggies..leaves of celery are very flavorful like parsley...
You had me at peanut sauce!!!!!! I have yet to make my own....this is so simple!! Luckily when we have broccoli growing we eat the green leaves too, they're like collards. Wait to go with the DONT WASTE FOOD!!
Thank you Frankie! I love at your videos for inspiration and love that you encourage us to use what we have on hand. How do I make the stock? Thanks again!
Save the seeds to grow in the garden for a new crop of plants, or exchange at the seed exchange at the library. My public library has one where gardeners exchange seeds.
Man I've always used the broccoli stems when I made stir fry. Glad to see others out there doing the same thing. It always seemed so wasteful to just throw them away!
Do people really not eat their broccoli stems? I’ve been eating them my whole life. We don’t peel it and we still use the end of it. It just takes a few minutes longer to cook than the florets so you have to start cooking the stems first
I...I didn't know you just needed to peel the stem. 🥺 (That emoji should look less sad and more anime dewy-eyed starstruck) I will still always prefer the florets, because when soaked in sauce they're just delectable. But I'm willing to give those stalks another chance now.
Thanx, Chef Frankie, please save the seeds to grow another crop of vegetables. Even city dwellers can grow vegetables in containers. So, please don't discard the seeds.

More on the zero waste front please! It's extra inspiring at the moment during quarantine to help utilize everything in my fridge and pantry

My mom peeled broccoli stems and sliced them in place of water chestnuts in her stir fry. Just like you did!
I love the way you improvise by using other kitchen tools and utensils for other purposes.
Loved the knife skills part. Thank you.
I love broccoli stalks in cashew chicken. Also you can grate the stalk and toss it in a salad or omelet.

Hand on heart: the stalk is my favorite part of broccoli. It’s delicious raw.
true facts
This is great, I'm learneding 😅
Yum. Just what I was waiting for-meatless struggle.
Save the seeds to grow in the garden for a new crop of plants, or exchange at the seed exchange at the library. My public library has one where gardeners exchange seeds.
Wow he is pretty cool. Education on cooking and cutting veggies 🌶 🌽
I don’t even peel the stem. I cook as is, and it’s tended and delicious.
Man I've always used the broccoli stems when I made stir fry. Glad to see others out there doing the same thing. It always seemed so wasteful to just throw them away!
Looks awesome.
omg looks sooo yummy
I use the broccoli roots as follows....peel them, cut up and dip with ranch dressing...Bon Apettite
Do people really not eat their broccoli stems? I’ve been eating them my whole life. We don’t peel it and we still use the end of it. It just takes a few minutes longer to cook than the florets so you have to start cooking the stems first
Loved this one! We're going meatless and my knife skills are rusty.
I...I didn't know you just needed to peel the stem. 🥺 (That emoji should look less sad and more anime dewy-eyed starstruck)
I will still always prefer the florets, because when soaked in sauce they're just delectable. But I'm willing to give those stalks another chance now.
Lots of love from Kanata Ontario Canada. Where do you get red pepper packets from your packet drawer lol
Pizza places usually have them. I know for sure Pizza Hut does
You're cute, a bit silly but that's part of the schtick - Love your recipes!
jfc, this guy is hilarious!
Hope its good!
my mind was absolutely blown about peeling the stalk. I've been cutting the stalk but somehow peeling it completely escaped me.
Does the water work better if it comes out of a mason jar?
Hell yeah dude do the do
chow or lo mein recipe plssss
Good recipe. If you throw in some cooked Tofu or Tempe it would be a completely vegan meal.
❤❤
If you have a food processor or cheese grader, make that broccoli stem into coleslaw.......
Can you show us a non-nut sauce please.
in malay, we call it 'tumis'
I juice the steams
Kohlrabi is a vegetable thats basically all broccoli stem.
Where is he buying veg for that price???
Thanx, Chef Frankie, please save the seeds to grow another crop of vegetables. Even city dwellers can grow vegetables in containers. So, please don't discard the seeds.
Who throws away the stalks??? I never throwaway the stalks when cooking broccoli
At your command
Don't throw that carrot tip in the stock bucket, COOK IT THEN AND THERE! It's the same texture as the rest of it, treat it accordingly!
Haha I’m 16 so I never think about the price of food but this is funny and interesting. I Wonder if my parents try to cook cheaply
😺
Frankie, I love you but NO CRUCIFEROUS VEG in the stock bucket............sorry....just saying
so weird watching this landscape
Try using just damp cloth with water instead of oil when making rice creations.. thank me later. Lol
so how long is this dude gonna ride on his tastemade vids?
Dude...a lot of people were subscribing tastemade just for struggle meals series, so....
@@abra_cadavra3928 so you pretty much already saw all these too? lol....new channel, old content. makes perfect sense. smh
Don't put bell pepper stems into stock. They're not edible at all.
adding broccoli to a vegetable stock will actually make it taste, and smell, like a fart, I don't recommend.
First.
