What I think is really interesting, is that later in the same episode, Will opens up the "throat" of his fireplace (the part that becomes the chimney once it's outside) because he believes he can hear an animal trapped inside. It's sort of a benign version of what the killer he's profiling did. (It was definitely just a hallucination, too, because when Will is hearing the trapped animal, the dogs are right there and show no reaction, like you'd expect them to if they heard an animal in the flue.)
Purposeful scene. It's after he tears into the chimney that he outs himself to Hannibal. There are only two roles in the theater - the person who listens and the person who plays. When he first asked Will what he saw behind closed eyes, Will lied to him by claiming he saw himself when he saw Hobbs. After the chimney scene, he asked Will if he still hears the killer's song behind his eyes. He admitted he does because it's their song. Meaning... he's not the person listening, he's the person playing, and he wants the person listening to see how well he plays. That's when Hannibal reached out to Bedelia, and told her he sees a possibility of friendship. In emotional moments like that... Will outs himself. That's why he takes both spots in the theater during the reenactment. He plays on stage AND he sits in the seats.
+Emu Clan lol there's nothing wrong, everything about this show is beautiful, they made art out of death...I've never been disgust by anything in this show, mostly amazed. And no, I'm not a psycho.
l33tnobody1337 lol nah unfortunately I'm just a regular person fasciinated by death and psychopaths... you're not supposed to be disgusted by all those deaths in Hannibal....
+Yay New Name Pics from the sound? Oh well... Also, there's no chance to play on the vocal "chords" with a cello bow, since they're small muscles inside the lyranx, as seen in an earlier episode when you see inside the opera singers throat. Really disappointing, that they went for such a bullshit.
i actually shivered when he played the human cello. that is the only scene in the entire season that i had a hard time watching. so ridiculously creepy. eek.
Definitely one of the most uncomfortable scenes but beautifully symbolic to the relationship between Tobias and Hannibal. Just like Hannibal is to Will, Tobias was drawn to Hannibal, desired to kill him so much he saw how much alike they are and so he felt they could be friends. Hannibal has the same feeling for Will but sees Will more like Himself than anyone hes ever met, and Will feels the exact same way, he both is in Love with Hannibal yet needs to kill him. And not in love in a sexual way or even gay way. Its what gives Will his realization and acceptance to the reality of his natural self. Tobias already had all of this, Hannibal knew that and he didn’t see much of any benefit from having a close relationship with Tobias. He wouldn’t have been able to persuade or influence Tobias like Will, Will had an inevitable transformation only Hannibal could literally smell. Hannibal and Will are each other’s purpose, Tobias was just the cello Hannibal wanted to play with.
The cinematography and sound design for this are A+. Truly chilling, plus the sound is really cool. This wouldn't be possible in real life because (1) we have two vocal cords, not 4, (2) they're pretty small, even in singers with deep voices, and (3), they work by rubbing against each other, not vibrating on their own like cello strings. Many speech-related professionals have switched to calling them "vocal folds" because they have more in common with rubbery folds (like the stretched end of a balloon) than the strings of a harp. You'd probably make a good bassoon out of vocal chords.
Out of all the scenes in the 1st season of Hannibal... this is definitely the one that disturbs me the most! I've seen a lot of gory horror films already; but this sent chills down my spine!! 😨😨😨
Kid of excellent taste. I like movies as violent as this when I was 12. But I didn’t like anything this great. You had refined tastes as a young age. Hannibal would approve
The first time I saw this unforgettable scene I immediately thought to the music of Nosferatu(1979 Herzog) prologue inside the catacombs with the mummies (Popol Vuh music) I think that the music of this wonderful Hannibal scene is a tribute to this Nosferatu scene because the music is the same.
Too bad the strings would not sound in such a situation. Years ago my EMS partner and I picked up a body in a funeral home to take to a hospital for autopsy. The man growned from air escaping his lungs through his vocal cords.
This scene sends a chill down my spine cos this design makes perfect sense to me(although it might not actually work scientifically speaking), I was in awe of this killing when I first saw it, but then it shook me that I was actually enjoying it and I was overwhelmed with self-loathe.
Not if the killer also opened his chest cavity, removed the internal organs, and closed it back up again. I'm going to go watch some Looney Toons and try to recover some of my sanity.
Also, there's no chance to play on the vocal "chords" with a cello bow, since they're small muscles inside the lyranx, as seen in an earlier episode when you see inside the opera singers throat. Really disappointing, that they went for such a bullshit.
Actualy I gave up on thinking that some things in this world are impossible. I see some people really attack this moment in the film, which is actualy a beautifull in a morbid way. But you are maybe forgetting that we live in the 21st century, where things thought as impossible are made possible everyday. I've learned my lesson about the impossible, which is pretty much how we see things by the limits of our imagination. There is always a way...
@@shivampatel3003 No, but different things disturb different people for a variety of reasons, so while this doesn't affect you as bad, it did affect me.
I wish they had chosen to make a woodwind instrument of some kind instead of a string because vocal cords don’t work like that. I have, on the other hand, seen a duck hunter blow through a duck trachea to make a duck call (have I emphasized duck enough?)
It's will graham, the profiler who (sorta eventually) catches Hannibal. This series is like the intro to red dragon, with will and Hannibal profiling serial killers, but over three seasons. Best show ever.
Person: Stop playing the victim, its not even a real instrument.
Fannibals:
Fannibal: beautiful and will, when did you learn how to play cello?
YOU TOOK MY LINE GODDAMIT XD
Harpsichord better
Any thing is acceptable when Will Graham do it 😍
When deapthroating goes wrong
Dorito _ The _ Legend you know what. I’m here for the Hannibal video comments.
*right

Melissa Jansen i never realized this...
oh crap! never thought of that!
I just find out today!!! Thank you
His dogs are lame. They even did not notice someone had sneaked under Will's bed later...

I am a cellist. I know now that creating a cello out of person is not a good idea you get a horrible sound
Eli Jones yeah that is the only reason that that is not a good idea xD
Did you try?
maybe
Good call
Self experience, eh?
damn that sound when he played it sent chills all over my body, beginning with my ears.
Because you must wonder
How does something so horrid produce something so beautiful?
ASMR 👀
My favorite scene in the whole show, that sound is just ...perfect. I have no words.
WhatItMeansToBeHuman sameeeee I want a longer full version of that song to listen to!
They played us like a damn FIDDLEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
A Harp from Hell
That's not a fiddle tho
Fun fact: A fiddle is a violin playing Scottish music
THE VIOLIN…IS IN MY…THERES ANOTHER VIOLIN….IN MY….
Somewhere in the deep, someone has already tried this
Chuck EagleHeart of course...
There is ALWAYS someone
Am I the only one who thinks that's a really beautiful sound ?
Please see a psychologist.
+Nathalie Schipper I agree. That music is beautiful.
+Emu Clan lol there's nothing wrong, everything about this show is beautiful, they made art out of death...I've never been disgust by anything in this show, mostly amazed. And no, I'm not a psycho.
+ladycopine Uhrm you are a psycho, you definetely are.
l33tnobody1337 lol nah unfortunately I'm just a regular person fasciinated by death and psychopaths... you're not supposed to be disgusted by all those deaths in Hannibal....
Too bad the sound is fake and no one will even know what a human cello will actually sound like.
Challenge accepted
+Comrade Nikolai been a year bro. . .got pics?
He in jail now.

disappointing, that they went for such a bullshit.
Nah, not for me. Because it was so obvious, that there would come no sound out of it, even with the "vocal chords" they made up. Cool series though.
So macabre, and so beautiful.
True beauty is not in the holy, but in the horror
I see the emo kids, they speak
That could be the shows tag line.
There are no strings on me
hahaha true
that's pretty funny
BODDENERGON he's gonna use your innards, no worries
Get played, mate!
I had strings but now I'm free, now there are no strings on me
Its weird how he jumped off the stage backwards.
PacMonster146 he’s insane what do you expect?😂
That's why this series was just awesome. I enjoyed every minute of it.
This is my favorite scene of the entire show
+Diane Toolan go see a doctor.. no seriously.
+l33tnobody1337 Dr. Lecter
Too bad he doesn't sell them on E-bay, I wanted his design tho
I find this scene very disappointing. This just won't work and the "vocal chords" as shown here are anatomically very incorrect.
Omg same
i actually shivered when he played the human cello. that is the only scene in the entire season that i had a hard time watching. so ridiculously creepy. eek.

Yes! This is my absolute favorite murder scene, thanks for posting it!!
Gotdamit, Garret! You have to ruin everything!
Out of all the scenes in the 1st season of Hannibal... this is definitely the one that disturbs me the most!
I've seen a lot of gory horror films already; but this sent chills down my spine!! 😨😨😨
Beautiful, isn't it?
Or neck
0:52 His jump tho. It's hot for some reason
oh yeah
That sound it's just... beautiful
This was the coolest scene in the entire series.
now almost 17 I reflect back to how this was my favorite show at age 12..
Now that you're almost 22, what do you want to do?
Kid of excellent taste.
I like movies as violent as this when I was 12. But I didn’t like anything this great. You had refined tastes as a young age. Hannibal would approve
My favorite crime scene from the entire series
its a piece of art
It's like i can hear a groaning soul
That is some fucked up shit
oh my God I saw this scene I was like "yup that was Hannibal"
but it wasn't
spoiler
it was tobias, like, the strings instruments dude.
watch the show >3>
This gave me the creeps ;D, but this scene rocked.
Very beautiful sound
me in orchestra class after killing a violin that messes up a harmonic
Ahhh it has this hauntingly beautiful Junji Ito vibe to it. I love scary shit like this.
The main thing I was amazed with was how much rosin came off that bow my fellow string players will get what I mean
I fucking love this scene!!
My only question is: how did the killer connected his vocal cords to the strings of the cello?
I'm about to eat, why am i watching this?.
hannibal tv show (: season 1 xd
I always ate while watching Hannibal xD
this actually makes me hungry?
Yeh, somehow it makes me hungry and the "meal" looks fucking delicious
How did this show survive 3 seasons on NBC? Its so fucking good but man it was brutal
this was my favorite scene, I constantly watch this clip simply because of the idea of a human cello. and the nose makes me feel nice
Okay I was fine with literally everything else in this tv show but that fucking sound right there haunts me
The first time I saw this unforgettable scene I immediately thought to the music of Nosferatu(1979 Herzog) prologue inside the catacombs with the mummies (Popol Vuh music) I think that the music of this wonderful Hannibal scene is a tribute to this Nosferatu scene because the music is the same.
By far, my favorite scene of season 1. ❤️
good to see a man work some fleshy wood between his legs.
haha get it because it is a cello
that’s so beautiful i love this
It's sounds like a combo between a cello and a "death rattle" (look it up)
Too bad the strings would not sound in such a situation.
Years ago my EMS partner and I picked up a body in a funeral home to take to a hospital for autopsy.
The man growned from air escaping his lungs through his vocal cords.
Robert Gift ewwww
cool
I am terrible. I said "Let's make him hum a ditty".
This scene sends a chill down my spine cos this design makes perfect sense to me(although it might not actually work scientifically speaking), I was in awe of this killing when I first saw it, but then it shook me that I was actually enjoying it and I was overwhelmed with self-loathe.
What an amazing scene
fuck this show was the best thing that i've watched on tv in a very long time.
scientifically speaking...wound that be possible?
Nah. there's no room inside victim dudes bod for the sound to resonate. that's why the cello, bass, and violin are hollow.
thanks!
Not if the killer also opened his chest cavity, removed the internal organs, and closed it back up again.
I'm going to go watch some Looney Toons and try to recover some of my sanity.

This is hauntingly beautiful
Is there a name of the song in 2:05?
Come on Willy, play us a little diddy.
Boy this is kinda sick
Hobbs: Now play “Freebird”!
what is the name of this piece of music
Bloody loveeee this scene!
This is absolutely beautiful 😌 I feel like copying the concept
*THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN CELLO!*
This show was amazing
As a violinist knowing very cello, he’s gripping on the strings which won’t produce that sound😂😂
A true artist
Is it weird this is one of my favorite parts
I know this is gross but i thought he was going to hollow him out and use his tendons or something.
There's always room for cello....
Is there any instrument that sounds like that?
I got phantom pain in my throat and I wanna die I cringed so hard at this
What a magnificent sound I wonder if that’s the actual sound You could get from playing someone has a cello
This is my design
I feel like Dr. Lecter and Jigsaw would make a great team.
Played him like fiddle ... rather a cello
oddly Beautiful even tho idk if it works
Holy fucking shit this is beautiful
I WANTED TO CREATE..SOUND.
He created one alright.
The vibrations should create another sound at another hole.
I just watched this scene for the first time with my husband, it disgusted me so bad, the sound of it haunted me. YUCK
The whole show Is worse. Was this like the first scene you saw
@@shivampatel3003 No, but different things disturb different people for a variety of reasons, so while this doesn't affect you as bad, it did affect me.
Crap I just wanted a human mimicking a cello sound
did he tune it first?
Where can I find a cello that makes his same sound I love how deep and morbid it is
When the clapping started all I could think about was Shia lebouf (is that how you spell it?)
What does a human cello actually sound like though?
I wish they had chosen to make a woodwind instrument of some kind instead of a string because vocal cords don’t work like that. I have, on the other hand, seen a duck hunter blow through a duck trachea to make a duck call (have I emphasized duck enough?)
Too bad, the resolution is too low.
which enstrument did they use to create the sound
had to open u up to get a decent sound outta you
So much rosin on that bow....
Planning on watching this, but can I ask, was that soppose to be the original Hannibal lecter (sorry don't know the name) or is it someone else.
Based on Thomas Harris's literature and written in his style, it's a reinvented version of it.
It's will graham, the profiler who (sorta eventually) catches Hannibal. This series is like the intro to red dragon, with will and Hannibal profiling serial killers, but over three seasons.
Best show ever.
That's Will Graham, an unstable profiler who's also Hannibal's "love interest" (a really creepy love that is) by the end of the series
Patrick Chole, I was told the show got canceled. Is this true? I don't want to watch a new show with an unfinished ending...
I think it has an ending, dunno whether it is a good one
but anyone know what song is it originally ?
So basically, is Will making himself think like the killer in order to catch the killer? Someone explain.
I know it's late but yeah he can empathize withh killers and think like em
my throat feels weird
Its not playable on mobile anymore????
ehm this really tests my suspension of disbelief
What chords are these!?
What episode is dis
I'm not musician but the bow hold and the left hand are wrong. But again, this is a fucking human cello 😂
I heard people scream when he play it
anybody know the name of the piece?
"Neck"
by whom?
TheElite3740 It's a joke! He is playing the chello in the neck arrea, i don't know the piece :D
+TheElite3740 The head
This would not work in real life
that's not ideal
