Garrett's uses half "Mushroom" popcorn and half traditional butterfly popcorn in their mix. "Mushroom" popcorn is best used for coated popcorns because of its surface area and it holds up to mixing too. Ya can't beat this mix...yum!
@@berakiahboone5135 Exactly, they do use "air" popped corn. No, I must've missed that...I'll go check it out, thanks! Have a "popping" good day. LOL ; )
The 'brain' look to the kernal is from using a specific type of corn, versus the typical 'sploded' looking style kernal....Garrett's (as well as, Nuts On Clark) use the 'brain' looking one specifically for heavier flavors because it holds the toppings better..... Im not some all-knowing popcorn addict. I just saw it in a documentary one time on popcorn 😂 Great video, as always, Adam and team!
Coconut oil is a MUST! Way better than neutral oil. I jse a Whirley Pop, butter flavored coconut oil and Flavocal. Literally identical to movie theater. I grew up in Valpo (where Orville Redenbacher started). He was a client of mine. If doing caramel or cheese flavored, then use regular coconut oil, if the butter flavored is too much for you.
Me.... I'm some people....I will not leave without it. I also will not forgive any so called friends or family members who have returned from Chicago, without some as a gift for me.
That’s awesome!!!!! I work behind the popcorn factory in Lake Forest and man sometimes in the morning the smells are amazing!!!!!! I can imagine what your kitchen smelled like!! 😎👍🏻👍🏻
Are cheddar popcorn soft? Since they don't have caramel and you pour melted butter on them, doesn't the popcorn feel wet? Because caramel ones end up being crunchy :) Thank you!😃
Just two questions. What did you mean by, "GP?" And that what is your sugar and water ratio? In other words, how much sugar? And How much water? Finally, how much baking powder/baking soda did you add? Thank you!
I want to ask: in my country, cheddar powder is almost impossible to find. Can I substitute it with regular cheddar cheese that I melt into a liquid state?
@@naimae3973 Yesss 🙌 I just tried making some. But I put the caramel on first. Next time I’m putting on the cheese powder first. How do you reccomend I put on the cheese? Mixed with melted butter? Or a different way?
@@AdamWitt so how come in your short you use the cheese sauce but here it the powder if your going show how to actually dont use fake clip to make it and i know they use cheese sauce with mushrooms popcorn dont your gonna cooy and then just you made this version and it aint copycat version
You using the wrong sugar. Garrets uses brown sugar and corn syrup. I will not tell you the brand but with a little research you can spot it in videos here on youtube. Trust me the brand does matter cause not all brown sugar is created equally. Its owned by a major company who also produces brown sugar under their name. But for some reason it doesn't have the same flavor profile.

They also use air to pop and not oil. Did you see that same episode on Business Insider? Just watched it today.

No its not a mix. All mushroom kernels do not pop into a pefect mushroom. They use mushroom for the cheddar also.
Thanks for the tip. I bought the mushroom kernels. I’m making it for my kids’ wedding reception.
@@maryjflanagan1922 You're so welcome. Awesome, everyone will love it. Who doesn't love caramel corn!!😁Congrats to the happy couple as well.
Been having Chicago cravings lately and popcorn popped into my head! No powdered cheese so I made a caramel/butter combo! This recipe works perfectly!
!

I had a spontaneous craving to eat popcorn tonight, and your video popped up on my screen. It was like destiny.✨✨✨✨

Thank you! I've been having a craving and haven't found Chicago popcorn anywhere this Xmas season.
Vegas has it.
Looks amazing. Can you link that universal lid with handle that you use?

I keep watching 6:03 over and over. I love that reaction.
I make my popcorn like that. Throw popcorn in a pot with some oil, cover it, turn on the heat. When it stops popping, it's done. Comes out perfect.
That’s awesome!!!!!

😎👍🏻👍🏻
I just use the Mac and cheese powder to do it lol. I don't know if its safe but it tastes great
Garrett's popcorn that as you said, "looks like a brain", is a popcorn kernel type called mushroom kernels. But it doesn't taste any different. 🧑🍳
binge watching all your Chicago vids as a native 😩 restaurant pop up when?? 😁
Does it make it better if you put the caramel pop corn in the oven ?
Chicago popcorn has 3 flavors in Canada. Carmel-cheese-hot spice
Yummy! I love sweet popcorn but this looks good too

Ratio:1:1 - 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water
Oh and he said 1 tsp of baking soda.
@@genawatkins6636 1 cube of butter(?)
m.s.g is monosodium glutamate, idk why he called that gp
Looks good and easy to make! Will be trying....thnx!❤❤
Gotta make this. Costco has a pretty good bag tho!
Hi. I want to try this. Since not all cheddar cheese powder tastes good, can you tell me the brand that you used?
I want to ask: in my country, cheddar powder is almost impossible to find. Can I substitute it with regular cheddar cheese that I melt into a liquid state?
Is it a bad idea to combine the caramel and cheddar?? Like cover the caramel popcorn with the cheddar?
We call that cheddar kissed caramel in chicago

Garrett's does not use powdered cheese for their cheese corn, which is what makes it so good.
The popcorn Garretts uses in a Mushroom popcorn
Hi , how longer they stay fresh?
Thank you
Yum I love cheese popcorn
❤
Great video!! Where can I find the cheese powder?
Can you use microwave popcorn?
What brand of powdered cheddar did you use?

How come in the Short advertising this video the cheese popcorn is made with a liquid poured on top but here it's just shaken with the powder?
The kind or grade of kernel matters.
What Is the work of baking soda
This not the same as the video link you posted. So what’s this recipe?
How much do they sell them for?
What’s GP??please
Garrett's popcorn look like a brain cause they are mushroom popcorn while the others are butterfly popcorn
They air pop there popcorn then throw it in a big copper kettle with the caramel
You got that cheese link?
Got you - amzn.to/43wcJ1S - it's an affiliate link (not trying to be sneaky)
Garrett’s is good buuuttttt… Mariano’s has the dupe for an 1/8th price. But of course, going to take it to the next level… And make it at home now!
Whyyy do you add MSG?? Like what does it do for the popcorn? I've heard such terrible things about it.
MSG gets a bad rap, it's unhealthy in large doses, like salt and sugar, but it enhances flavors in a way salt doesn't.
What's Carmel, isn't it CarAmel?
I came here high af
Not to mention that it's probably like 80% cheaper. lol
aint no way. U rlly bought all those subs 💀
Lol, yeah it was like 5000¥
my sister worked at garrett in the loop they had rats bad
WAAAY too much SALT!!!

Why not just say the brand? Sheesh, it's not some government secret.
