    Just tried the recipe right now. they are spread down chilling. It's great. But, TIP: use the same huge pot for everything. do your caramel in it as well so that you put back the pop corn in it while it's still on the stove. makes it really easy to mix up everything and spread caramel all over the place nicely because the warmth of the pot keeps the caramel slimy.

    Garrett's uses half "Mushroom" popcorn and half traditional butterfly popcorn in their mix. "Mushroom" popcorn is best used for coated popcorns because of its surface area and it holds up to mixing too. Ya can't beat this mix...yum!

      No its not a mix. All mushroom kernels do not pop into a pefect mushroom. They use mushroom for the cheddar also.

    Coconut oil is a MUST! Way better than neutral oil. I jse a Whirley Pop, butter flavored coconut oil and Flavocal. Literally identical to movie theater. I grew up in Valpo (where Orville Redenbacher started). He was a client of mine.
    If doing caramel or cheese flavored, then use regular coconut oil, if the butter flavored is too much for you.

    The 'brain' look to the kernal is from using a specific type of corn, versus the typical 'sploded' looking style kernal....Garrett's (as well as, Nuts On Clark) use the 'brain' looking one specifically for heavier flavors because it holds the toppings better.....
    Im not some all-knowing popcorn addict. I just saw it in a documentary one time on popcorn 😂

    Anytime I'm in O'Hare (or Chicago), I stop at Nuts on Clark for the caramel and cheddar mix. Very tasty; however the last time the popcorn was old and stale. 😞

    Are cheddar popcorn soft? Since they don't have caramel and you pour melted butter on them, doesn't the popcorn feel wet? Because caramel ones end up being crunchy :) Thank you!😃

    They have a store in VEGAS and when I say their popcorn is the best unless you make your own. Carmel Pecan is my favorite

    I make my popcorn like that. Throw popcorn in a pot with some oil, cover it, turn on the heat. When it stops popping, it's done. Comes out perfect.

    I want to ask: in my country, cheddar powder is almost impossible to find. Can I substitute it with regular cheddar cheese that I melt into a liquid state?

    Just two questions. What did you mean by, "GP?" And that what is your sugar and water ratio? In other words, how much sugar? And How much water? Finally, how much baking powder/baking soda did you add? Thank you!

    Garrett's does not use powdered cheese for their cheese corn, which is what makes it so good.

    Huh. Who knew. I've been making this for a few years but with Pop Secrets Caramel, Jolly Times The Big Cheese, and AMC's regular. I know it isn't as good as Garrett but I live in California.

    Garrett's popcorn that as you said, "looks like a brain", is a popcorn kernel type called mushroom kernels. But it doesn't taste any different. 🧑‍🍳

      MSG gets a bad rap, it's unhealthy in large doses, like salt and sugar, but it enhances flavors in a way salt doesn't.

    You using the wrong sugar. Garrets uses brown sugar and corn syrup. I will not tell you the brand but with a little research you can spot it in videos here on youtube. Trust me the brand does matter cause not all brown sugar is created equally. Its owned by a major company who also produces brown sugar under their name. But for some reason it doesn't have the same flavor profile.
