And because they sit better still during the inspection, the judge will also be able to judge them much better, which in turn yields more points and a greater chance of the championship. In the Netherlands it is even the case that the judge can have birds removed from the show if a bird is too restless and shows too many signs of stress! Dutch bird breeders generally spend a lot of time training their birds well for the show... there are always exceptions unfortunately.

There is a fantastic selection of high quality birds in this video, I wish I knew a Gouldian breeder there in Holland and it was still as simple as just jumping on a ferry to come and bring some of these beautiful bloodlines back to the UK. At the moment since Brexit bringing birds into the UK seems to be much harder (so I'm told) with excessive amounts of paperwork including veterinarian certificates for each bird required etc. I would love for there to come a time though where we are free to bring in new bloodlines as the dutch, italian and spanish have some fantastic quality birds.

Bird associations and other animal keepers' associations should work together in Great Britain to convince the government to be more flexible with the import of pets. This is important for the show quality of the animals as well as for genetic diversity. This will only positively affect the health of British birds (and other small livestock). Good luck!

Dank je. Ik heb aan deze show in het verleden wel meegedaan maar voor mij komt het net iets te vroeg in het jaar. Mijn raza's bijvoorbeeld zijn nog net niet helemaal tiptop door de rui. Mijn eigen vereniging houdt als het goed is wel een TT en daar doe ik aan mee en misschien ook aan het district west-Brabant. Wie weet volgt daar ook nog wel een video van!
