I feel like what I am trying to do with the fiddle clicked after learning this tune. This is a tricky and versatile instrument but when it comes to old time it's possible to take a very similar approach as traditional banjo. Like you mentioned, layer a simple tune with rhythmic variations so it doesn't get repetitive. My jam formula to a typical A-A-B-B tune is to swap singing with a couple of distinct approaches on each go-around. Seems to work well. The only thing left to do is practice 'til my brain bleeds.
Hi Douglas. Glad you're enjoying my videos! I make most of my backing tracks using Band in a Box- a fabulous piece of software. All the backing tracks are available to my level 2 and 3 supporters on Patreon (see the video description for details)

Absolutely brilliant!! I’ve been dying to learn this tune for donkees. I would love the sheet music please. ❤️
Hi Colm. Glad you enjoyed it! Send me an email (address is at the bottom of the Video description) and I'll send it to you.
Would it be possible to do a future lesson on “Dem Trisker Rebn’s Nign” or “Berditshever Khosidl”?
I'll get to them eventually!
I would like the dots for this tune.
Hi Li. Send me an email to haighchris@hotmail.com.
Just found your channel and loving it! How are getting/making your background tracks to accompany?
