  • Nearly all of the 120,000 ethnic Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh have fled in the fortnight since Azerbaijani forces seized control of the enclave.
It follows decades of fighting in the region. Azerbaijan has said it wants to reintegrate the area and treat its residents as equals but has been accused of “ethnic cleansing”.
Long populated by ethnic Armenians but internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh has been disputed territory since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The ABC visited the border town of Goris that have been overrun with refugees. Many in the region fear that while the war may be over the consequences of it have barely begun.
