Her performance in A Patch of Blue was superb and outstanding. It's my favorite all time movie, ever. She should have won Best Actress for 1966, if you ask me. But, at least she was nominated. Not bad for a first movie ever. I fell in love with her, in that movie. As a black man, her blind character made me see things in this world, totally differently, (HOPE), and it kept me from growing up in the 60's as an angry young man in adulthood. Sidney was also so awesome in A Patch of Blue, and had some very nice things to say about her when she took her own life. So tragic. RIP Miss Harman.
It really says something when a young actress in her 1st role ever can hang with talent like Sidney Poitier and Shelley Winters. You expect this level of excellences from a Poitier or Winters but for her 1st time out? Man, Elizabeth was just amazing.
While once again enjoying “a Patch of Blue”, I went to IMDb to see what other movies Elizabeth Hartman had been . I was so saddened to see that she had left us at such a young age. Just heartbroken 💔
I've never been so haunted by a screen actress as I have by her. She seemed so good, so innocent. Her smile was so radiant. Damn the forces that made her so unhappy. She was a beautiful soul, you could just feel it.
Elizabeth Hartman's outcome was so tragic and sad😟. She probably would of become a very famous and very successful actress today! And she's had so much to offer the world and so many talents and blessings . I loved watching her in movies. I just loved to look at her face because she was such a beautiful and sweet looking woman with a face like an angel. I'm sure if she was still alive that at 77 years old she would still be as beautiful as she always was when she was younger. She definitely did not look like she was unhappy or depressed in any way but then again a lot of people who are mentally fragile like her, especially in the acting industry never show how they're really hurting inside! She was crying out for help but no one was around to listen. I would have been there to listen to you if I knew you Elizabeth! Rest in peace my angel! You're free now 💔💖😕😪😘😘
She suffered from depression most of her life. She quit acting and moved to Pittsburgh where she jumped to her death from her 5th floor apartment. She called her psychiatrist and said I'm finally going to do it. Such a beautiful woman gone too soon. RIP Elizabeth!
Shelley Winters was great. But IMO Elizabeth Hartmann's performance as Selina helped raise Winters to a higher level. You loved Selina so much that it intensified your hatred of the piggish Rose Ann. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted to beat Rose Ann with a 2x4. I hope Elizabeth has found the peace she was never able to find in this world, I really do.
@@sandrafluker8117 It is a beautiful name. As much as I love this movie it's hard for me to watch. Just knowing that there are kids who live through this kind of life and worse makes me dangerously angry.
OMG tomorrow it will be 33 years that she died so sad her story and so talented too bad she could not get the help and support she really needed. Wish I had known you I bet we could have been good friends
One of the greatest movies ever made....A Patch Of Blue.
Great video. Ms.Hartman was a wonderful actress and a beautiful woman. RIP Biff.

The world is plagued with suffering, corruption, and war.
Elizabeth was great and unforgettable in The Beguiled. A very beautiful actress and terrific talent gone too soon. 🙏💐🌹🌸🌺🌼

She also was in the movie walking Tall ❤
Visual and oral memories of a woman never to be seen again. RIP
Happy birthday Ms.Hartman. God Bless.
I hope Sidney Portier appreciated her because she was she was a diamond in his wonderful film, A Touch of Blue.
I'm sure a fine man and actor,such as Sidney,appreciated her great acting ability...and her,as a person.
He did, if you'd Google articles on her death from People magazine, you'll see his quotation.

I wish you could have become friends too.
completely heartbreaking
She was also voiced of the mouse in the secret of nimh
I wrote a song for her with reverence; it’s called :” Don’t Let Me Fall”💖✝️
Her ex-husband, writer Gil Dennis died in May of 2015.
So sad.
What was she in with Henry Fonda?
"Our Town", in which she said he wore unofficial blinders, to concentrate so intensely.
