Synopsis: Set in the early 1980s, Stranger Things is set in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana. As a front, the region's laboratory performed scientific experiments for the US Department of Energy, when in reality, researchers there invested in experiments with the paranormal and supernatural, including the use of human test subjects. Unintentionally, they created a portal to an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, which would impact the lives of the small town's residents. In 1983, when 12-year-old Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) mysteriously disappears, Sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour) launches an operation to find him. Meanwhile, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will's best friends, decide to look for him on their own. But the investigation eventually leads the group towards secret government experiments and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), a peculiar little girl lost in the woods. Like the children, mother Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is determined and will do anything to get her son back.
