Hell yes, I paid £2 ($2.65) for an X450, loved it, and then went down the Ebay Chinese pen rabbit hole - buy a couple, wait untold weeks and have a nice surprise for yourself when they turn up and you forgot you ordered them.
Im not one to comment on videos, but I was scrolling through my feed and saw this Peter Draws video, and thought to myself okay I'll give it a go what's the harm. After the first video I feel in love with his drawings and just how relaxing his voice is. I'm so happy I came across your channel!
Your scribbles are nice to look at The pens are nice to look at Your face is nice to look at Your art is nice to look at Your VOICE is nice to look at This channel is very visibly pleasing to watch.
I love that you're not a professional on fountain pens and you know just enough to give a good review. People like me, never used a fountain pen yet in their lives, but want to get one to start out in calligraphy or drawing with them like you do, but don't know what ones are good to start with. This review helps!
Good morning Peter! I have a pen addiction I've been collecting pens since grade school. I don't know why but I love different types of pens. Have a great day❤
Just bought the x450. Been watching you for a while but always stuck to digital means when it came to art, so this'll be a new experience for me. Looking forward to my first fountain.
Hey Peter, nice video. I use the Waterman inks a lot and I find when they run low I tip the bottle to one side and sit it on the lower side facet. Really helps when filling those last few dregs of ink.
I fell down the Goulet Pen rabbit hole a month ago and my bank account has taken a bad, bad hit. But, man, do I have some spiffy new fountain pens and yummy ink! No more, though...no, no, no! Love watching you draw and listening to you talk. :-)
rhondalyn134 you are not alone. I bought one pen and 4 followed, then I got back into my technical pens. They are so nice to make marks with and all the snazzy inks.
4:58 I’ve heard that you shouldn’t stick the converter directly into the ink because it has the potential to corrode the internals of the pen if you leave excess on the outside.
I recently bought the X450 and casually see the video now, September 2022, 3 years later. Same features, but in black. The price, after these years, is practically the same (€) Congrats for your videos! I like your work and your personality when showing them
I want to get into fountain pens soon...I've never used one and am curious. I would like a nice one to start with..and I want one with a piston converter. A nice dark forest green ink would be nice
I checked this video out because I love fountain pens, but I now realize you are all about drawing, which also is a keen interest of mine. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I love your drawing style....a lot. It seems so effortless and non fussy. I think I ought, perhaps, to explore such technique myself... thank you for your imput on the Jinhaos. I personally like that make quite a lot. Ciao.
Hear, hear! I've been singing the praises of cheaper pens vs expensive (often European) pens. I believe the the x450 is completely metal, possibly brass. The advantage of the x450/x750 is that they use standard international sizes, so you can replace the nib with a Jovo nib, for instance. I'd like to get the dragon pen for spells, deeds of sale for souls, possibly even RPGs.
I give his eyes maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10. I think my own eyes are more beautiful 🤩 His drawings, however, are fantastic, and my own ink drawings cannot come close to his, and this is what matters, I think.
I remember seeing that same exact dragon pen being sold in the French Market in New Orleans about 14 years ago. The only difference was that it had a better contrast between the black and metal parts because it was pretty shiny. I almost bought it, but 26 bucks was more than I had at 16 years old and the pen looked uncomfortable to write with.
The rattle on 999's brass ring on the cap can be fixed with superglue. I removed the ring on mine then I glued it in place with superglue. Works perfectly. Thanks for the review.
Hey Peter, you ever look into Visconti fountain pens? They are crazy expensive but look amazing. I don't own any fountain pens yet, but I think I might pick a few up from watching your videos. Great drawing as always.
The dragon pen would make an awesome gift for a guy imo. I was surprised the red pen was only $9 ! They're both beautiful pens but I love that deep red with the black alot. I like it so much I'm going to go to the site and see how much the shipping would be. I live far enough north that sometimes shipping costs make an item not worth buying. Hopefully not this time though. I love that you show us so many cool products.
I have an X450 I bought a four pack one of them was the same red one that you have and I use it for a carry around pen I really like how wet it writes and if something was to happen to it the most expensive thing I lost would be the ink inside of it LOL . I bought a four pack of them for $17. There is absolutely no way to lose in that deal and I honestly think the nibs are made in quite well
Love the dragon pen! Have you seen the new game of thrones pens they have🙀😍 also I have the red ink and it drives me mad sometimes. Sometimes it'll write dark and other times it'll be less opaque. Idk maybe it's the pen I have it in? Idk. Great drawing!
I have my heart broken today. No not from dating. My age is past that. But rather broken by the fact that I may not be good at anything. Thank you for calming me down so I can keep trying some other day.
Oooh! Spinning pen reminds me of a reverse form of Spin-Art! That would be a pretty neat way to make some art, or use the spatters as a jumping off point for a drawing. Oh, do you play Beat Saber with your Vive?
I actually got the 999 as my first pen years ago and personally, as my own opinion, I absolutely love the heavyweight and use it as my class note taking pen as crazy as that might seem 😂 it is to this day still one of my favorites still.
the sould stone is like a yellowish orange not red peter that would be the reality stone. which is more fitting because its a pen that creates and edits the world of the drawing
Probably one of the worst ideas i've had, but I am making the 999 my first fountain pen. I wont be using it as much since I don't need to write often but damn is it pretty, going to be a slick little untensil to pop out when I need it.
I dunno the science behind these kinds of drawings, but I really felt this one. Like I could kinda see where you were taking. And it has good..... Pattern? Unity? I don't know. me no word but yes do like
I ordered a pen from Jinhao earlier this year and I quite enjoy it. The weight is a big plus for me personally, I like my pens to be at least somewhat heavy
I own that same Jinhao X450. Fair warning here: the ink can dry up and impede the flow after filling it and leaving it be for at least 2 days. Usually twisting the remaining ink into the feed (watch out for overflow) and scribbling gets those thick lines back. (Try reverse writing with it as well.)
I have the pen with the smooth finish that you showed and the cap falls on mine too. Now I won't attempt to see if it stays thanks for the tip. I also like your drawings very nice, I can't draw worth a lick lol. I do use my fountain pens to write letters to pen friends so a smooth nib is so nice.
I bet you know way more than me about this stuff, but the red pigment in inks tends to clog pens faster. I read this a few years ago, but the red comes from iron (?) or something that collects in your feed and nib faster than other colours.
X450 is well known for not posting. Not a big deal, considering how heavy the cap is, and how tail heavy the x450 is when posted. The pen is long enough it does not need to be posted when you are using it, so not a "big deal". You can hold the cap in your off hand, or clip it to your pocket when using the pen. I did "upgrade" to the 2 tone Fine Number 6 nib (available seperately, on Amazon) on the seven I have left ... and 3 that I gave away. The fine writtets as good as the medium, by the way, if you ever decide to switch.)
Call me weird, but I prefer using pens without the cap posted. The shorter length of the pen and less weight makes me feel the sensation of having more control over the pen.

You look like one of those rich princes in those old renaissance oil portraits.

10 and 45? The x450 is like few bucks and the dragon is 12 euro :)
Jinhaos are my go to pens. I love them so much
Sounds like you have never owned a $300 pen. I have many Jinhao, there's no way they would be mistaken for even a $100 pen.

I’m really jealous of your ability to doodle such detailed and amazing pictures.
This one was extremely satisfying to watch because the ink laid down eo smoothly.
I only have one fountain one and its jinhao. I've had it for almost 3 years and works like an absolute charm. I also love the dragon designs on It >•
