Ok I love Alvaro Soler but he's not Latino in the way the word Latino is used in English. Latino means Latin American or of Latin American descent. Look it up in any online English dictionary or wikipedia. Billboard is just using terms without knowing what they mean, or without caring what they mean. No hate to Alvaro Soler tho!!
Latino is a historic word. The world is not only "English people". Latino is all Spanish people inclusive Spaniard (Spanish too no?). Latín is a old language. Spanish is a modern language derivates of the old latín. Latin American are named so because they talk spanish, Portuguese or other Romance language derivates of latín. English are very silly and jealouse. Americana are not only US Citizens. In your dictionary, American or North American is only a US Citizens, no?
True but most of Latin Americans are of European descent (Spanish/German/Italian).
Spaniards are latin Europeans.. So really he is Latino 🤔 You are using the words wrongly, it's like when the citizens of the United States use the word "Americans" to define themselves when really Americans are all the people who inhabit the american continent
@@lorena.3.19.22 You don't really have the right to tell people of a language that they are using the word incorrectly. In English, it is just used differently than in Spanish. You are welcome to use the word "American" to describe someone from Mexico, but nobody who speaks English will understand what you're saying.
Growing up Latino? When he's Catalan/Spanish? Why not ask Adele how she liked growing up American 🤨
People from Spain are Latins too even when they're not from America. They're latins cause their language came from Latin. You dumbass
@@BrandonGali It's short for Latinoamericanos actually. Would you all Italians Latino? French Latinos?
i mean he agreed to do the video, @@sheisveryfamous, and his music is definitely latin-crossover. it's a grey area, maybe billboard can revisit this topic with an artist like rosalia?
Latino refers to the people that use a language derived from Latin.
Notice how nobody is hating but on Rosalia’s video...
😍😍😍😍😍
great interview but maybe 'hispanic' would be a a better word? Hispanic means Spanish speaking, so it encompasses both Spain and Latin America. But latino solely means 'from Latin America', and he is clearly from Europe....totally different continent. As someone said in the comments you wouldn't ask Adele 'what its like to grow up American' just because she speaks English. The UK and US are different. Same with Spain and Latin America.
Spaniards are Latinos. The word latino comes from the Italian region where Latin language was born. Italians, Portuguese, Spaniards, as well as Latin American people, are latinos too. Latin America got that name because of the Latin Europeans that conquered it. Otherwise, it wouldn't have Latin in the name and would be called something else. Just because latinoamericano is usually shortened to latino in the US, doesn't mean that the word latino doesn't have a wider meaning in other countries.
Well, they all speak Latin so they can be considered as Latino as well. Just saying
@@Tamiguchi The real Latins are European, not bloody native Americans that speak Spanish !
“What wrong with you?” 🤣
The ignorance in this comment section is ridiculous. Spaniards ARE latinos. So are Italians, French, and Portugese people. They all speak languages derived from Latin. Latinoamericano is usually shortened to latino in the US, but that doesn't mean that the word latino doesn't have a wider meaning in the rest of the world.
You're ignorant, there are different definitions on who you ask. Not to mention that nobody in their right mind thinks of the French as Latino
LMAOO french, italians and spaniards are not latinos. They're language is latin but they themselves aren't
Exactly! I am seeing that in America there is a lot of ignorance.. They live in their little world and don't realize that in Europe we use the word Latin to refer to countries with a Latin language.. 🙄
👌🏻👍👍👍
HE'S not latino he's from Spain//half German
Lucien Comedy Yes. French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and even Romanians are ALL LATIN, they all derive from Anciient Latin. Do your research!!!!
@@peterk3145 Exactly. They are just confused for Latin America, yet they don't realize that this region arose thanks to Latin Europe, mainly Spain and Portugal, which makes Latin America a branch of Latin culture. It's evident, but they are too stubborn to understand it.
SOFIAAAAAAA!
How is his accent German when he grew up in spain
It's the third culture kid accent you get from going to international school. A weird mashup of pan-european north american english. It sounds foreign to everyone. The germans will think his german accent sounds foreign too
He speak all kind of languages 😂
@@daniellowe4090 his German does not sound foreign at all, neither does his Spanish. In fact he has a very neutral accent when he speaks any of these two languages.
HE'S NOT LATINO.
Yes he is.. He is Spanish 🤔
@@lorena.3.19.22 Spanish, Not latino
@@thisbitchshonest7171 Latin European.. Where do you think the word Latino comes from?
@al rode Of course all these countries are Latin! In fact If a Spaniard travels to the United States he is classified as Latino and not as white. That is something very curious because we are really also white haha but if an Italian goes to the United States they classify him as white 🤔🤔 So if we are Latinos to qualify at the border, why not for an award?
@@yowhatsdis Iʼm sorry to break it to you, but HE ISNʼT
How many languages does Alvaro speak? Lol
7, I think, and he's more or less fluent in all of them.
Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian (his mother is spanish-belgian), German (his father is german), Japanese (they lived in Japan for seven years - from age 10 to 17) and English
Wowwww amazing! such a polyglot
Haha cute he has an German accent XD
Spanish are not latinos lol
Yes they are
No they aren't
Latino refers to people that use a language derived from Latin.
1
Since when Spaniards counted as Latino?
Since always. Latin culture comes from Rome
@@yowhatsdis If you wanna talk about the real term then the real latinos are Italians, Spaniards,French, portuguese and romanian... nothing has to do with brown people from america just bcs they speak one of latin-derived languages
@@Nich-ib7xv I wanna talk about Latin culture, which is the reason why this person is being interviewed... the interview is not about his skin colour.
Native Americans or brown people as you called them did not invent the Latin culture. And they are called like that just because they are Americans who speak a Latin based language.
@@yowhatsdis Sure but im sick of people in the US that believe "hispanic" and "Latino" as race just because they speak spanish or portuguese but nit with the anglophones
@@Nich-ib7xv Well, you'll live frustrated for a long time if your ease depends on what they say. You shouldn't care, everyone knows they are not very cultivated individuals. By the way, Latin America and Latin Europe are strongly related culturally speaking. They are mainly Catholic societies that speak intelligible languages and share values as to considering paramount their families and their proclivity to celebrate more, such things... I'm not sure whether both regions are too different... For the vast majority of Latin American countries, who were viceroyalties obviously linked to Spain (and Portugal) for 300 years clearly they inherited very specific traits and their culture. I'm Mexican and I can tell you that some of my best friends are from Spain. I don't feel they are too different, but rather as if I were talking to other Mexican buddies when I'm with them. Cheers
He’s not Latino though 😂
He is, but not Latin American if that's what you mean. He comes from Latin Europe, which exists as a cultural subregion in Europe.
It always pisses me off a little bit when I hear people speak English as their second language better than I speak it as my first
How much language he knows?!!!!

Does all Spanish people look like this?😯
Most of them.
@@michaljezek2664 ok I'm migrating to Spain or Germany then.
Nope, u wish
He is not latino…
Er hat ALSO gesagt oder ?😂😂
He is European, not Latino.
He is Latin European. Not Latin American if that's what you mean. Nonetheless that doesn't make him less Latino since Latin culture comes from Europe.

Latino? Get your labels right.
Latino yes latinoamerican no

He's not American.. LatinAMERICAN is called that because it was conquered by Latin people. Spaniards are Latin and the reason why Latin America has that name
HE'S NOT LATINO
Stop putting Spaniards!!! We ain't the same!!
