Making the move from Samsung to Huawei, going from the S8 + to the P30 Pro. Pre ordered the 512gb version in red which looks fantastic! Very impressed with Huawei and it’s features, I love photography in particular and excited to use what is one of the best cameras on the market currently on a smartphone. Got a free Sonos One for pre ordering too 👍🏻 I am embracing the Chinese revolution in technology, incredible the scaremongering going on by the US in particular against Huawei. I think they know that the Chinese tech revolution is unstoppable! Excited and hope the move to Huawei is a wise one, been nothing but impressed with what I have seen with the P30 Pro.
Daniel Sin yeah heard about the UI, but hopefully this will improve with updates. The P30 Pro ticks the boxes for what I am looking for more than the Samsung 10+ Looking forward to getting my hands on the Pro🔥🐉
I switched from P20pro to P30pro yesterday and I can confirm that especially in terms of camera-performance it is worth to spend the money. Battery runtime and charging options are perfect. But as expected, I'm not really happy with the curved screen - and even if the fingerprint sensor works really well, I preferred it at the position below the screen since I used it for android navigation and i liked to have it on the clearly defined and tangible position.
Can't agree with you. Tried out the the P 30 Pro in the store & 4k stabilization with the wide angle lens, better selfie quality with bigger zoom capabilities alone don't justify the upgrade. My P 20 Pro is still blazing fast, running Android 9.0 Pie Similar app opening speeds, similar screen quality. Capacitive fingerprint scanner is much more reliable and quicker than the in-display one on the P30 model. On the picture quality side, I can see the similar pattern with Huawei's processing crushing the blacks, sharpening and solid dynamic range. I would definitely recommend buying the P20 Pro nowadays because it offers a huge value since its been out for a year now & you can find it around 400euro territory
P20 pro is still a good phone but you are getting a better processor, camera, battery, bigger screen and reverse wireless charging. So technically there are upgrades in almost every angle
@@danielsin Don't get me wrong, the P30 IS the better phone. You can write down at least 10 upgrades from the previous model. But the real life usage & benefit for the average user? Value is definitely on the P20 Pro side
@@1c2reative of course. Price is still good for what p20 pro offers but its nice when upgrading to a new model, Huawei p30 actually gives people a good amount of upgrades vs other bigger companies where you mainly get a "performance" upgrade.
@@danielsin I am about to upgrade from an S8 (yes tired and true - I am usually 2 years behind the 'current model') and while I want the P30 pro the P20 pro is basically half price at this point... telecom companies are trying to get rid of stock so they are giving you even better deals on contract than their 'standard' while they cant do that for P30 pro as its the 'new thing'.
@@1c2reative Totally agree, I using p20 pro for a year and it's absolutely fantastic phone for me, and few days ago I bought p30 pro for my wife, and I sadly disappointed with p30 pro, I was expecting to much probably.. Definitely not gonna upgrade my p20 pro to p30 next year..
Thank you for the review. Definitely a huge upgrade. I wonder how does the P30 Pro compare with the Mate 20 Pro though, considering the latter is considered one of the best of 2018. ☺
Worth the upgrade? No! There is no way the "camera upgrade" justifies to switch from the P20 pro to the P30 pro. We are talking about a $1000+ phone. The wide angle lens is nice but it's missing the monochrome lens from the P20 pro. I would always take the monochrome over the wide angle (but maybe that's just me). If you consider to spend this amount of money just for some "better" camera (you just talking about the cameras so I won't mention the other upgrades) go and buy a DSLR. You can get a mid-range body and some really nice lenses for the same price you would spend on the P30 pro.
From what Huawei says, their super spectrum camera takes out the greens and puts in yellows to intake more light. Therefore not needing the extra help of the monochrome sensor anymore. I think if you're coming from the p20 pro, the p30 pro offers a lot of areas that can be upgraded vs other bigger companies that usually just have a performance bump.
Been impressed with Huawei p20pro and p20 smartphones and soon I'm getting p30pro and it's nice to know p30pro is better but I'll still keep my other Hauwei phones. I love doing Astrophotography with Huawei phones!
Excellent review, and I like the side by side stuff. It makes understanding the differences a breeze. I've shot a lot of black and white photos this year with the P20 Pro. Any comments / comparisons re the black and white capabilities of the P30 Pro, please?
Thank YOU so much!!! I will start to saving extra money on the side to replace my S8+ for P30 pro. Now I know that P20 pro isn't option anymore :) Greetings from Serbia bud!
Delayed reaction, but this is exactly the video I needed, thank you for being so thorough. How do the cameras compare in terms of representing colours accurately to real life? Especially darker turquoises/greens and magenta/purple shades? (I work with hair so the edge recognition thing is good to know too)
Thanks, it’s been awhile since I used the P30 but the overall pics still tend to lean towards the greener side. Which is very inaccurate. I would say the generation before the P30 projects colors better.
Does the Huawei P20 Pro destroy the P30 Pro for Monochrome, I know the P30 Pro has a Monochrome camera bit in it but thd P20 Pro has a dedicated Monochrome Sensor, is there a big difference for out of camera results or not, i only shoot monochrome.
@@danielsin are you saying on monochrome = Black and White, you can not see any difference between the Huawei P20 Pro and Huawei P30 Pro on Monochrome = Black and White.
How is the screen quality of the p30 Any gluegate issue or any pixelation issues on the camera when cropping 200 percent Please zoom the pic when u take in 1x zoom and check the detail lvl
Hey man thanks for the concise and helpful review. I wonder why 4k 60fps isn't supported on the p30 pro, not enough power? And I've seen the quality at 4k is nowhere near as sharp compared to an s10 or iPhone xs.. Details are so smudged.
This is pre release software. Don't judge it so quickly. They will more than likely fix the issues with software updates. I also think the blur is too harsh on the portrait mode shots . Looks kinda un-natural. S10+ portrait shots look way better with less blur and more natural look.
Omfg everytime I get a new phone they always make another new one like just a few months later, and it makes me want a new phone already. I just got the P20 Pro.. :/ P.s it's kinda stressful that the p30 wins on EVERYTHING ¬_¬
thanks for that. No major upgrade in P30 that's all I wanted to know I'm staying with my P20 pro
Haha you're welcome! Glad I helped
Haha. Major upgrade. Camera much better. The zoom??......
@@tomboy111 camera much better? I can't see that.
Also own P20 Pro. Especially at low light differences don't seem that big. Not really worth the upgrade
