For some reason, the pacific missions always gave me more anxiety and fear than the Russian missions. You weren’t fighting a conventional enemy like the German army, around every corner was another Japanese soldier willing to fight until they win or die. Every time you stepped forward you couldn’t tell if you’d be walking through a normal area or directly into an ambush. And as time went on they only got more common and more bloody, a real way to portray the pacific and make the player anxious all at once.

My favorite parts of Burn 'Em Out is getting into position in front of one of the dug out entrances and just filling the cave with fire. Flamethrowers were often necessary to clear these sorts of caverns but my God imagine being a Japanese soldier and being trapped in the room as you're consumed by flame. That's a horrible, horrible death.
Despite the sheer power of the Nazi's panzers and shock troops that rolled into the USSR, the Pacific Theatre missions in this game scared me most. Being a bit of a history buff, I've known about most of their battle tactics, yet the ambushes and screaming with bayonet in hand scares the living shit outta me. Idc how old you are, from when I first played the campaign as like a 8 year old, to now, those Japanese jungles scare me. Well done Treyarch, I miss when COD was this damn good.
@kc korea ye I'd have to say taking on the Japanese was definitely new, not to mention the CONSTANT ambushes and aggression, I once ran away 'cause I needed to reload and they were pressing a Bonzai charge on me, only to die 'cause they wouldn't stop chasing me... I don't remember how far I ran but it was definitely ridiculous.
Both campaigns are awesome and done right. In the Pacific Campaign: Everyone is exhausted and want the war to come to and end. They fight because they just wanna end it all and go home. In the Russian Campaign: Everyone is full of rage and anger towards Germans, they want to extract revenge, bring the war itself to them to make them feel the pain. They want to do the same thing to the Germans. Revenge itself for the Russians is actually more important than winning the war itself. They are driven by the rage and lust for blood. Germans are going to die in the most brutal manner.
I disagree. It was a short and simple level to let the flamethrower do some work. It also showed what happens when you have enemies that are in a bunker. Think about it. Theres no wait out, besides the way the player with a flamethrower is at,so they're trapped in a tight space, leaving them to die a terrible death. It also shows that some of the enemies werent even Japanese. Some were Indonesian conscripts that ended up forced to fight for Japan.

One of the best missions in the game. Ever better when you get the flamethrower
Even better when it only overheats and has no ammo
I felt bad using the flamethrower, seeing them scream in pain as they try to put out the flames. No man should die like that.
