I also used to watch Fun Factory every weekend here in the Netherlands. This brought back a lot of fond memories from my childhood, so thank you very much for posting this! :)
I used to sit through the whole morning of FunFactory just to watch Transformers, I think it was one of the last cartoons they showed so it was like an eternity waiting for it to start..I'd do the same on both Saturday and Sunday morning even though it was all the same episodes on both mornings :)
I met Andy one evening in a pub and he knew I was interested in becoming a presenter, so he invited me into Power FM and for a while I regularly visited him.
This is from 1989. The logo changed on the 5th of February 1989 to this. But awesome that you have it! Then in August 1989, the channel got renamed from Sky Channel to Sky One. Gone was the European Time. Now the focus was only on the UK and Ireland. Many in Europe got Sky Europe before Eurosport in the mornings etc.
@@rosamannen Yes. You can see this, ua-cam.com/video/QZ1QveN9SQ4/v-deo.html Your Fun Factory is just some days or weeks after the change. I am a huge Sky Channel fan.
@@rosamannen Yes, this is definitely from 1989, from “the new Sky Channel”. The channel logo, idents & promos looked completely different before Sunday, February 5, 1989 when the old Sky was expanded into an all-new 4-channel Sky Television. Also, Sky Star Search (which is promoted in this clip) only premiered the day after the new Sky TV launch. In fact, based on the UK Top-50 & Monday Night Movie promos, I can pinpoint the exact airdate of this clip from “Fun Factory” - Saturday, June 17, 1989. A little over a month from this, on Monday, July 31, 1989 Sky Channel would be rebranded into Sky One (as it is known to this day), a more fitting name for what had by this point become the principal entertainment channel of then-new Sky Television.
I learned so much english from watching this as a kid. And I remember that at some point there was something me and my bro didn't like, but there was a childrens' morning show on Super Channel at the same time, and it had something we wanted to watch going at the same time, so we'd switch back and forth between the channels. Fun Factory was the better one though. Thanks for uploading this. I did remember the host's name, but this was still filled with a lot of those "Oh yeah, that thing!"-moments.
What I always found a very exciting thought was that when I was watching something, some other kid somewhere "far far away" in Greece for example also was watching it and sending drawnings to the channel. To see those lists of kids like the winners of the contest. This was the childhood of soooo many people in Europe, amazing. Thanks for posting, this really was the cherry on top of my quest trough memorylane....because somehow I totally forgot about the existance of it all, and by seeing this it cracked open some sort of memory cabinet. amazing!
Wow! OMG the memories that come back! Like that cassette game thing in the beginning, the flipsider. I had one of those and had completely forgot! It's 1989 all over again!

Does anyone remember this one show from the 1980's, I think it was in Fun Factory as well. It was an animation cooking show where children made some food or dessert in each episode. What was the name of it? I loved it as a child but can't find it.

Hey, I was a kid in Greece watching it! 😁
@@dimik3724 See. If that's not awesome nothing is haha.
It was a special time for television (and culture in general) we shared bud✌
I loved this as a kid. I watched it every weekend. Such great cartoons.
I came for the fun factory, I stayed for the commercials.
I used to get up at 7:30am on Saturday mornings in England to watch Transformers which was on around 10:30 I believe. I even sat through 'Emily'

You don't have the exakt air date?
@rosamannen I don't unfortunately
Wally the Walrus is freaky as hell.
Had the Transformers Micros TRANSFORMERS EVERY SATURDAY AND WEEKDAY

Pink man is a legend.
I could have sworn Pat Sharpe was the Fun Factory host.
You're thinking of Fun House not Fun Factory
@Manda never watched fun house. We didn't get it in Sweden. For whatever reason, my brain superimposed Pat Sharpe onto this show.
@@alextrivunovic644 well, I have a vague memory of Pat and Mick being guests on one show and performing "Let's All Chant".
Was always a damn kid from the Netherlands that won the prizes. What was that all about?
Every Saturday this was my show.... When I see todays children's TV and I compare than I can say that it's only nonsense (Teletubbies)
Fun Factory paired with something Boze Show(?) and Something Cat Show during the week - this is how I learned English in Germany.
Maybe you refer to “Bart Boos” and the “DJ Kat Show” with Linda de Mol? If you google those you’ll find some images…

The channel actually made that hissing sound didn’t it ? That not because it’s on a 30 year old video tape.😂
