Jodi, I would say that the Barbie Magical Mansion is one of my favorites:)!! I so LOVE that the fireplace lights up as well as the mirrors, lamps, and overhead lights:)!! However, I also LOVE Barbie's horse, 57' Pink Chevy, washing machine, Dryer, Bed with the bow, and Sparkling bubbling Spa:)!! Io I equally LOVED ALL the Ken's outfits:)!! Ken is especially handsome in the cropped yellow shirt:)!! I thought it was hilarious when you said about the hospital looking pajamas " "When Ken was admitted into the mental hospital":)! My favorite Barbie outfits are: Lights and Lace pink as well as blue outfits, My First Barbie Ballerina, My First Barbie Ice Capades, Midge with the tiered skirt, 4853 Barbie in Pink Coat with blue bow and Barret, Happy Birthday Barbie, and the All American Denim looking skirt with vest:)!! I am going to watch Part 2 now:)!!!
That mansion is awesome!! And of course the '57 Chevy! My sister had one in the 80s that was Aqua!

When I was a kid my sister had all these Barbie magazines that had very similar photos and the main event of each number was the photo story, I would always stare at the photos for hours looking at all the tiny details and props, nowadays I loathe Barbie because all the dubious practices of Mattel and how terrible a company they are, but still have tons of these sets as I always pick them up at markets so cheaply and I find them so nostalgic, plus they look amazing in photos especially when repainted...!

Love this! I didn’t know any of these even existed growing up. We barely had any toys but my sister and I still managed to have a lot of fun playing with our barbies together in the early 90s. We each had one Barbie, a ken and a skipper doll. No extra clothes or furniture or accessories. We would combine other dolls to our Barbie families like lady lovely locks and big baby dolls that were at least half the size of Barbie lol the highlight of the day would be when we “drove” them to the other room for vacation in their carrying case. Thanks for sharing, I wish they still made catalogs as visually appealing as this. Oh and I still buy bubble tape 😂
Lynn, I didn't know they still made Bubble Tape! We mixed our dolls too. We had a Dave doll from Alvin and the Chipmunks. He usually was the driver of this funky little "doll" van that my sister had. And most of our doll clothes and the house was homemade. Old sock? No! New Barbie dress! Cardboard box? Nope, Barbie dream house!

Memory
I never had a Dream House, but begged for furniture every year from the Dream Furniture Collection (wicker) through Pink Sparkles....2 years after my doll collecting had been stopped because I was too old. I’m a bigger kid now than ever, so if I ever find either/both that I don’t have to sell my real furniture to afford, they will finally be mine. I hope Ken is finally out of that mental hospital by now. 🤣🤣🤣
I hope Ken got out too! 😂 Most of our Barbie furniture was made of cardboard or pop cans. Remember when people used to make little chairs and tables out of pop cans? I think my grandma might have made them or we found them at a garage sale. Either way, they were sharp and probably not really meant for playing with!
I still have Hawaiian Fun Christie in my Barbie and friends collection.
