Hello Daki! I've been craving a new podcast that I can connect with and today I stumbled across Wool and the Forest! An amazing find, I am going to go back and watch the previous episode. My knitting centres and draws me inward, sadhana captures it beautifully (thank you for that, I've been trying to explain my connection with this fibre craft). Looking forward to future chats.
Unfortunately, embroidery is not my strong suit (I dont think I have the patience for it) however I recently purchased a pattern for a sweater that has some embroidery detail. I am hopeful that I will embroider on wool, because I find it beautiful. Namaskaram.

I hope that you thoroughly enjoyed the movie and time to yourself. I am also a mother of 4 children. My oldest is 19 and my only daughter. My boys are 16, 10, and 7. It is so hard to believe that my daughter is basically an adult. She has been my helper from a very early age. My boys have and still give me so much love and joy.
Wishing you good health and to know when you need to rest.

Thank you for your very sweet words to me, and I see that we probably have many common threads in our lives with the four kiddoes experience. And I instantly recognize what you mean when you talk of your eldest daughter. I have always called my eldest my Right Hand because of how indispensable she has been to me in mothering the youngest two. Although their age gaps are much closer together than yours. Thank you so much for stopping by the podcast and I look forward to chatting with you again soon 🙏🏽☀️

Thank you for the lovely episode. I finally got the time to watch it till the end. I hope you’re getting well soon. My son suffered anemia in his teens because of aiha (an immune desease). Hi Daki! The Floresta is perfect for spring! I'm waiting not so patiently for spring to arrive here. Woke up to 27F/-3C this morning. The trees aren't really doing much of anything yet, but the daffodils are up and there are hints of green. The sorting hats always put me into Ravenclaw. I'm OK with that. I admit I keep looking at that knitted Hedwig and thinking maybe I need a knitted owl. I have real owls who sit in the tree outside my bedroom window, but I can't cuddle them. Pretty sure their interest in looking in my window is the cats who are looking back out at them. I can't seem to make the cats understand that the big birdy is thinking kitten under glass sounds like a marvelous meal (they are indoor cats because we have a lot of predators around here). Have you ever noticed that each breed of sheep has a different scent? Wensleydale smells different than Teeswater, smells different than Jacob, smells different than Icelandic, smells different than Rambouillet, Romney, etc. (even after washing). Jacob and Romney are my favorites for smell and both of them are available to me locally. Lucky me! I hope you manage to get your iron levels up so you feel better. Until next time!

So lovely to hear from you as always, and to hear about all the seasonal changes around your home. I have been tempted by the knitted Hedwig many times myself, I cannot deny! I've never really put my hands to doll or creature knitting, but I have a feeling this summer might be an opportunity to give a few cute critters a try. Spring is really starting to warm up at last here after a very chilly start. But we are grateful for every drop of rain that falls, considering there's already summwr drought warnings for many parts of Washington State. I'm already turning the corner with my anemia and I am so so looking forward to feeling more like myself in the coming weeks. Best wishes to you and thanking you again for making time for the podcast ❤️❤️🙏🏽

Lazy Kate is the name. I so enjoy your podcasts when you find time. As a mother of 4 now grown children, I totally understand finding those precious bits of time for yourself/craft. I love the simplicity of what you do which I see as a reflection of times gone past. Kudos for achieving that : ). Your health will improve. From repairing clothing, to embroidery, to the griffendor wardrobe (I'm reading the series to my children right now!), and especially your deep love and connection to spinning. How do you prepare the Jacob fleece for spinning? I was generously gifted raw alpaca about a year ago and I've learned so much about preparing it! For me personally it’s even stronger when I use the drop spindle. It’s like I don’t know Portals opening to ancient rooms and spaces. It’s so powerful and connecting in many ways. Thanks for talking about all this and showing up with such a quiet and vivid mind and heart even in a physically not so well period. So very nice to see you again. I do hope that you will be better soon regarding the anemia. It hit myself some years ago and I ended up self injecting B12 every other day and also eating a lot of liver and other good meats as well as fat from animals. This has now made a huge difference for me. And I still self inject EOD, probably until my symptoms will subside but I think the rest of my life. I have learnt a lot about B12 recently and it is such an important vitamin which cooperates with so many others like iron, folate and all the other B-vitamins as well as potassium and the uptake can only be done in the form of B12 from the animal kingdom. B12 deficiency has a long row of nasty symptoms as it is one of the most important ones for many different functions in our bodies (from eye sight and tinnitus to trembling and the whole nervous system). So if you haven't, pleas check it up. A deficiency long gone can be irreversibly. Also have a read at the B12 Institute in the Netherlands, they are world leading of the topic.
Your podcast is such a joy to listen to and hear all the stories you tell about the hand craft you make. Thank you for sharing. Thank you so much for your generous message to me and all the information and advice with regards to nutrition! I'm very grateful to you for taking the time for this. I have actually very early on in my battle with low iron, in my one before the last pregnancy, been aware of the key role that B12 plays in anemia itself. It's something I have been tending to along with thr iron issue. For me at least it seems to be closely connected to pregnancy and breastfeeding since I've never had issues with either nutrient outside of these two events. I'm working hard on lessening the nursing load as baby gets older. 🙏🏽☀️

I know as a mother and a wife it's hard to recognize our inherent value and give ourselves the gift of self care, but remember that a dry well quenches no one's thirst. If we don't care for ourselves first, we will soon be unable to care for anyone else.
Years ago I had problems with anemia too. I learned that iron is best absorbed from a high protein meal. Try taking your supplements and/or high iron foods with eggs, meat, fish and fowl for best absorption. Also consider cooking in cast iron as it adds to your regular iron intake.
Blessings to you and your family and increasing good health!

Because I've had iron troubles for so long (although not as bad as the severe anemia I'm going through right now) I've heard all kinds of things about what I should or shouldn't be taking my iron with. With vitamin c, not with vitamin c, with nothing else at all etc. but what you're saying makes much more sense, since naturally the highest food sources of iron are also high sources of protein!

Because I'm new to spinning, I had spun A LOT of fiber that went from super fine to chunky, and from undertwisted to too twisted. It looked like a mess! I used it to knit a simple garter stitch triangular shawl and it turned out beautifully. It's sort of "rugged" looking (not fine and delicate), but I love it. Maybe you can use your "tame art yarn" to knit something using garter stitch. You could use the fine single that is cream colored to add a simple edging to whatever you knit from the "art yarn."

🌴☀️Hello you🙋🏽‍♀️I am somehow just seeing this new video in my feed, I am not able to articulate the emotion I feel knowing theres a new video…I’ve missed you so very much 🌸. I decided to purchased the Harry Potter knitting book as I’m a huge fan as well. My favs are the Dueling Club fingerless mitts, Buckbeak Pullover, House & Transportation Scarfs. I don’t believe I’ve ever purchased a knitting book having totally loved more than 2 projects wow!
I’d love it in a future podcast chat about session if you could share how you learned to spin in a slightly detailed fashion. I’ve considered purchasing a wheel over the past 2 yrs (so costly goodness😱) & value your input on the resource(s) you leaned to (I’m guessing you grew up seeing it🤭first hand). About Anemia: Although it was used as a staple tonic in the home I grew up using Ferrol (is it 1 or 2 “ r’s ”) it has helped me a lot during my adult life also during the menses as well. Also, maybe incorporating some Ragi Millet in your routine. Sending you so much love, peace & creativity, I can’t say enough I’ve missed you terribly. On an intimate note, if I could choose who my mum would be if I return again…it would be you or a woman like you. Take good care sistren☀️🌴

Oh your words are so warming to my heart and I feel like I'm listening to an old friend! You've given me a very good idea here on something I can talk about in the next episode, which is planned to be dedicated entirely to my spinning. Actually I never did see anyone spinning when I grew up, as spinning of cotton is not really a big thing in Sri Lanka, not nearly the same significance as it is in our mother India. Even historically Sri Lanka has mostly taken spun cotton from India and woven it on the island. It is in the weaving and the loom work that's Sri Lanka really excels and stands apart even from India. So this connection I have to spinning, especially to a spinning wheel like this European version which I had never even seen till my own one arrived at my home, is something I simply cannot explain in any other way than genetic karmic memory.
