- More than a decade later, Modern Warfare 2 is back remastered. Here are some of the new details & animations in the campaign. Overall, Beenox has done an incredible job, touching up things here and there.

In the Remastered Version: Ramirez moves the debris out of the helicopter while a fellow Ranger pulls it off.
I dont know if it was in the original, but Ghost looking back at Shephard after he says "thats one less loose end" got me

When ghost looked back he realized what Shepard ment that's why he tried to pull out his gun but he was too focused on roach being shot
Edit: I just realized why roaches death is a black screen yes it is cuz its the opposite of allen dying by Shepard instead of because but it implies that roach closed his eyes while buying alive
The extra detail and animations in the remaster are excellent but one thing that always bugs me (same as in the COD4 remaster) is that the radio traffic always sounded much better in the original versions. They’re less clear and much more static sounding, which just adds to the overall ambience. I wish they never changed that part.

Yeah they gutted the music in the remaster. Its very noticable if you play the campaigns back to back

In Cliffhanger, the enemies on the heartbeat sensor actually show up as white dots in the remastered version.
In the original, they're shown in cyan even though MacTavish says "Any unrecongized contacts will show up as white dots".

One thing they changed in the Remastered version is the soldiers making sure to put gasoline on Ghost as well as Roach. In the 2009 original, no gasoline was shown to be poured on Ghost, prompting people to come up with theories that Ghost was alive. Infinity Ward added it to say " nope, he's... he's dead."
People thought he was still alive after taking a Smith and Wesson to the forehead at point blank range? It's not like death can stop a ghost, anyway. He'll just keep coming back...with endless sequels and reboots, and that one game from 2013 we pretend never happened lol.

in the original: during the waterfall scene in the last mission. price is static on the zodiac, in the remastered: he just off the boat and dive in the water
ghost is also now animated when the missile is being launched by price
In the Remaster Version: After the Number is destroyed, Dunn tries to help Allen up before retreating back into the building by gunfire
One of the winter enemies doesnt have a regular ski mask anymore, they have a mouthless ski mask and more visible eyes.
You missed one detail At 2:31 when Soap says that he will use the thermal scope to provide overwatch. In the original, the model was just the normal scope model for the M21 EBR. But in the remaster they changed it to the thermal scope model.
That one about Cpl Dunn talking to Allen in the Pit is also in the original but the rest is all new
Correct, it is in the original, but for some reason they didn’t subtitle the dialogue originally? Don’t know what’s up with that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
it isn't subtitled in the original, and its only there if you hang around and dont enter The Pit.
all remastered should be like this, new details, clean up the game add little things without upsetting the original game

The original cliffhanger mission is a pain to climb up the ice
Half the time you'd fall for no reason or the game wouldn't register the trigger pulls to ascend the ice wall

The remaster has beautiful animations. I really wish Spec Ops and multiplayer was in this too. Such a beautiful remaster with lost potential.

Also in Wolverines! instead of hosing down the dude who lands on the roof during the starting car ride, the vehicle ahead will only shoot a short spray when he reaches the top of the roof. It comes off as rather cold.
The remastered reminds me to bring back the memories of original mw2 2009 when I was young.

Also, in the remastered version, in The Only Easy Day... Was Yesterday you can now go up to the guy by the railing just before the first breaching section and melee kill him. In the original, going near him alerts the enmies so they kill the hostages.
Am pleasantly surprised to see this video trending in 2022 with the release of Modern Warfare II (2022), the sequel in the reboot of the original series. Thank you all for the kind comments and noting the additional small details not covered here.

In the original mw2 of Gulag, the bombardment does actually punch a hole in the structure, but it's higher up and is still the reason why they have you remove your night vision because of the light shining through.
If I remember correctly, there's a falling animation if you fall to your death off a building
There were also two smooth changes:
In the cutscenes of Gen Shepherd's speech in the second Afghanistan mission, there was a short analysis of the Humvee and the M1128 MGS as a weapon system. In the Remaster, they cut that out. This happened because at the time they were developing this game, there was a legal dispute between Activision and AM General over the use of the Humvee in their games (Activision won), but in the game there was that cut and the HMVs are also relatively modified to avoy any problem.
The second change was in the position that Roach and Soap arrive in the CH-46 Sea Knight in the "Cliffhanger" mission, in the original you arrived straight near the rear ramp of the helicopter, in the Remaster you arrive on the right while Soap arrives in the player's original position.
The Short Afghan soldier in the beginning is changed to Kneeling one.
Cpl Dunn dialogue was in original game too.
And the russian dude is still looking for food in the fridge in That one mission in a town

Price’s late warning to Ghost about not trusting Shepherd is subtitled this time, in the original it was heard loud and clear but drowned out by the equally loud music

You forgot when you can kill the two pilots in the ending
And the breaching events. There are variety of breaching animations in the remastered. However, in the original, there's only one. LOL
@@patrickplays9694 Correct me if im wrong, but i think there were three people that stumbled out of the plane in the original. Now there are only two. in the original one was crawling on the ground, one was stumbling through the sandstorm, and one was trying to shoot you but was out of rounds for some reason.

The pilots can be killed in the original, but they added animations of the pilots attempting to fight back in the remake
In mission 12 you can see the submarine are different
In old mw2 submarine is belgorod class But in remaster is delta class

Also on cliffhanger, the first 2 enemies you see you can sneak up on them and meele kill them with your pickaxes. It's brutal.
Notice also how in the OG, they had radio chatter during the Second Sun astronaut segment when Houston says: "We may have a problem." you can hear brief radio chatter when he ends the line and it stops whereas remastered, it's removed

5:25 That's not true. The giant hole in the wall is there in the Original MW2 as well. That's the bit that encourages you to remove your night vision goggles via outside bright light as you don't actually need them beyond that.

Is it me, or does ghost’s animation make it look like he had a split second to kill Shepard before he died
You missed the new detail they added in the favela mission where Rojas' right hand man picks up the rifle from a gangster he killed whereas in the original version he sticks to firing his Deagle - judging from the sound - at you which weirdly can fire at a faster rate and has more ammo than usual...
There is 5 times you hear roach's voice (6 if you count his breathing when recovering from bullets), his scream when jumping to the helicopter in Hornet's Nest, his scream when falling off of the roof in Hornet's Nest, his strained noises went jumping onto a high surface, and his pained breathing when the missle hits the gulag in the mission you save price(i forgot the name of the mission), and if thats his scream, the scream when his jeep gets hit by an rpg in Team Player
You play as PFC Allen in Team Player
In the endgame mission soap also doesn't spin the knife in the remaster
You missed one thing that in endgame, when Price shoots grenade launcher, the helicopter destroyed and boat falls on a waterfalls and they both jump and swim.
In original, they didn't act when the boat falls on a waterfall.
So Roach carrying 20 mags instead of 26 mags in his pouch, pretty accurate max if a standard Military loadout
They actually made sure that ghost gets fully covered in gasoline so the community would stop thinking he's alive, funny and sad :'(
I hope whatever this not-DLC-DLC for MWII takes the WW3 setting. Something about MW2 and 3 taking place in real places (Washington DC for that matter) made it so much better than Desert 1, Desert 2, and random neighborhood in Texas...
during the remastered gulag mission, I was disappointed that they didn't swap out the f-15s for f-18s since the operation involved the US navy

At 0:55 No blood on vehicles is not realistic wonder why did they took it off
Note: You forgot about 2 animation from cliffhanger
1 from the beggining when killing the two guys if you get closer roach will kill them with a pickaxe
and 2 if you melee the guy from the chair silently with a knife
actually, considering that the vehicles were bullet proof there would not be blood on the outside. Also, blood does not actually splatter against surfaces like that.

I think they were referencing the movie Black Hawk Down in the original release, that scene where the Humvees come back to the base covered in blood.
Fun fact: The guy who voiced Sargent Foley also voiced Barricade in the various Transformers games from 2007

I just noticed this…..there’s something off about the EMP/nuke in DC.
1) the effects are felt by the astronauts almost as soon as they are felt in Florida. It would take way longer to reach the astronauts than a few seconds (the concussion not the radio communication.)
2) if the explosion was enough to feel in space…….how in the ever loving hell is DC not just pure dust, let alone not riddled with enough radiation to immediately kill every living soul that breathes a single breath?

I don’t like how they changed Shepherd’s animation in “Team Player”. Ik by today everybody knows Shepherd’s a piece of shit but the fact that the first interaction with the player is a positive one, just adds to the “shock” of finding out that he’s a rat.
I just don’t like obvious foreshadowing and devs grabbing you by the hand, that’s all
Yeah the new game makes him look really cartoonishly evil with the thicker mustache and aggression. In the original, he looks like a nice dude who's seen some shit and even showing remorse at TF141's death. Like you said, it emphasised his betrayal
idk why but for me the UCP fatigues in the remastered is a little more darker than the MW2 original

One thing that bothers me with both this and CoD4R is that the hands are huge lol, like their fingers are as long and thick as the handguard. All in all the addition of Yuri is great & I love the improvements in terms of details but Shepherd being "mean" in the beginning felt like an odd change.
Makes sense to me, he's already decided that he's going to use Allen as a pawn and deliberately leaked info to Makarov that he's a spy just to be used as a scapegoat in the airport start the Russian invasion of the US. What I never understood is am I really supposed to believe that Allen would straight up gun down hundreds of civilians just because its his job? That's not "costing him a piece of himself" he's totally willing to do it and it's just never talked about

Dunn's dialogue was always there, they just added subtitles to it.
Was there air at geostationary orbit? If not, then the ISS wouldn't have been destroyed and astronauts died in space from the blast, but loss of communication. I also noticed that the astronaut was communicating with Houston mission control. Idk if the nuke will affect only the East coast, but Texas as well which led to cutting off from Houston by the nuke
