What an amazing quote of G B Shaw: "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man." I love it, Stephen Fry!!
I wish these kinds of interviews were more celebrated than the usual pop culture. We need really smart people interviewing really smart people. I wish this were an hour long.

What a wonderful conversation from two of my favorite people!
***** b/c intellectual dialogue isn't the kind of refuge that most people seek or yearn for...videos of puppies, boobs and butts, fights, accidents and celebrities; that's what they want. Nothin' wrong with that too
@@densmorde4520 that's a bit intense?!. Maybe awareness how often Fry is touching his nose/beard is disturbing.. Even pre Covid times... Very disturbing especially because its accompanied by drop of volume/swallowing his words.
Oh goodness no. The beard is UN-ACCEPTABLE. If Gladwell had one - some horrible genius beard duel - it'd all be over for intellectual sitdowns! Thx for the upload Guardian. D.A. NYC
U of Michigan. . It is estimated that between 5-10% of the population has dyslexia, but this number can also be as high as 17%. Cf 30% as quoted I have no point here, just the bit of research.
Gladwell has some fascinating ideas but the concept of taking two seemingly disparate fields and melding them together to make a cogent argument was originally perfected by the great James Burke.
You could also look into social network theory (especially the concept structural holes) or into the way in which the philosophy of science has developed. To get a grib on some terminology and historical that will clarify a great deal.

"..refuse to take that conventional notion that because they're underdog they have to play dead..." this is why I always enjoy listening to Gladwell.

Utopia spawns few warriors, Myopia spawns few long distance runners....
Wait! Who is interviewing whom?

+Steve Veasey are you English?
Tej DIvadkar
Yes..
haha Knew it
James Burke was hardly unique in that. What you describe is fundamental to all creative thinking and artistic activity.
