Soil testing technology with instant results on the farm

The Kenya Agricultural Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) has been undertaking research that will result in improved capacity and efficiency of analytical services and fertilizer use in soils.
The research project has been undertaken since 2020 under the Kenya Climate Smart Agricultural Project (KSCAP) in 5 counties under 3 value chains namely Banana in Kericho and Bomet counties, Green grams and Pigeon peas in Machakos and Irish Potatoes in Nyandarua and Nyeri Counties.

I have a hard time believing it works as explained, just based on crop and location alone we know what to add, and what kind of soil we are working with. I would need to bring several soils to the same area to see if it showed any difference at all, seems cool but may be a clever deception.
