Kempty Falls is a popular picnic spot located at 15 km from Mussoorie city. Situated at a height of 4500 ft between Mussoorie valley.
Kempty Falls was developed as a tourist destination by British officer John Mekinan, around 1835. The name Kempty is probably derived from the word 'camp-tea'. A stream of water running throughout the year starting from the southwest of the village of Bangalow ki Kandi moves northwest and falls from 4,500 ft. Splitting into five other cascades, the waterfalls a further 40 feet.
The nearest medical centers are at Dehradun, Mussoorie and Kempty, the nearest railway station at Dehradun, and the nearest airport the Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun. The Kempty Falls and the area around is surrounded by high mountain ranges at an altitude of 4500 feet. There is an estimated tourist inflow to the Falls of over 10 lakh (one million)

I remember I was 9 when I visited this place....my uncle n aunt used to live in Dehradun n so we visited this place ! But in April 2021 my uncle n aunt died due to covid n m feeling so nostalgic n emotional on seeing this place .......my heart is heavy n m just about to cry 😭

I visited in the year 1974 at kemty falls when there were only 30 visitors at that time.
They have ruined the natural beauty of the fall, at the bottom of the fall concrete buildings everywhere. I went there and left area within five minutes.
Absolutely right . The whole beauty of Mussoorie and dehradun have been destroyed by construction. Infact all natural places got destroyed by creating buildings and roads and concrete.
Totally agree with you....i visited in 2001 ...it was much beautiful and with fewer people that time... people destroyed natural beauty of this place...so sad😢

All of sudden changes in climate in Mussoorie and tourist rush is another problem in Mussoorie which increase the problems for the locals ..and now a days drinking water is also not available in suitable areas in Mussoorie .... Lot of traffic jam in Mussoorie now a days people are coming from Delhi and other plain cities to hilly areas .....and now there is huge traffic jam nearly 4 to 5 km ..daily .... And it's create problems for locals .....

Just below the fall there is a small pool. This is the place where North Indians who could not go to Simla or Nainitaal converge to get relief from scorching summer. For a moment, ignore the unruly crowd. Or you may pay upto 1500 bucks for parking. And everything else. There was poop floating in the pool. Why would someone want to get into a pool with poop? I noped. Avoid this place.

Overrated waterfall... Waterfalls of Jharkhand like Dassam fall, Hundru fall, Sita fall, Jonha fall, hirni fall, Lodh fall, Moti jharna, Bhatinda falls etc are much more scenic, much more beautiful with 8-10 times more elevation ... With very less crowd and still untapped...
