People just remove the battery and the plastic around it. Then you also clamp the upper hose and remove the clamp holding it to radiator. Move hose out of the way and you can slide the fan assembly out towards the battery once you remove the two screws holding it in place.. Don't go through all this.

Seems like it would have been a good time to put in new hoses as well. And wow, lots of rust! Where is this car from? What state?
