Book of Boba Fett Slave 1 | Toy Conversion
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- The Book of Boba Fett has brought back the iconic Slave 1 Firespray Gun Ship. With it, it also brought back the nostalgia I had as a kid for the toy version of that ship. So today we are going to take part in a Toy Conversion of that cherished childhood collectable.

Beautiful work, man! So many satisfying moments in this video. Really enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
Oh my the way that wash flows thru the lines and curves really makes a statement about weathering technique!!!!
Right!!!! I am in love with oil washes now! You should check out Black Magic Craft's episode on making them. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/K3ki1nzH5zQ/v-deo.html
I love the boldness to continue 'playing' with the toys of our childhood by doing what we might have done if we had the bank accounts we have as adults. And the continual pursuit of tearing down cardboard walls. I love the creativity and vision of your projects....and the ability to narrate beyond tutorial style and tap into another level of entertainment
Thank you so much Garland!
You've unlocked so many good memories! And that paint job is stellar!
Thank you my friend. Really appreciate it!
What a beautiful improvement. I love that you're not precious about keeping everything original.
Really looked great in the end, and it brought back so many memories of the Kenner toys I had as a kid. Another great video to watch over my morning coffee -- thanks for posting this!
Thanks for always watching!!
Kenner had some amazing Star Wars toys.
I would have a hard time modifying my toys but I have to admit, that came out amazing! I love it! Great job. I totally understand where you are coming from. There are different type of collectors and each has to do what makes them happy. Again, great job!
Thank you Eddie!
I always modified my toys when I was a kid. That led me into scale molding and scratch building in my teens and early 20's I've lost a lot over the years but I still have some and now I want to pull them out along with my old model builds and rework them and display them. Thanks!!!
Sweet! Can't wait to see what you do!
i had a toy like this one, maybe newer though growing up and i lost both the wing pieces. it was a good toy
Haha my Mom done the same thing! I love this, my view is that you have turned a nice collectors piece into a masterpiece! I like to call it turning something undesirable into undeniable! Great stuff!
Very cool! thank you!
A really awesome conversion. I like how you have the memories of this toy and are making new ones with this transformation.
Thank you Wayne! Yeah, I debated that for a while, but I like the memories too much.
WOW! Yet ANOTHER GREAT BUILD! I've been a Modeler since I was about six or so. Both my dad and my older brother taught me SO MUCH!
I'm almost 57 now and THIS is going to be my NEXT PROJECT! I bought a Complete "Slave One" at a rummage sale last Summer for $5.00!
But that wasn't the ONLY Star Wars toy I snagged! I also snagged two of the later "X-WINGS" when they made it more accurate for the 3.75" Figs. and a whole BUNCH Of vintage Star Wars figures! I spent about $12.00 and walked away with a HUGE BOX Of stuff!
So this was a definite Inspirational Video!
Thanks. And My the FORCE Be With You! :D
Nostalgia!!! I love it! Great paint job bro.. great storytelling too 👊 what a lovely addition to "The Pit"
thank you sir! Glad you liked it!
WOW!! 😲Took me back to when I was a kid playing with my Tie Fighter chasing my brother with his Millennium Falcon! Love this B!!! Thank you for sharing it with us; it came out amazing, Beast Work!!!
So glad you enjoyed it Bro! Thank you as always for watching!
I got a sense of nostalgia watching this video, I actually still have many of my Hasbro star wars figures and vehicles from the 70's and 80's, all of which show wear and tear from the 'battles' of my childhood imagination. You never grow out of it!
Looks great! Nice weathering. Never saw rubber cement used for chipping. You learn something new every day! Model on!
Thanks 👍. Glad we could pass that along!
Great work. The end result looks really nice. I took this down another route a few years back making it still toy like, but with better stickers and lights. You may like to check that out.
Cool, thanks! That would be great to see. I will go check it out!
It's really neat to see two of my favorite UA-cam channels connecting! The first thing I thought of when Brian started working on this was Dave's video from a while back. Keep up the great work (both of you)!
@@jeremy_page Thank you!
Ok, I must say.. this video and its narration felt like it described my feelings to a "T".. reminiscent of James' bench build, this drew on the nostalgia of Star Wars and my childhood that reminds me of the absolute joy this franchise has given me. Thank you for keeping that spirit alive.. When I saw that Slave 1 fire spray model and followed along as you dissected the piece I felt at ease knowing you were the one doing this "re-imagining" of that scale model. It was then that I realized we make our own determinations on what gives anything value in this life, there are no set rules or standards.. Thank you for awakening the creator in us all and being the vehicle that has delivered us there.. In other words good build lol
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend. So very glad you enjoyed it. It gave me such a thrill to work on it, and I am very happy to hear it was well recieved!
Great job! That’s not an “H” for Hasbro, btw. That original version of that toy was made by Kenner. Hasbro didn’t purchase Kenner until the late 90’s.
Thanks. Yeah, forgot to clarify in our edit. I knew the toy was a 1981 Kenner, which was why I was surprised it had an Hasbro “H”
Let the collectors seethe. Their hoarded mint-in-box versions just went up in value. You however made that piece of plastic look like we always imagined it did when we were kids. Outstanding work.
Thank you!
I've been staring at my 1981 Slave 1 and wanted to do this for quite a while. I'm also missing the same piece and I'll look for a similar replacement. Love the bigger idea of your space and am looking forward to seeing more! Great work!
Both amazing and inspirational!!! Thank you so much for making this video.
. . . and thank you so much for watching!
Amazing job, love the paint and weathering. I can see both sides of keeping it the way it was and improving it, but im with you as far as improving and keeping it around for a long time to come.
Thank you!
@@TheSmugglersRoom 04:37 Good Job 👍!
That's *one watery job to done* here...💧!
This is so beautiful. It's something like your inner child meeting the child you were in the past.
Thank you! That’s what I thought too!
I love your content. Not because I’m a huge star wars fan or even make near as much or as well as you…. But because every build is humble and realistic. Keep it up, the ship looked great!
I appreciate that! Thank you!
This is the way all SW toys should have looked! Although after years of...love, mine were pretty dingy and distressed. LOL. Great work Brian! Love the tips and details!
Totally agree my friend. Thank you so much!
I had a Slave I as a kid (yeah, I'm that old!) Thanks for giving the Old Girl new life! haha
Brilliant!!! I have a Slave 2 up in the loft, might just have to give it a once over. .
Sweet!!!
Awesome. Doing these mods to your toys make it more valuable than mint condition.
my feeling exactly. I love the way it gives it new life!
Great mod! This is the toy we wished Kenner/Hasbro would have given us! I’m currently slowly modding my Big Millenium Falcon. My goal is to put lights in interior and cockpit using fiber optics. I did a wash on it a long time ago but now it’s time to paint the full interior and trick it out.
Your Slave I looks amazing. I’ve used the liquid latex weathering Boba Fett helmet and yes it is expensive. Thanks for the tip on rubber cement! I had forgotten about that stuff. The last time I used it was in elementary school! I can’t wait to see The Pit!
You killed this restomod! Good on you for doing what you wanted with YOUR ship! AWESOME.
Thank you !
😲cutting into ship 😲 putting rubber cement in air brush. Result, awesome! So glad you did this.
LOL, thank you! I didn't actually put rubber cement in the airbrush, but I did use rubber cement. Thanks for watching!
Looks beautiful, great upgrade for this vintage toy. I think I will use the rubber cement technic in the future, thanks for sharing this project. Greetings
Thank you! Please do, it's a cheap and easy solution for sure. Thanks for watching!
Wow!!! You guys never disappoint!!! I have many x-wing fighters and several millennium falcons and I would love to do something like this to one or two of them!!! Great work as always and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for your room build!! I’m sure it will be epic! Shark!!
You should!! I have a few Falcons laying around . . . i think that's next ;). Thank you for watching!
Absolutely loved this. I have the 1996 POTF version of this and I was looking for inspiration to do the same thing. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
It looks so cool.
Incredible paint job, this is awesome!
Thank you
I just bought the power of the force version of this....it's already painted in these colors. Yours looks amazing!
Thank you very much!
Looks awesome. I built the Imperial shuttle Tyderium model kit back in 1984, looked too clean so I did my own weathering. Still have it today
Love the Tyderium shuttle! I have one of those toys, maybe it deserves a mod?
Great job, hope you do the vintage Slave 1 conversion with the latest version!
Fantastic build! I’m now looking at my die cast star destroyer and thing about paint and lighting!
Awesome!
I repainted a Revell snap and play falcon using similar methods. Turned out awesome. I love improving stuff with weathering!!!
Awesome!
Love the improvements. You’re a genius. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching!
I loved the comment about some freaking out about doing that to a vintage toy. However I find it fascinating, I’d be worried more if it was making it look new and ripping people off.
Thank you! Yeah, it was nerve-racking making the changes, but I'm happy with it!
Beautiful job. You are a master of detailing. It will really help me out with my builds. Thanks
Awesome, thank you!
Looks amazing Brian. Brilliant idea. I have a scout walker which I have played with so much as a kid. want an awesome way to bring it out and enjoy it as an adult. Thanks for the idea and inspiration 👍🏻
YES! Can't wait to see what you do Richard!
You truly brought this toy to life!!!! Amazing!!!
Thank you!
@@TheSmugglersRoom you are welcome 😊
SO freaking Organized !! no i'm not jealous at all !! Lol Awesome Build !!
Glad you liked it!!
That was cool man! Good job, I got a slave one project in the works, I liked the rubber cement trick, thanks for the tip!
Thank you
I love the mix of projects your doing, I have an old ESB Airspeeder toy that needs a repaint.
Thank you Brandon, that is so great to hear. We were really hoping that the variety would be good. We have so many ideas!
Another great video! I've tried toothpaste for masking too, without much success. Mustard actually works pretty well, but my go-to is always been latex masking fluid. Using rubber cement is a great tip!
Me too! Latex has been my jam. Rubber cement totally does the trick. Good to have in your back pocket!
I really like this! I've never had much interest in perfectly mint in box collections. And I love how you have customized your childhood toy :)
Thank you. Totally agreed
It looks great!
Thank you!
I'm using your video as a tutorial on how I'll paint mine. Keeping it stock and original is really tempting but damn that looks amazing! Well done!
I figure if you're the collector who's appreciating the piece, you can do whatever you please with it. :) Great work, Brian!
Absolutely! Thank you!!
My heart stopped when I saw the dremil disc and bandsaw... then I liked the Boba Refresh you did. Awesome build... no different then painting the kit model.
I think you're going to need more juice lids for your collection. 👍🏼
LOL, I was worried I had enough kids 🤣. Thanks for watching!
proper nostalgia . takes me right back to my own childhood playing for many hours with this toy . my fav ship. glorious stuff
Thank you!
Use the salt and hairspray method!!!! It works awesome!!! Can’t wait to see more room builds and want see your flight suit.
Thanks! Great tips!
love the 2 tone green paint job
Thank you!
AWESOME!!!! I absolutely love it! This is such a great video and a huge inspiration. Thanks for sharing and I’m so excited to watch the progress on your room build! 👍
Thanks so much!! Likewise for your work Jason!
That looks really good dude. Love you've taken one of you childhood toys and made it look amazing.
Thanks a ton! Appreciate you watching bud!
Excellent work and outstanding commentary
Thank you so much 😀
Great custom and wonderful ideas!!
Thank you
Another great video! Thanks so much for sharing your passion for Star Wars and your talents!
Thank you for the kind words!
YES!!! Boba definitely would approve! 😀
Great build!
Thank you 🤗
This is SO awesome. I found my old one of these recently and moved across the country, couldn't throw it out. Don't have much room now, but I might just have to try the same (it'll never happen tho, so if anyone wants it...)
Unbelievable work !! well done.
Thank you!!
Most excellent, sir Brian.
Thank you kindly
Love your work. Another great piece to display. I like the way you did your weathering.
Thank you very much!
Honestly I love how you modified slave 1 I think it looks far far better now after you modified it
That’s incredible!! Awesome job 👍🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome job love the panel lining! You’re a lot braver than I cutting into it. I may have to step out of my comfort zone sometime later this year!
You can do it! (he says after he struggled with the same thing before starting). It was stressful, but so rewarding!
Ooo that is so amazing I love it now
Awesome! Love the look of it
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant truly inspired thanks for sharing 👍
You are most welcome, thanks for watching!
Wonderful project!
Thank you
Cool refresh on the ship! I have my childhood Slave 1 that I am keeping rough and one to play with if any kids (or 40yr old friends) visit. But I also have a nice display version.
I think for anyone upset by you modding this one, just remember it’s not like this personal toy was ever going to be in the marketplace.
Thank you! Exactly how I feel. This one is mine and it will remain that way. Thanks for watching!
Awesome piece of work.
Fabulous.
Thank you very much
That came out amazing, I had slave 1 as a kid as well, but have no idea what happened to it (along with all my Kenner SW toys). The thing is, I collect the 1:12th scale figures as an adult but never even considered getting an old school SW ship and modding it like this, such a great idea, and so well done!
Thanks so much! you should try it. It was incredibly rewarding!
Loved this build!! Another great use of a juice lid. Hope to see more builds like this.
More to come!
Kenner indeed did toys who pass the test of time, that Slave 1 is from 1980, I have it on Xmas with Boba Fett and boy I play with hours and hours , I still have it , I did some paint and restore job on the ship and missing black ramp , great job on the toy !
Love it! Thank you! I have several others that certainly need an upgrade, my millennium falcon to name just one ;)
I just bought a Jango Fett version off eBay. It’s missing a wing but otherwise decent, really low price. I’m going to do a Former Stormtrooper/ hired gun ship build… some time after the Empire collapsed , maybe he found it in a junk yard some where … a one off rough rebuild of sorts. Your video is really helpful , thanks
Great video man. Love the end result, the narration, and some good tips in there too!
Thank you
Oh man, this is totally my jam! Great video!!!
Thank you! So glad you liked it!
it never fails to amaze me how much I love your videos and you just made another amazingly cool one . . . Thank you !
Wow, thank you!
Nice, now I want to do one for myself
Another one out of the park!! Love giving new life to a great piece. I so want one now!!
Thank you!!! It was a lot of fun.
Awesome Build, Brian!
Thank you so much!
Amazing work! The way the green sections turned out is fantastic. You addressed your reasoning for modifying this very well and hope to see you do more of these in the future.
Thank you! You certainly will see more!
I think my dude and wow counter just blew up I said it in my head so much ! Incredible stuff ! Dude ! Wow!
Absolutely amazing. As always!!
Thank you
Wish I had some of my 'collectables ' from when I was a kid, but I don't think I would have the courage to modify them like you did. Great job!!! Seen you soon on your next project
Thank you! It was pretty stressful, LOL. But I am glad I did it!
So rubber cement acts as that masking liquid stuff! Good to know!
Always learning something new & cool from you
Thank you! Hope that tip helps!
You continue to inspire. Great work.
I appreciate that!
Sorry for multiple replies lol I just love this stuff! It turned out awesome! I have struggled with giving my 2008 legacy falcon the same treatment... its quite the risk!!!
("But the reward would be...")
Go for it!!! Upgrade it!!!
Looks great! Especially two shades of green (I'm stealing that😁). Hope your channel is going to "explode" this year!
Thank you so much! Steal away!!!
It was a jewel before and you turn it in something even more beautiful, amazing job as always 👏👏
I'm looking in a different way, as a possible projects, my old X-Wing and Vader's Tie fighter 😉
Thank you!! Yeah, we have a ton more to “upgrade” 😜
Wow that turned out great
Thank you!
Fantastic.. well done .. it’s your toy and you’ve improved it !
Thanks a lot!
When you took the band saw to that I was like Noooooo! But it came out really neat. Looking at all the panel lines I wondered if you've seen the recent Adam Savage video where he showed how spaceship panels are crafted, definitely worth a watch.
Love me some Tested!!!
@@RandomStuffGarage619 As a machinist some of the things he does on machines makes me cringe a little, but so many things to learn in many of his videos.
@@quixoticjedi942 oh dude when he almost tore off his hand on the lathe while cleaning it?! Yeah that was sketch!!!
But yeah his show is great and both of these two are very inspirational to watch!
LOL! I figured the Band saw would be the pucker moment for everyone! Yep, the styrene tutorial Adam Savage recently did was great! He has another one under his "One Day Builds" that he scratch builds a Mobius drawing for Acbar, really fun to watch.
