I'd say it's because this isn't how you'd adapt Avatar. I left a comment about it already, but I'll try summing it up. They can't take a show and make it a game. It won't work. The mediums are too different. Sure, you can take the plot and make it cutscenes, but the gameplay would screw with the pacing. Or just feel forced because of the fact that it's thrust into the middle of the plot. The only thing that actually matters. They have the world, the lore, the powers. They don't need to prey on nostalgia for an Avatar adaptation. They need to capture the spirit of Avatar, and they don't need the existing cast and characters for that. At the very least, they could make an original story better suited to having gameplay be such an important, prevalent part of it.

I worked a little in this game. The indie studio I was working for helped a bit and they worked pretty hard, trying to make the best of the deadline they gave (two months). Maybe Nickelodeon itself rushed things so much, this could be a decent nostalgic game if they didn't

The art for the intro looks great, really reminiscent of the Avatar comics. But it's like they literally told the illustration team on the comics to learn animation in a week.

But because it's a game, most go the route of focusing on elements that will keep players' attention, the combat will be more of a priority than comedic moments and characters talking about things that aren't story specific.
I know Greg Baldwin, the replacement actor for Iroh and Aku (from Samurai Jack), did a much better voice than this in those shows. Either he is phoning it in or they didnt bother getting him for this lol

I remember when I was younger I had a concept for an Avatar game. My game concept was they making a Avatar fighting game simulator to Legend of Zelda Hyrule Warriors where Team Avater beats up several fire Nation soldiers or a fighting game similar to Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm where different characters from Avatar's have different type moves, ultimate finishers etc.
The gamecube one is honestly my favorite in terms of playing it but it tried cashing in too quickly with only going up to part of book 2. Weird original ideas and they pretty much foreshadowed those awful mechs in Korra.
This is indeed very depressing. I don't even think the solution is all that difficult. - Don't have a single character people know and love. Let their legacies be unburdened by any potential catastrophe the game is - Give us an RPG. Some good old Xenogears-esque martial arts combo based combat. Since Avatar's magic system has martial arts baked into it, it would make perfect sense. Or an action RPG, because people hate turn based, I guess. Either way, anything party based. Even though I said "don't touch the original cast", doesn't mean you can't take advantage of the concept of a Team Avatar and have people from all around the world cooperating. - Don't touch the shows. Not just to keep them safe from whatever the hell this is. Because it's lazy. Korra made it canon that between Wan and the shows we know, there's 10,000 years of something. Do something with it. That's such a long stretch of time you can have a completely different world, with different nations, cultures, beliefs, everything. The idea of an Avatar existing and the bending would be the only real constants, if it was something set 5000 years ago. Get wacky. Get creative. Give people more content in this universe instead of just plastering characters they know and love into a blatant cash grab when they could just, I don't know, watch the show again.

I think the saddest thing about this is that if Nickelodeon really wanted to devote time and money to a genuinely good open world avatar game, it would probably be pretty sick. However, they probably didn’t want to give up any money before the Paramount+ era, and now they’re probably forced to hold back because while it’s certainly got its subscribers Paramount+ is surprised surprise not the Netflix they expected it to be, so we probably won’t be getting that anytime soon.
There is a UA-cam Channel Called Elca Gaming They Are Making a Fan-Made Last Airbender Game on Dreams(Remember Dreams? Yeah me Neither) But The Game Actually Looks Amazing, it's An Open World, They Even Got The Voice Actors from the Show. AND you can play as Momo so 10/10
I just watched avatar for the first time a few weeks ago, a perfect series and one of the best shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching. haven’t even finished it yet and when I saw this was coming out I was so damn excited, then I saw what it looked like and how much it was and I couldn’t be angrier that the dev would spit on the franchise like this.
What happened to games that tried? This looks like a mobile game, or could be off the PS2. Developers look at the FF7 Remake yeah it's not perfect, but it actually feels like they're trying to make it great, more like the past. I miss that time where developers put there all into pushing the hardware to it's limits, and trying to make the games as fun and as engaging as possible.

Like the portions of finding Aang in the iceberg, the portion of meeting the water tribe and earning their trust, all that stuff wouldve been good chances to add roaming segments or have playable story, but they skimmed over it. Even getting to the ship wouldve been the perfect place to introduce the peguine sledding, you know, where its supposed to be introduced

have an idea for an avatar game. Create an MMORPG you create your own bender with any of the 4 elements. Aand with time and like missions and quest you get stronger in that element. Example Fire bender. In the beginning you can only bend normal fire. With time you become a skilled fighter and bender, then unlock more cool firebending attacks, defences and counterattacks. Then at a lvl like 40 your fire can get a different color depending how you (blue flames, green flames ect. And then like lvl 60 you unlock lightning. And you do those with the rest of the elements. Story wise it can be after the original last Airbender story. Like find a partner on your journey (ex a girl/guy that in time as the story goes on you two have romantic feelings for eachother)Join team Avatar as the new person and help them change the world. Like with ever update the map gets bigger. New moves to unlock. New story added. Playing with your friends, pvp that would be an Awesome game
Does anyone else vaguely remember when Juicy Drop Pop did a collaboration with Nickelodeon and made a game with Aang primarily finding different “juicy” products around the land and fighting r a n d o s with powers it gave him?
Nickelodeon forces such a harsh deadline and charges almost full price and somehow expects it to do well. I mean, Charlie believes that them doing such a thing has literally no impact of sales, but I disagree.
