I'm watching this video again, this time 3 years later. You guys literally haven't aged at all. Must be all that living right and staying out of the city
I know this is a late posting, but, if you are camping in the Galveston/Bolivar peninsula area, remember that rattlesnakes also appreciate the dunes. Dr. Richard Henderson in the Galveston Wave reported in 2018 that " There are likely several thousand diamondback rattlesnakes that inhabit Galveston and Pelican Island." Just because this is 2022 doesn't mean they have migrated somewhere else.
Thanks for the info guys. I can’t believe there are Ticks on the beach. I thought there needed to be high grass and or deer roaming around? I hate Ticks.
Good tips - one more for you: expect WIND. You will almost always have at least some breeze created by the temp difference between land and water at the beach. So look for a protected spot off the beach and guy out your tent like it is about to take a thumping, even if the weather is clear. I've had some nights camping right on the beach that felt like a night above the tree line. Those cartoon-looking sand/snow stakes really WORK, particularly if you bury them dead-man style. If your tent is not free-standing - definitely get them before you go beach camping.
I've been waiting for you guys to do a beach camping video thank you. I usually dont take a tent, I tarp it out and sleep on a cot under my tarp. Thank u my friends
If you are ground tent camping consider cutting the bottom out of your cheap tent. No sand will settle and you'll only need a ground cloth. It can get very muggy and wet out there. It can also become a little chilly. A very light sleeping bag for some reason will keep you dry if you sleep inside it. Always camp way above tide lines and there are usually near zero bugs at of near the beach most times, so camping in the dunes is not suggested. Usually ground fires are allowed, at least in TX to use that. Acamedy sells these amazing stakes made for sand. They are bright orange and are in the camping section and work very well. Cheers! Love me some good beach camping, oh, and to avoid a sun burn, just work on that tan!
I’m from Southern California and growing up we went to the beach a lot. Think of it like you’re going to the desert. Even though there’s water it’s all salt water. You will be hot and dehydrated even if you are sitting all day. Aside from bringing your meals bring healthy snacks like nuts or fruit to give you energy. Bring shade Like a beach umbrella they are very practical. And of course at night it’s the exact opposite so bring warm blankets and your warmest sweater or coat, and a warm beanie.
I live in Cornwall UK, worst thing I’ve experienced beach camping was the time I returned to my tent after fishing to be confronted with a huge ginger rat the size of a cat, my tip is keep the tent door closed.🇬🇧
I was watching this video because I was going to bear island so when you said bear island at the end I lost my marbles. Good to know the exact challenges I'll have to deal with
Great tips. I'm surprised you didn't mention the tip about working around bad weather and being flexible. That was a strong theme around your canoe trip.
Has anyone went to corpus when the heat index is 103-106 or so ? In tents ? I’m not sure it will be a deal breaker or with the wind it will be standable any thoughts ??
Im looking for places to go camping/fishing on a beach area....im not from FL and need some advice as to where are some good places for this ANY TIPS HELP!
When you said you were on bear island, do you mean NC?? Because i live in Jacksonville NC and i go to bear island all the time. So it would be pretty cool if thats what you’re referring too. Small world and all.
Great tips... I pretty much know about beach camping... thanks God you guys lack of palm trees since falling coconuts are very dangerous... widow makers
While it limits the beaches I can camp on, I think any beach camping trips I take will be overland style out of my vehicle. No tent hassle, and overall would make the trip more enjoyable for myself. Plus who doesnt love a good offroad challenge?
Algorithm and search function working for TOGR in 2023 :)
Prepping for a California coast hike; thanks for the video!
