  • A start-to-finish guide to changing the transmission fluid on an 2.0t automatic transmission Saab 9-3. This process should be similar for 2.0t models between 2004 and 2011. The key is to have 3309 compliant fluid, this fluid can also be also marked as Saab Type IV.
    Drain plug: #90348711
    Drain plug gasket: #90348710
    OEM Transmission fluid: #93160393
    I ordered my parts from eeuroparts.com (not a sponsor)

    WIS (online Saab maintenance manual) says to check the fluid level while the car is running. I missed that the first time and I checked while the car was cold and off. My dipstick showed that it was overfilled a bit past the hot marker so I drained some fluid out. This caused my car to shift poorly and with some noise. After adding back the fluid I drained out and checking the dipstick while the car was running (but not warm, just running a minute or so after being off all night) the dipstick showed just above the cold marker so pretty much perfect, and my car is now shifting better with the new fluid and the proper amount!

    Yeah...the dipstick placement is straight wonky. Needing 2' of extentions will be me using 4 6" extensions 😅. Love your shadetree mechanic tube tied to the extension. Thanks for the video, dude!

    You can also measure the amount of trans fluid you removed from your car and replace the same amount with the new oil. I changed the oil twice, the first time then i ran the car on the road for 20 mins then changed it a second time so it diluted the oil that was left in the trans leaving a much cleaner oil in the transmission.

      @@stevepurcell5883 It's irrelevant. You add what you repace. If it's low after you do this cycle three times you can top off to the full hot line on the dipstick.

      @@migueltenorio2012 You must catch all the fluid and measure it, then put same amount taken out. Then use the dipstick to measure precisely.

    How did you get that tube back in the fill hole? Seems like that would be very difficult just having it zip tied to the extension and trying to get it all the way down into that tiny hole that is really obscured on my 9-3 by other engine parts.

    • @snwdn
      @snwdn 2 роки тому +1

      When I did this I went under the car and reached up to grab the tube and push it into the fill hole.

  • @abdomination

    What I do now to keep it simpler is I just take off the dipstick I siphon the fluid with the pump measure that use a pump to fill it right back up drive and repeat. I found it to be much easier I don't have to lift the car up I don't have to take off the drain plug and I don't get no mess.

    The power steering pump & reservoir need to have the seals changed. its dripping like crazy and most likely you have the engine oil mixed with the power steering fluid. the trans dip stick area is very oily due to that power steering leakage as well
