". . . hoping for a wealthy American collector to come forward and buy it". I think that's been the mantra for international sellers of overpriced collectibles for at least 60 years.

I owned one of the authentic SS-Begleitkommando standarte flags that Himmler's escort battalion used. I kept it in my extensive SS collection up until 2004 when a British collector "made me an offer that I couldn't refuse". The flag I owned was photographed in Holland, France, Prague and Regensburg.

I knew the American ex-soldier who captured Dr. Ernst Kaltenbrunner in 1945. Kaltenbrunner was "SS-2." This man had Kaltenbrunner's KRIPO I.D. tag marked #2. He previously also had Kaltenbrunner's #2 marked SS I.D. badge but during time he later spent in India, a Jewish man he met in a restaurant asked to see it and then abruptly vanished taking the SS-2 badge with him. He still had Kaltenbrunner's #2 KRIPO badge when I knew him. I believe that Kaltenbrunner was Heydrich's successor, so wouldn't Heydrich have been SS-2? Or if Heydrich was SS-3 as implied here, then who was SS-2 at that time?

I remember a very long time ago seeing a video on the clean up of the dresden underground after WW2. They found hundreds of bodies of those who had died as a result of smoke inhalation while using the underground as shelter (at least that’s what I remember). It’s sad, but I think it would be an interesting topic to cover. You could also talk about other similar situations where war dead were, or are, found after the conflict. Are they given military burials, are their names added to monuments if they can be identified and other questions like that.

Why would he be attracted to it? not for the "honour" of knowing its previous sick owner, not for the vehicle as a vehicle either. Then, with men still alive who were fighting the nazi's, how insulting to them would it be for someone else like a jumped up alt right attention seeking baby white boy millennial to be driving it on the streets in the US.

The Wanderer models that you refer to in the video are not 'II's, rather '11's : der Wanderer W11 12/60 PS Kübelwagen, 1. Ausführung 1935-37 and der Wanderer W11 12/60 PS, Kübelwagen, 2. Ausführung von 1937-41. Also, I believe that the particular Wanderer used by Himmler must have been produced in the Wanderer factory in Siegmar (Wanderer Werk Siegmar), which is now a part of the city of Chemitz in Saxony. This is where all of the Wanderer cars continued to be produced even after coming under the Auto-Union AG umbrella along with Audi, Horch and DKW. Auto-Union did establish a factory in the Leipzig suburb of Taucha, but it produced aircraft motors for Junkers, not automobiles. I only know this because I lived and worked in Leipzig for 15 years and often had contact to companies like VEB Junkalor in Dessau, or Siemens in Chemnitz where I learned about these things. Thank you for your great work- I really appreciate how you bring the history to life!

400 k £ was already a very steep price for a rather unremarkable and little known car model especially if you take into account that almost every spare part will have to be hand crafted.
So 98% of this price is down to the bloke who had himself chauffeured around in it.
Since no country in the world would let the buyer use Himmler's vanity number plates (and it wouldn't be advisable to use them), you'd have to be quite a crank to pay that - or even more...
