There’s a sort of funny story to how I ended up doing this solo in the first place.
I remember coming from an audition one day that I got cut from, happens to all of us, so I didn’t stress too much over it. But there was a part of me that still felt somewhat disappointed in myself, and bummed that the whole thing ended up being for nothing.
So later that same day, I went to school for rehearsals for the show, and after they ended I was waiting for my ride and was by myself, so I just decided to freestyle in the studio. So I’m dancing and what not and the artistic director/producer of the show (Liz) walks in on me dancing, and we’re chatting and she asks me if I’d like to do a solo for the show. And I obviously say yes which is how this all came to be, but the main thing I kept thinking about was how I literally just got rejected earlier that day, and doubted myself as a dancer, and then this happened..
It was so crazy, but it just reminded me not to give up on myself and my dancing so easily, and that just because one door closed doesn’t mean another one isn’t coming around the corner. Opportunities will come around, and some will be missed, but don’t give up on yourself and your passion.
