I love how much Passion band and Vertical worship are collaborating together. Both have such similar styles, but beautifully unique execution and quality in these productions. I can't wait for this entire album to drop, ever since Frontiers, I've been hungry for more

A wonderful expression of our Gods Perfect Love - it's the real thing
It's a beautiful song musically. God's love IS real, totally unique, essential and amazing! Looking at the comments I don't doubt God is using the song to comfort and reassure. Maybe this is the "Not for a Moment" track for an upcoming release. Just being honest though, this feels like all the other atmospheric, vague "God meets MY deepest needs" songs by other worship bands. "I" and "me" are used so many times. Won't leave ME, won't abandon ME, so true, but as we abandon ourselves for God's glory we are truly free. "The air I breathe" lyric is really tired and overused since Vineyard's Breathe release off Hungry in 2004. The line "You give without a promise of return" has much more depth and makes you think.Nice! There is mention of the cross, but it's not as clear of a Gospel message than past songs. "Not for a Moment" at least mentions God's constancy, goodness, sovereignty. Compare this song to "Mercy" and it feels a bit anemic. It's missing the vertical distinction of Vertical Church Band we have so appreciated over the years because it keeps us focused on God instead of our needs. Can't wait to hear other cuts. I'm confident there will be some awesome new, God praising songs.

Someone answer a question for me, please. The second verse says, "Your grace is more than just an obligation." Does anyone listening to this song legitimately believe that God has an obligation to humanity to be gracious? Just want to know some of your thoughts.

God gave His only Son to die for ALL humanity.

That is the obigation, the Grace, for His creation.
Hold on a second...Are you seriously telling me that Christ died for all humanity from the beginning of time? I really hope that's not what you're saying. Christ did not die for people who were already dead. And I also think if you want to make the case for unlimited atonement, then you need to consider Romans 8:29-30. Only those that God calls will be saved. Any commentary you open would say that ALL God predestined will be called. And ALL that God calls will be justified. And ALL that God justifies will be glorified. That's a different discussion. But you didn't answer the question. Nothing done out of obligation is love. That's not what love is. You cannot possibly think for a second that God has any obligation to give you anything or that you deserve anything. That's why it's called GRACE. And the objective of mercy is that it can only be given when it is undeserved. Otherwise, it isn't mercy.
This is a poor choice of words by Verticle Church. So many of these churches are so fixated on what God offers us and what He did for us. It has never been about us. The purpose of scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, is to point to the importance and necessity of a Savior. I think the end of the second verse also needs to be explained, but at face value, I think it can be linked to this selfish, self-centered gospel message. Do we really "belong" in "Heaven's Destiny?" Perhaps the word "belong" could be understood in many different ways, so it's hard for me to truly understand what Sean actually means when He sings that. If he means that believers now have a sense of belonging because of Christ being the substitution for our sins and taking the punishment so that we didn't have to, then I would agree with that because that is what scripture teaches. But if he means that we have some sort of intrinsic value as if Christ saw something of value in us and we, therefore, being in Heaven is some sort of right, then I would strongly disagree and deem that false doctrine.
One thing needs to be understood: Why did God save us? If you look at Deuteronomy 7:6-8 you can see that God saves because He loves, and for no other reason. Certainly not because people are special. He saved us out of compassion (Isaiah 54:7). If anything, the cross reveals the magnitude of God's love because we are weak and helpless without Him (Romans 5:6-10). It is not that we are so amazing or that we deserve anything, but that God, who is rich in mercy and grace would reach down to lend us a hand out of pity for us because of our inevitable destruction. Hopefully, we can agree on that.
I think it was actually more surface in comparison with the term obligation...think of the definition of obligation: where a person is bound to do something or "has to" be it legally or bc of whatever commitment, well I believe the verse is simply implying that He is not extending grace to us bc He is "bound to or has to be committed", but instead He desires to do so AND that concept is so Beautiful to just think of...we are NOT so great that should nor is he bound to do so, but He does it bc he chooses to.
