Fans are not happy that Young Sheldon has been cancelled and neither are the cast members. When CBS broke the news that "Young Sheldon" would be ending after Season 7, fans were devastated. Young Sheldon himself actor Iain Armitage was saddened by the news and took to social media saying an emotional goodbye. But not all cast members have taken it lightly. Annie Potts who plays meemaw on the show was shocked and said the cancellation makes no sense. Forgive me, but I don't know. If a show is starting to drag or lag or have a lack of stories or whatever, then you kind of see it coming. We were totally ambushed by this. I was, anyway. Said Potts in an interview. What do you think of the cancellation of Young Sheldon?

People need to stop saying it was “canceled” the show was about YOUNG Sheldon and his family. Now, the actor is getting old, the father in canon has died, and he’s leaving his family to go to Caltech. Where else do people expect the story to go?
Georgie helps Mary and Missy. Connie and Dale help Mary and Missy. 1 scene a show where Sheldon fumbles through college and grad school. It's Malcolm in the Middle style all over again. No crappy laugh track. That would have been nice for 3-4 years.

@@TheRoronoa_Zoro The only good story most of the last 3-4 seasons was Georgie having a son and dropping out of school other than that last good shedon story was him getting into college. The whole germany thing was just annoying and mainly he is just an entitled brat that gets what he wants Missy is pretty winey about not getting attention, mary is a church freak who fights with the neighbor who flirts with her husband. Season 6 ended with the tornado, which was the most exciting thing of the season (other than Georgies story as mentioned before), and season 7 was great.

They didn’t cancel the show. If you watches Big Bang Theory, you would know that around the end of Season 7, Sheldon turns 14 and George Sr dies. This is around the beginning of the Big Bang storyline.

@@swirledworld340 not at all what he meant. He meant the flashbacks and stories of Sheldon become much more frequent past the time that his father passes away, which the show would need to recreate. Yes there still would be some leeway, but not nearly as much if they want to follow the BBT lore.

I feel one more season addressing how the family were in the wake of George’s passing would’ve sufficed. Like it was a huge storyline in BBT that Sheldon thought everyone was coping fine but in fact everyone was actually protecting him. Seeing this in action would’ve been so much better than just cutting it off.
George and Mandy's show can handle that.
There's a set up for it during the run up for Shamy's wedding. Georgie told off Sheldon for leaving him to handle Mary and Missy after George died. That opened a door for a lot of story that can be told.
Gilmore girls ended at 7. Then 10 years later they had to do a series. Which still closed on a cliffhanger
I thought it would end going to the apartment. Seeing the drama from the previous tenant. And that would tie into BBT.
I think they have a once in a lifetime chance to literally end where BBT started.

Yeah but that wasn't really the same, that cancellation was actually a surprise and there wasn't a full story that was already told that kind of gave that story a set ending.

It didn't get canceled. Chuck Lorre ended it himself because young sheldon was never supposed to past the age sheldon went to caltech. Sheldon moving was the end of him being "young" Sheldon. Not to mention, George also HAD to die around the same time, and the show couldn't go on like that.

I read that they were contracted for only 7 seasons, so not sure why no one expected this. Unless they figured it would be extended.
When we were talking about a new 🆕 game the other day we were discussing it and it seemed pretty unique to us because you can see how different each of us was and then I thought it would make the experience a little more interesting 🧐 because the game

The series has been wildly successful. It has been on the top 10 most watched series for its entire 7 seasons. The series has been proven that it's not a one night Wonder. I think some of the casts were hoped their contracts would be re-newed.

I feel like the recent episodes of the show haven’t been as focused on Sheldon anymore, so it makes sense that they’re ending it. They’re making a new series centered around Georgie and Mandy and there’s a good chance we’ll still see the other actors in it

@@marthaworc7873The spinoff gets them out from under BBT canon. When Jim Parsons approach Chuck Lorre with this concept, both thought it was a fantastic idea. It was later that they realized they were either trapped doing a show on rails, or had to change much of BBT history. For a while they considered making it an alternate reality show, but too many people were invested in pre-BBT Sheldom. It got to the point that Young Sheldon got sidelined to other cast members storylines just to keep the show running while remaining faithful to the Sheldon story arc. The other Coopers, sans George Sr. were just passing characters in BBT. So this allows them the freedom to do a more expansive show without all the BBT/Sheldon baggage having to be dragged along.
Ppl really want a show to get ruined rather than let it end on a high note.

Yeah I agree. Also this way it leaves open the possibility of future products if anyone is creative and brave enough to try to tell the rest of the families story somehow. It doesn’t even have to be a TV series. Books, graphic novels, movies, games. Lots of “canon” left to be written.

Honestly young Sheldon ended perfectly. Sheldon was off to Caltech so his story ended, I saw they want to make a show about Sheldon’s brother and his life after everything goes on which I think is a great idea.
it’s just, they left out SO many things. Paige wasn’t in the season at all, Dr. Sturgis wasn’t in the season at all, so many things got left unsaid.

HBO did this to GOT for their last season as well and when things are rushed you don’t get the product we fans want. I mean the show has been around for 7 seasons, the show can’t go on without George and Sheldon is moving on. The show isn’t really “canceled” more or less that this chapter of Sheldon’s life is done. In TBBT ep with Georgie he tells Sheldon all the things he had to deal with after he left for Cal Tech. Making it clear that Sheldon rarely came back at all and that things were completely different after George’s death for everyone. I loved the show, but the ending was perfect.

I watched the last episodes last night, and did I ever cry. I was the same age when my father died and it just hit so hard.
I’m sorry. Not sure where I expected the plot to go but it has been such a great story and so well written. We will all miss it and hope for other connected projects.

Anything can happen, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Mary Tyler Moore had 3 spinoffs, Rhoda, Phyllis and Lou Grant. 1 was a hit. If Mandy and Georgie crashes and burns it could still happen.

Young Sheldon is the prequel series which shows the life of Sheldon Cooper, one of the most beloved and famous characters of Big Bang Theory, when he was a child. It was well established in the Big Bang Theory that Sheldon's father dies when he was 14. They could not chnage the lore. It is a great ending and emotional ending where Sheldon's dad dies and Sheldon goes to Caltech.

I'm 70 years old. I LOVED this show. It had humour, sensitive subjects, normal family experienced.
I think it was more popular than Big Bang. All though I loved that show as well, but preferred Young Sheldon.

I do think that it has a little bit more to offer. Maybe like one more season but that's pretty much it. But the way they already had that last episode there's no turning back kind of thing. It would kind of ruin the ending of the show but I do think it kind of sucks and I don't like the fact they're making a spin-off for Sheldon's brother where it's not going to. As far as I've heard, not going to really play into what his brother described of him needing to really grow up and be there for his mother and for Missy and everything
@@DrAwesomeGameri think we will see that, but this is the only way to keep writing the show in general. This also allows the writers to be able to not be written into a corner. We know from BBT what happens and pretty much when so can’t really keep writing a show where the mIan character has to be written off. So you do a spin off to escape the confines of the pre existing story
I loved the show but i think its the right time to stop as the main character's voice is now lower than the og Sheldon, and the cutoff should be at when he goes off to calteck because that's when he really separated from his family for a long time till Georgie came back in BBT and told him the reality

Viewership declined every season after season 2. Last season had half the viewers of the peak season. Producers could care less about story line but they care about making money.
