  • The amazing animal welfare officers at the RSPCA have been called to a flat in horrendous conditions. A frightened Staffordshire bull terrier called JD has been tied up to a radiator and left to starve. The officers can't help get emotional over the awful condition poor JD is in.

I have a rescue staffy that was found in the same if not worse condition as JD.
She was found in an abandoned home, teatherd as absolutely emaciated 😢.
Mia is my world now just as I am hers. I couldn't have asked for a better dog. We saved eachother in so many ways and I am blessed to have her by my side ❤

Many dogs come all the way to their owners and try to sleep with their bodies attached to their owners. This is not because they want you to do something for them, but because they feel safe around their beloved owners and want to be near their owners. Some dogs will discreetly take a position where they can see their owners from a little distance. Some will even climb on top of their owner's legs or body, or go out of their way to position themselves in an inconvenient place. In particular, sleeping at the feet of their master shows trust and loyalty. When you see your dog sleeping curled up at your feet, you can't help but love him. In some cases, it may be a sign that the dog is trying to protect you.🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶💖💖💖💖💖💖

My pupper will sleep curled up or even spread out across my chest/belly! If he gets too cold he curls up in my heated blanket with me! He has done it since he was a pup!
I also have a couple cats who will do the same thing, that is if the pupper gives up some space!
I also have pain issues and if I'm in a flare up, they all come and snuggles me. It's a huge part of my pain management toolkit!
I wish I could post pictures!! They are all such loving snuggle bugs!!

It truly breaks my heart to see these babies as they're being rescued but Thank God for the rescuers. Truly heart warming to see how they survived. I have a rescue who was chained to a tree as a puppy and abused for sport. When I think about how he started life in that cruel world, I am absolutely angered beyond words. He is now my great protector (literally) just because I showed him a little Love. Oh for the ways and means to rescue a many more of these babies.

My dad (who seduced my dog away from me) sleeps with 'his' dog in his arms. He started it to keep me from repossessing her in the night, now it's become a habit. If I come into the room she gives a little warning growl and I just back out. Needless to say yet I say it anyway, the last time he went home, she packed her tiny little backpack and went home with him to the mountains of Oregon. Traitorous wretch!! But you shouldn't stand in the way of a true love story!

JD looks so much like my boi (in the thumbnail) that I had a hard time seeing him in that condition. I know people think of staffies and AmStaffs as ‘dangerous dogs’ but it seems to me that (at least in the US), they’re the dogs most likely to be abused, ill-socialized, and neglected. I don’t know why. Here in the US I think the stigma means these pit mixes are cheap to acquire, so people sell them (often way too young) for cheap cash to people not knowledgeable or financially stable enough to properly care for a dog.
I didn’t care much about the breed of dog I had before I got my AmStaff. I was determined to adopt a dg out of the shelter, and since most other breeds are removed by rescue organizations, the shelters are full of this type of dog, so I ended up with one. He’s a perfect gem, and I’ve since met many other wonderful pit mixes - I doubt I’ll ever get any other type of dog.

My husband had an EOD dog before he retired. He had started training with a thoroughbred shepherd who failed training. A friend went to the pound and found KC…a mutt…who was brilliant. Although he was teased about her by the other officers she outperformed or equally performed with the best and brightest and very expensive dogs. I used to help with her training…hubby would hide explosives in a room and would take her through the search. She was so fast! One of the important traits in such a dog is okay drive. KC would do anything for a game of fetch as a reward. She lived to a ripe old age thoroughly spoiled by myself when she retired.

I'm pausing this 7 minutes in to give my 2 cents about why his eyes are red. Strangulation.
Our 2 dogs got tangled in their leads while tethered to one of those high run wires. One was fine, the other had been choked so tightly that by the time she was freed, her eyes were red and slightly swollen. When I saw how tightly the Staffy's chain was on here, I immediately thought of that day when one dogs over enthusiasm nearly killed the other. How someone could leave that poor baby like that, knowing how uncomfortable and unnatural it is ... I'll never understand. We couldn't get that collar off of our dog fast enough! And they were never tethered like that again.

This makes me think how many cats live in disgusting conditions, like these poor dogs. Cats may not leave the house , are not as loud as a dog barking, may not be recognized in poor condition by neighbors. In the house the police spaniel and the other dog were rescued, there was a cat tree. Did the spca rescued the cat or cats, too?

I am in shock! To work as a sniffer dog Ted has to live as a farm animal: outside in a kennel with straw? Because he could be called to work in cold weather in the middle of the night? In what sick mind has this idea sprouted? Dogs who live inside homes with their humans have excellent scent skills, are healthier and happier, even happier to work for their humans/handlers. Gun dogs who live inside homes are pretty eager to run for hours in rough terrain in all kind of weather and stay healthy. It's as if they "park" Ted in an an evironment with very little sensory enrichment and no affection and only allow him interesting activity and affection when he has to work. I don't buy "he has to rest", "he's part of the family" and "he's your best friend": it does not match! This a cruel and outdated view of animals as machines - never thought it would be that of modern UK police. How can these people have 3 dogs as pets in their home and 2 locked in outdoor kennels? All 5 dogs have exactly the same physical and mental needs, the same need for affection. Recipe for a police dog: lock him alone in an outside kennel, get him out to sniff, give him affection when he finds something. Sometimes take him out to play with your pet dogs and lock him back in his outdoor kennel, while your pet dogs get back home with you. What's in these people's minds?

When are we going to start treating cruelty to animals as the crime it is? Psychologists have been saying for years that animal cruelty is a precursor to abuse and/or murder of humans, so either luck them up in jail or in a psych ward, but lock them up and quit giving out fines or a month of community service. I abhor people who hurt animals.

They should just get the police and finish it. She obviously is not able to take care of the dogs properly and she drove off when she saw them. Priority is the dogs not the Owner who is unable to make a decision that is in the best interest of the animal.

So the police are allowed to abuse Ted? I know of MANY police dogs and not ONE lived outside in a tiny unheated prison. Disgusting. The reason she keeps Ted outside is that she has other dogs. She obviously has too many dogs to care for properly.

I don't agree with dogs working & living outdoors. Sorry. Especially, little dogs like that. He should be in someone's home, with cuddles & love.

I’m not sure why I watch these, I hate the owners every time. I also feel horrible for the rescuers who enter the pet waste areas.

Government needs to update the penalties for abuse to animals. Generally they get a fine, jail sentences should be a given or a course set up to change the humans behaviour. There should be a national database that accrues names, secondary contacts etc. Harsher penalties and banning ownership period. We need this now.

Yes, public database. I cannot believe some of these abusers are allowed to own dogs again after a year. Nothing will change a person who can be so cruel to innocent animals. My heart gets sick seeing innocents put in harms way and intentionally by the owner. Don't get an animal unless you are willing to sacrifice for him or her. I've seen homeless people in city streets treat their pets better than some of these people. Ugh.
