I guess I had forgotten that this home was built new because it just seems to have been in that location for several generations. And, personally, I love that this home is not open concept. I’m a traditionalist, and I prefer to have rooms, not just a vast open space to decorate. My antiques also fit better in a home with individual rooms.
The bad scale, proportions (02:50 not really) and over-ornamentation are all indicators of a new build. Some modern architects don't study classic architecture carefully enough and usually get these 3 key areas wrong.
Love you Ivy and thank you to the architect that understands open floor plans are not the end game. Different rooms and privacy are more interesting for sure!
We visited the Idea House this year. It was fabulous! People in Kentucky entertain a lot and this house was a perfect fit. It was beautifully decorated and I loved the hidden doors.
I love this home and everything about it. My favorite area would probably be the kitchen and that wonderful pantry. I'm glad to see separate spaces and not an open concept. I could walk right in and live here!
i was born in 1964 and in 69 we moved from d.c. to scarsdale n.y. this home reminds me of some of the homes i went to on my friends from elementary school birthdays. the only problem is that this place is just way too small, like a baby junior mcmansion. the size of this place really turns me off........
When you have open spaces you are more likely to have a messy open room that looks worse. Just because you have kids doesn’t 8:06 mean they get to destroy the whole house or are you raising pigs? We could play as kids but not like the overkill today’s kids have. You don’t have to watch them every second unless they are very young, teach them to pick up their own stuff my mom did.
Are you so fragile that an opinion about open floor plans destroys you? A lot of people are saying open floor plans are harder to live in when the whole family is home because of the noise level. Southern Living is only echoing an increasingly common thought. Your mileage may vary - if you like open plans then go for it.

Good point about the antique

Love ❤️ Ivy’s flowing longer dress!😊
The house was beautiful, great for entertainment, and the layout was good.
Best SL home. Looks Southern and appropriate for the area.

Glad you like them!
Love this home.
Love this house. It is so nice to see a new home without the open Floorplan. So tired of every room being in one room.
Love your style it is beautiful
Beautiful but who cleans these properties inside and out ? So huge to maintain !!
Thanks, miracle whip
Are there list of retailers / makers of the furnishings, fixtures, paint to know where to buy these things?

Meh
Highly annoying intro music ... yo’all lost me there. And it kept on going
We Americans have too much furnishings, pictures, objects, and junk in our homes. It’s too much
After Covid the open floor plan might not be such a great idea? I'm stunned at the ignorance of that statement. You lost me...bye.
Tacky
