Layzie Bone Recalls 2Pac Defusing Verbal Fight with Suge Knight in Cleveland

  • Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rapper, Layzie Bone recalls having a brotherly and/or fatherly relationship with Eazy-E, who had him at loss for words when the two met. Even when the late rapper's schedule was hectic, he still managed to make time to meet with Layzie. "It was like really, really close." He said, "He had to spread his time out a lot, but for him to personally come get me and share different things... he was mentoring me."
Further into the interview, Layzie details having a run-in with Suge Knight while in his hometown. Fortunately, Layzie says 2Pac defused the matter before it turned ugly.
"Suge tried to punk me out. I said 'look here n****, you in Cleveland, you won't get out this mother*****.'" He told DJ Vlad, "But luckily, Pac was still living. So when Pac came in, he's like 'Oh, these my n*****, these my Thugz.'"

I went to that concert at Gund Arena (now The Q) in CLE in 95-96 with Pac, DPG, Scarface & Mystikal. Face didn't show up because his flight got snowed in. Pac was on stage threatening somebody in the crowd who was throwing ice. Mystikal performed with white mink coat on and did some Michael Jackson moves while rapping. Everybody was smoking blunts in the arena. Was a great night. Never knew Pac would be gone soon after. Damn is miss those days in Hip-Hop. So many different styles of rap and most had substance with no auto-tune!

That 'Family Scriptures' LP Mo' Thugs did back in the day was too tough. I know it's still tough now. I need to go back and listen to that jawn 'cause it's been awhile. S/O to Layzie and the rest of the Bone Thugs! Legendary status.

Greatness. Your work covering these men is highly superior, DJVLAD. And highly appreciated. Praying much success to your efforts for giving them an extended voice. You platform is a necessary, deliberate, & thoughtful/powerful vehicle. May God increase what you do, and keep this medium of positivity going. In Jesus name'...Amen!

+Big Dawg I always liked the original version of Crossroads more than the popular version, but then I started preferring the popular version more but now I'm kinda on the fence. Somdays I'll say OG Crossroads, somedays I'll say remix. I don't think it's fair to say it's not melodic enough. Yeah the remix was way more melodic, but the OG version was definitely melodic too. The OG Crossroads was a little more gloomy though. Like it's just a little bit darker than the version that blew up.
