    Hey guys, I've seen a couple people commenting that I 'should've' known this song was a remake. I have never heard of the original nor did I see this press release that has been mentioned. I review music as stand alone pieces of art so I personally don't see how it is relevant to this review. I understand that you may not have liked my critique but I stand by them now knowing that this song is a remake of an older song.

      Then your review is invalid, kinda. No offence.
      You can't just throw away the meaning and history behind ANY song. Artistic thought and technical aspects flow together in music. Making a "review" without both important parts is invalid. You can have an initial reaction without any prior knowledge but it's not a review. Moreover, when you later get to know the story of the song, don't just make up excuses and still call it a review. You can have a first opinion on a standalone song. But it's just a reaction based on your preferences, not in any way "critical review".

      Just because it has an original doesn't make the remake song better. You can hate the original and like the remake or like the original and hate the remake. They are both two independent songs that don't rely on each other. Just because the original was popular doesn't makes this song equally good or boast it up.

      That's the thing, it's not a stand alone piece of art. It doesn't make sense to review it as one when it pays homage to an original. I also feel like you don't really understand the conventions behind the hip hop genre very well to make a fair judgement.

    • @Breauner
      @Breauner 5 років тому +3

      nobody has an issue with your critique in itself, youre completely entitled to not find this song all that great. lots of people dont like it. and even if you knew the context, you still probably wouldn't have liked it, which is fine. but the way you dismissed the broader context of the song, genre, and culture this remake is paying homage to does a disservice to the original artist and her culture and, in my opinion, prevents you from being able to fairly judge the song, even if you choose to treat it as a standalone piece. i really do respect your opinion and expertise but you cant deny that context shifts perception and in this case cultural context is the foundation this track was built upon. i dont believe you can form a fair opinion without understanding that foundation.

    This song and video is filled with nostalgia for sooo many people from their childhood and for JHope and BeckyG too
    . They payed homage to the 2000's song of the same title by Webstar, it was huge back then. So its like remake

    I see what you mean by the uncessary pop, but I feel like these days we just get the same beat through the whole song and this song the way they changed it has transitions is kind of fresh in my opinion, has a lil bit of everything and not just jam out with the same rythym

    Totally agree about the first transition. But after listening to it a couple of times it kind of make sense and blend well? But I still isn't my coup of team.
    Disagree with the Becky part bc that is the kind of flow Latin artist have so I think she was on point.

    I think those of us who knew the older song will like this more. It's an unapologetic bop, and we have the emotions and memories wrapped up in it, and then you throw in JHope and BeckyG… It's gonna be HUGE here in the US. I'm not disagreeing with you about some of the transitions, but most people will just overlook that, and enjoy the beat and the memories.

    How could you call yourself a music critic if you have not done your research but still you dare to judge the title of the song and the chorus. Young cat let me tell you, the title and most of the lyrics you heard and "critized" were from the original song and there is a message behind "Chicken noodle soup" done by Webstar and Young B, and now by J Hope and Becky G. This remake is trilingual, you should even translate the lyrics before you judge.

    I love the song because of the meaning of it and it represents how far Hobi has come, and its very meaningful to me as an OG BTS fan who has been Hobi biased since the beginning (partially because of his dancing abilities). Its also a fun and unique song thats different from what they've released before. But if I weren't a BTS fan I probably wouldn't listen to it again I have to admit, could have done a much better more seamless job with the song if it were produced better (the original song is a bit of a difficult song to work with though). Other Army, he's not just a reactor he's a music critic and is judging their music seriously, he's allowed to not like it. I also often have criticisms of their music, I love BTS to bits but doesn't mean I think they're perfect. I prefer to watch someone like this who knows music than a generic reactioner who just likes everything they hear. Whether he knows the original song or not doesn't change the criticisms.

    I personally loved the transition that Becky G added to the song. It broke up the song and gave it a different vibe. I love the pop aspect that it gave. I, however, can respect your opinion that you don’t like it. What works for some don’t work for others. I found the remix of this song to be remarkable. Jhope did an excellent job in my opinion working with his experts.

    I agree that the transition feels kinda odd, doesn’t fit well. It would’ve been great if the vocal melody (Becky) creat for other pop song tho, I like the hook. I’m not feeling the chorus as well. It just feels......meh cause it’s repeatable. I am a fan of BTS and JHope tho but this song kinda disappoints me (might change my mind, if I listen to it often?). Just being honest. Also, this song is a remake. I was hoping for originality and something new :/

    You are correct, this is a remake of an old song from around 2006. J-Hope and his team changed it a little bit music wise as well as lyrics.

    Honestly I just can't bring myself to like any of Becky G's parts, just my personal tastes :/ i like her input in the "I let it rain, I clear it out" part tho, her voice sounds very nice, but I wish her parts would have been less awkward & random tbh. However I think overall they vibe well together, it was a great collab, just a little underwhelming at some point.
