£10 Dirty Burger In England's Poshest Town
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 січ 2023
- Bath has a reputation as one of the poshest towns in the UK.. I am not a posh man, in fact I do enjoy a good portion of filth on my travels! With this being so, after admiring the stunning architecture of the city, I sourced out a gourmet juicy burger joint that is proudly independent and has been grilling since 1977.

Would you pay £10 for this cheeseburger?
Paid a lot more for some of the absolute filthy, disgustingly stunning burgers at the Vaults.....and worth every penny too! :D
@@mikewright7407 that is in another life a long long time ago 🤣
I'd happily pay that mich for that burger. in fact I have had a couple of burgers from the very same establishment back in the day. Like S Raymond says in their comment, a few fries would be a nice bonus.
It looks more like a £6 burger tbh and as below id pay £10 if it was a meal deal. We still have a wimpy up here in the next town farnborough
@@peterlaker2234 nice. haven't seen a wimpy in years.
Love the fact Schwartz Bros is still there. I was a student in Bath in 93 and loved this place ......great burgers!
Bath is a beautiful city. now I want a cheeseburger it sure looked delicious. its a bit early in the States to start my day with a burger but now I will probably eat one later today…thanks for the video & tour Wendell a great video & narration
Glad you enjoyed the cheeseburger 🍔
Spent 8 years as a student at Bath uni, loved it! Great place to live :)
8 years at uni, you must have some good letters after your name 😉
@@WendallExplores i think oxford is the most vibrant of the pretty cities
@@issness_god I’ve never been there, would enjoy a mooch around Oxford
Dont say hes charging ten pounds for burger prices gone to hell over here
Burger looked delicious 👍 And Bath is a very beautiful place in my opinion 👍😊
There are working class areas in Bath just a half an hour walk out from the city centre where the locals accents resemble a Bristolian/typical Somerset accent than anything remotely posh. Areas like Twerton (home to Bath City Football Club) and Southdown spring to mind, which are ranked in the top 10/20% of highly deprived areas in the country. Worth a visit next time you’re in the area to get a different perspective on the city.
Well said. I grew up around Bath and it's a city like any other with working class areas. It's also very friendly. It's not the poshest city by a long shot - Cambridge, Oxford, Cheltenham, York, Chester, Canterbury - all strong contenders too!
Yeah I live in Twerton
I've seen Bath on a Friday night in the late 1990s when it was heaving with drunks in the street, smashed beer glasses everywhere and I even saw full glasses of beer left on car roofs. It was May 1997. Tony Blair had just won his first term. Bath DID NOT look posh.
Nice to see you exploring my neck of the woods! Bath is absolutely lovely, lots of tourists all year round so expensive all year round lol.
There used to be a WIMPY in Loughborough back in the 70's - Loved it
Schwartz Bros is legit a true independent & focus on classic quality rather than the greasy gank you get from the American style chains. I think they’ve used the same Beef supplier for years, maybe even since the start. All I can tell you is that I’ve never had a bad burger from either Schwartz in town.
The most enjoyable part of the experience is that it felt 100% independent and authentic, which was almost more valuable than the burger itself 👌
Bath is a beautiful place with so much original Georgian architecture.
Burger looked very nice but far too expensive.
I first went to Shwartz burgers in the eighties and went there lots of times when I lived in Bath in the eighties and early nineties. Great to see that Bath has remained largely the same.
It must have been a shock for you to go somewhere nice although there are rough areas like Twerton. 😊😊😊
Spot the boarded up shop there!
Great food review there. Tyler seems like a top guy. Happy to chat which is what you want. £10 for a take away burger though, Bath must be a rich area.
Bit steep yeah but nice guys
There are many homeless, there are the two extremes.
They were one of the first burger takeaways that did amazing veggie burgers good to see they are still in the same spot in Bath. Thanks for sharing Wendall 🙏 My first Saturday job was working as a Wimpy waitress in Cardiff.
Looks very quite there oli burger looked OK I'd av one for breakfast.
Best burgers I've had in England, so pleased they still exist.
Did you try a Mr D's too? They are slightly dirtier, but a 10 min walk away
Another good video mate. If I remember right Bath it's a city. It is a beautiful place, spent a lot of time drinking there in my younger days, when I lived near by. To many tourists tho 🤣. That's why I moved to Cornwall like yourself 🤦. I remember eating from wimpy as a kid, there was one in Falmouth, opposite the end of the pier I think 🤙
Love the old fashioned burger places like wimpy
I remember Wimpy. There was one in Bournemouth- my mother took us there in the 1970s.
Wimpy the OG
The reason the architecture is so beautiful is because they are Grade 1 or 2 listed buildings.
I've been going there since the late 80s - Double with bacon and blue cheese is my first choice, although I think they're about 15 quid now...but totally worth it once in a blue moon!
£15 for a bacon cheeseburger 🫣
@@WendallExplores I'm only assuming it's about that. It's been a year or two since I was last there and let's face it, it's been a wild couple of years! I'm sure it was over a tenner back then!
Went to bath on way back from Cornwall in September first time visiting there
Was stunning did the full tourist had a good walk of the sites and lovely architecture there
Very spotless full of nice people but still had its fair share of city center issues …
Very accurate review, summed it up better than me! 👍
I literally traveled 40 mins to high Wycombe last weekend to have a Wimpy 😂
I use to work in one about 20 years ago and ain’t had one since then
Wimpy 🙏
I also could never say 'Barth'
I remember Wimpy from my youth, There was one on Beckenham high street. We rarely went there, but on the occation we did, it was always good. I have seen via other UA-camrs that there are still plenty of Wimpys around the place (maybe after they dissapeared and have been relaunched). £10 or more is a lot of money for just a burger, Even here in Copenhagen where we have no shortage of burger joints. If you ever come over Wendall, I will be glad to show you around and point you in the direction of the best and most authentic burgers and food.
I’ve just paid £14 for a burger in a restaurant…it was a good one though…my burger had sliced beef tomatoes a gherkin blue cheese..cress..and 2 slices of bacon…with salt and vinegar on the chips..then i had a raspberry crumble with crème anglaise and ice cream..the waitress then gave me a 10% discount card that i can use on future visits…everything was great the service ,ambience the warmth the fire, the food quality..a cup of tea,£6 for the dessert..takeaways have one big fault…..no puddings !
A stand up burger for £10? er no thanks..
yep in Australia we do say barth not bath. 🙂
I lived in Bath for 5 months, in one of those buildings behind 4:37, well a room in one. Bath isn't snooty, it has a vibe though because it is a magnet for tourists the world over. On the bucket list after London along with Oxford. So you don't know who you will meet up with in the pubs and cafes. The Roman Baths are well worth a visit and the Arcades. Only problem with Bath is the traffic. I don't know what it's like now.
I want to see Wendall visiting a chip shop in Wednesbury…
Can be arranged
Ooh! London Camera Exchange. I've had many deals with them in the past. As for Wimpey I remember them from way before the 90's bro. They were the hangout of my youth in the old Mod days. We thought of them as Italian chic coffee bars and there was always a "face". Did you know that Bath has the highest crime rate in the county of Somerset. Even the smart town centre gets menacing after dark! LOL!
Yeah it was pretty scratchy at night, but I guess it doesn’t take skid row LA level crime rates to be the worst in the country of Somerset 🤣
I drove past said Wimpy yesterday! Place of legends.
Love your comments on 60’s “architecture”.
Should have visited Twerton, by the Bath City ground is grim and full of charity shops.
I remember when there was a Wimpy in St.Austell. Next to Saffron Records.
Your channel is cool. Thanks
The burger looked nice but the beefy boys in Hereford is the palace to go if you want a burger! They are very pricey but oh so worth it once in a while for a nice treat!
Come and do visit on Oxford, there are one and two rough areas
Cannot beat Schwartz Bros 👍👍
Bath looks beautiful. Burger place looks great, classic.
Pretty town, bit boring though
@@WendallExplores a bit too posh?
@@ishabrown defo
That burger seemed to be of low quality for the price
All the people saying it's too expensive haven't had one 😀Also, I'm from the north east and lived in Bath for 10 years and pronounce it the same as you do. No one minded. In fact people born there don't say Barth, that's the posh folk who probably also own places in the south/east and London. The locals say it in more of soft west country accent.. Baath. ;-) If I'm ever in the area I still try and go into Bath to pick up a Schwartz burger 😋
Was a tasty burger, although I couldn’t justify £10 on that regularly. Great small business vibes though! Thanks for watching 🙏
@@WendallExplores To be fair, I moved away in 2015 (couldn't afford the house prices) The burgers were cheaper then! Same menu though.. if it ain't broke don't fix it! To compare though, I got a burger from burger king the other day, with fewer ingredients than a schwartz burger, and obviously much lower quality as well (IMHO) and it was around £8!! Great video - don't know it got suggested to me by UA-cam but glad it did!! 🙂 P.S. I used to regularly have the chorizo burger OMG I want one now!!
@@keepawayfromthetrout everything is way too costly these days, I don’t know when it will end! Glad UA-cam threw the video your way 😉
You're right, those who were born in Bath do not insert an"r"into the city name,it is the pretentious newcomers who do that.
Rather get a triple cheeseburger from maccies for £2.79 Tyler was lovely a natural infront of the camera
I remember Wimpy. I ate burgers from Wimpy in Brighton back in the 80’s - The Malaysian Emmet
I always remember wimpy being wonderfully crap
@@WendallExplores lol, very true mate
Wendall-“I’m not posh”
wears $500 Off-White sunglasses
Paid £170, know how to source a bargain
£10 definitely too much for a 1/4 pounder, but Tyler is a nice fella. Last time I was in Bath/ Barth was 1974 I think, on our way back up north from Cornwall, watched Live and Let Die at the cinema. Yes used to use the Wimpey Bar in Stockton on Tees back in the 70s and 80s, lovely.
Great video mate!
£10 could have bought a lot of wimpy back in the day
@@WendallExplores Very true
i dont do posh, i live in a posh place in suuton coldfield, but put me in a gresy spoon or a spoons and im happy
A bit rich for us working Class or not working class after corona bullcrap.
I’ll admit to being biased but for me nothing compares to a Schwartz. Bros Burger and fries. You have to remember they have been doing this for the best part of 50 years. These days burgers have gotten stupid, you shouldn’t need to wear a bib and wellies to eat a burger and not end up covered in it. The fact that a small place like Bath has supported two shops so close together shows how popular they are locally. I’ll try not to be too offended by the Wimpy comparison.
i went to Bath last year and the city was spotless, everyone was so nice and the view is incredible, I was only there for a day unfortunately but will definitely try more local cuisine next time! Enjoyed the video, keep up the good work ヾ(≧へ≦)〃
Bit different after dark but yeah a very pretty city
Bath is filthy,if you lived there, you would know.
Comparing to Wimpy sounds a bit of an insult now considering it closed in the 80's and their 'cheeseburgers burgers? were very basic - maybe wrong with dates
I love "baarth" but then I live in Oxford
Good morning~ really good !sleep well-
Overpriced for a takeaway quarter pounder
Hopefully this video will make £10 ad revenue to cover the cost 🙏
Lol you sound like an American saying bath. Love your videos.
Thanks for watching them 🙏
I think you can get a £1 Dirty Burger in Blackpool - But don't quote me on that.
Literally went there today and it was closed 🤦♂️
Bath is home to the best rugby side in the world of course. 👍😀
Bath is filthy!!
I’ve visited many places far filthier
Once again I could have been stayin at your place while you stayed at mine 🙄🙄🙄.
Lived here all my life and you’re right, you were pronouncing it wrong. It’s Baff 😂😂😂😂.
Ain’t no R in Bath my friend 🤣
@@WendallExplores 😂😂
Burger looked good.
The Wimpy burger hut just outside of Stafford has been there since 1964 - ran by the Sandy Mafia for 58 years
I haven’t heard the term ‘Sandy Mafia’ in a good decade 🤣
How can you afford a meal for you & your wife in BATH… cause I wouldn’t pay £10 just for a Burger…
Those Schwarz Burgers still there? After all the years. They were great in the 80s, nice to see the place is still open. Best take away Burgers ever in the UK. In my opinion.
It's a Cathedral not a church. If it's a city then they have Cathedrals
It’s actually Bath Abbey
Barf
✌️
🤙
Magu is better
There's a 'Wimpy' in Shrewsbury.. over priced nowadays its about £8 for a burger from Wimpy and they aren't anything special... have you ever been to Shrewsbury @WendallExplores?
It's a shame that all of the Turkish and middeleastern kebab and burger shops are so abundant as they have such high demand for this abominations of meat that is barley passed by the authorities and is very hard to actually monitor. This shop (whomever its owner) is fully aware of this and has branched out for a more healthier option it seems. Especially by the presentation. However this could also be a set up to boosts the shops sales....
Either way the burger looks better than a kebab shop,
Good synopsis 👌
To be melted cheese for a classic.... ur a div
omg that burger looks lush ....cant ..wendal....im on a diet
aaaah...tease
Looks very quite there oli burger looked OK I'd av one for breakfast.
