  • CZ600 Trail is compact bolt action rifle that was designed to be light and transportable. Collapsible stock, AR compatible pistol grip and magazines give it a more tactical look but this is also what makes it so modular and practical. This rifle is packed with features and super fun to shoot.
    The only potential drawback is that at around 2 MOA it's not a tack driver but if we consider the potential use that's more than enough.

    I agree with Ziga! And thanks for the shoutout, mate! 😄
    I love the rifle, but it's of course not perfect. If anyone is interested with what I did to the bolt handle on mine, there's a bunch of stuff on Instagram / Facebook showing it, and I'll do an update video at some point (maybe just a short to show the handle mod). You can't get 1 MOA because of the way you shoot - I can get less than 1 MOA with 69 grain match king and ~ 1MOA with 55 grain Blitz King - I have done this multiple times at 100m (110 yds) with 5 rounds per group. I agree its not a tack driver, but you can definitely get those groupings if you have good technique. For the record others have found the same, for example Chris Parkin (Chris Parkin Shooting Sports) got 0.752, 0.885 and 0.887 MOA with three different types of factory ammunition (5 rounds per group). I used a bipod as did Chris, no lead sleds or other forms of stability support. Its the Indian not the arrow. Note Chris Parkin used the 16 inch 1:7 version and I used the 20 inch 1:9 version. I strongly recommend cantilever mounts for scopes on pic rails.

      @@BlokeontheRange what bothers me the most is that i cant figure out what exactly makes it less accurate. I would imagine CZ cold hammer forged barrel is top of the line with semi-heavy profile. Receiver is aluminum but it's very thick and rigid. The stock is plastic but i have glass-bedded it and installed steel pillars - which showed zero change on accuracy.

      You'll often get 3-5 rounds clustering just due to randomness in the dispersion. I really appreciate you doing 10 round groups. It's honestly the minimum that starts to show the true accuracy of a system.
      I think if we wanted to have some kind of real standard, anyone claiming to report any meaningful, mechanical accuracy should be shooting 20 round groups, removing one, and reporting a 95% hit circle. Or you could do 10, remove one and report 90% hit circle. But I'd want to see a few 10 round groups averaged.
      Weapons and ammo are/can be so accurate now that I think one or two 20 round groups is kind of needed to actually separate them.
      Only problem is people aren't going to like the fact that *actually* getting under 1 moa dispersion is bit difficult to achieve.

    My CZ 600 Trail is sub MOA, but with very unusual shooting style - I have bipod on front handguard and I fix rifle by pistol grip and NOT by butt. And of course, not with 55 gr plinking ammo, but my own reloads with Norma .224 69gr GTX bullets.

      @PolenarTactical  4 місяці тому +1

      In all other claims i would be sceptical, but i have tested almost everything with my rifle and boiled it down to two reasons for inaccuracy - either the barrel is bad (which is hard to believe from CZ cold hammer forged) or the stock somehow makes it inconsistent.

      @@PolenarTactical I think this rifle is extremely picky about ammo. I have tried a large number of factory loads (including S&B HPBT 77gr, Norma Golden target Match 77 gr, etc.) but the best results were achieved with my own reloads I mentioned abowe - Norma 69 gr GTX bullet (65740-1), 24.2 gr Lovex D073.4 powder (V0 = approx. 860 m/s) using S&B shells. This is my SUB-MOA ammo.
      It should also be noted that I only shoot with a suppressor - I use an over-barrel Ase Utra Raiden. And scope - Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44 EBR-7C FFP MRAD with Seekins Precision 34 mm, height 1.26" (lapped).
      Interestingly, when I then put a standard S&B 55 gr (or my own 55 gr reloads for plinking) in the rifle, not only is the dispersion around 2 MOA, but the POI is shifted by about 8cm(!!!) at 100m compared to the SUB-MOA ones.

  • @CARL_093

    Range conditions were fantastic, without so much as a gentle breeze in any direction. As such, I plopped down on a bench, loaded my first rounds, and started a formal accuracy test. Being that my sample was chambered in .223 Rem., the recoil was extraordinarily mild, even without a muzzle device installed. Directing my attention to ergonomics, I found the AR-pattern grip comfortable and familiar. I liked the idea that if I ever changed my mind, I had thousands of others to choose from, as this aftermarket is incredibly vast. I was also fond of the little compartment on the underside, further emphasizing the utility theme of this package. My initial groups were about what I would expect for a rifle of this nature, but it really shined when it was fed the heavier, 77-grain Federal Match fodder. This makes sense given its fast twist rate of 1:7 inches, which generally causes a .223 barrel to prefer heavier (for the caliber) bullets. Peeking down at my chronograph readout, I did observe slower-than-advertised velocities, but at the end of the day, nothing was below a normal range for the cartridge. Moreover, let’s be honest, how often does .223 Rem. or 7.62x39 mm leave a barrel much longer than 16 inches? Sure, the Trail is short for potential, but it isn’t lacking in its class by any means.

  • @highdesertdrew1844
    @highdesertdrew1844 4 місяці тому +7

    One thing I've found, is that if you have a good muzzle brake, it can some times tighten up the groups a bit as it reduces the inconsistencies regard gas flow around the bullet after firing. It's slight, maybe .2 MOA, but it's present.

    Can you shim the stock to take out some of the wobble? i suppose even if you did it might still go against the designed purpose of the rifle which would be to just have a compact carryable rifle

    • @PolenarTactical
      @PolenarTactical  4 місяці тому +1

      Not yet but i have glass-bedded the chassis, installed steel pillars and removed the handguard for testing. I also tried to load the buttstock in the same way every time. No visible change in accuracy.
      This means that there is probably something else wrong but im not sure - it could be the buttstock or even something with the barrel or chamber - but i cant test that.
      Also CZ uses quality cold hammer forged barrels with nitride finish so that's why i never suspected it.
      The only other thing i could think of is maybe inconsistent bolt locking or something...

    I love the rifle. It looks to be everything that I want on paper, but I think I will wait for the second iteration due to the accuracy. I just can't get past the fact that it
    is a bolt action with sub-standard accuracy compared to most other quality bolt actions in the same price range.

    • @PolenarTactical
      @PolenarTactical  4 місяці тому +2

      I would say that the price range is the true problem here - for the same price you can get a super accurate bolt action rifle or a couple of cheap "scout" rifles with same accuracy but without the collapsible stock. Yes, collapsible stock is a bit wobbly but it also gives it the iconic look and light weight

    • @PolenarTactical
      @PolenarTactical  4 місяці тому

      When you take the action out of the chassis you have access to screws that adjust different things on the trigger.
      I have reduced the pre-travel to zero. So now when i cycle the bolt, the trigger is already on the wall, and when i apply more pressure it fires. I also removed almost all overtravel.
      Besides the pull weight you can also adjust the actual sear engagement but i would not recommend doing that if you are not a professional.
      After any adjustments i highly recommend you test the rifle by cycling the bolt (empty chamber) and then trying to hit or slam the rifle at a hard surface - if it fires, something is wrong. Also test the functionality of the safety.
