Dance Ejay 2 was the first software I used which introduced me to music production. That was already 20 years ago when I was 13! I still think it was the best newbie software, lots of premade samples, nothing serious just stupid fun. After some time it wasn't enough so I switched to Acid which I believe was in version 4. What a nostalgia trip.
Yeah, I tested it on XP i think and it ran better too, so I'm not about to just talk shit haha. Seems like a nice workflow to feel the nostalgia at the same time.
Your videos are always funny and interesting! You could maybe mess with the virtual machine settings to get more juice from the host computer. Maybe allocate more processing cores and memory to the vm and try ticking some boxes on and off.
Thank you! I think I alreary have the maximum amount of memory that Win95 will run on without crashing, but I'll have to take another look at the other settings as well!
@@nanospiraI Yeah I guess the OS or the optimization is the bottleneck. Well, you get to train your patience, haha! The dj daw had the most atrocious gui ever and I love it
Im in love with you..ur... channel, cause, you in the 90's i was the ONLY person making music with "EJay" (it came in different versions/not just rave.") Anyway.. I Made an album back then called "BLEN-DANCE" It was under the "House Of God" era of my journey. But, Its exactly as you depict it. That time, those options. "Protools or Logic...OR DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I then started building computers (NOT APPLE!" Cause, i hate FUCKING APPLE AND ITS SHIT BAND!!!!" (fck felt good to release that pent up anger, at a randome message on a random video, of which, i will forget, before i go on stage.(
not sure if I remember the purpose of pass through correctly, but the cpu actually had to be capped to 60% here and the vt-x/amd-v option turned off for win95 to even boot. So I don't know if pass through would be helpful in this case. Well anyway I'll look into it!
damn i started making music 20 years ago with rave and techno ejay and Acid ofc (one of the first daw)..memories :)
I used to use ejay and burn CDs and I’m 12 now. My brother showed me all of this stuff and now I’m old school.

I loved Acid! I feel old now. Using Windows 95 added insult to injury.
I have a copy of acid pro 3.0 box and all. heh I use Live because it reminds me of Acid. :) Did you ever use acid planet?
my mom used to use cakewalk in the 90s, i got her music production interest from her 😁
Really cool stuff. I like the ejay. It reminds me the Scooter productions.
Acid is rly sick, I'm pretty sure Emma Essex *still* uses it to this day

i just saw a vid of yours on tiktok and got really interested and wanted to see the vid, i dunno if the tiktok did the video justice!
Ejay, now That's nostalgic
just found a sealed ejay cd in a thrift store, gave up after 10 minutes of using it tho
Love these videos, could you make one video where you test the earliest Reason demo? If there is one 😅
I have one but I couldn't get it to run, i'll try again some day :D

Hello! DAWs out for Harambe!
I wonder if cpu pass through on a Linux virtual machine would work with windows 95
