This is one the most honest guys you can ever meet,he's full of talent and take my word for it,hes definitely good at what he does, keep getting bigger bro, speak with you soon
Maybe we can chat about that! There are a ton of videos though breaking down his writing style where they talk about how simple he writes and why he writes that way! Superrrr good watches :D
it's actually a super simple approach. not saying it's super simple to execute, but the idea is simple. he doesn't focus on great lyrics. he focuses on the sound. so sometimes one words sounds better than others for certain notes and what not. he's said that he's scratched many lyrical ideas that he thought were actually quite good and clever, but scratched them for something dumbed down that just worked better. ever since i heard him say that i've done the same. although i try to write better lyrics than him, sometimes i come up with stuff that sounds great on paper and is poetically quite clever, but just doesn't fit the song. i've literally taken witty ideas and just made stupid lyrics sound good cuz they just worked. thanks to Max :D but yeah, that's really all his technique is. the rest of his abilities is merely lots of talent.
There is an interview with Max Martin on youtube, he said, i want it to be as simple as possibe, he isnt an native english speaker so he tried to keep it simple and catchy so everybody could sing along
Austin, thank you so much for posting this video! I've just started working with Dan Grimmet to build a music production business and his previous relationship with you was a big reason I chose to work with him over some others. Please make more business oriented videos. I believe you're right, there's a huge potential market of singer/songwriters and other musicians who want high quality recordings of their music and want to hire a producer but don't know how to go about finding one. Professional ethics is also a huge topic because every artist who feels burned by an unscrupulous producer hurts everybody's business. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks man. Very interesting! I, personally, would like to see more videos about buisness side. This kind of info is much harder to find then music production tutorials.
I had a person recently call me and ask me for an entire run down of the music business and since it was a weekend and i actually had a bit of time and I do possess that knowledge and i do genuinely like to help people i spent a log time talking about many things because i thought it would additionally demonstrate my value. At the end of it this person felt so empowered that they decided they are not going to become my client and do it all themselves. (at least for now) Now I get enough work and I don't mind this terribly and I do believe they we're truly grateful for all the knowledge I gave them for free and yet some part of me felt very taken advantage of. Have you encountered this? How do/did you deal with it, if so? Also, I'd love to see more videos like this one. Great Job!
I've had that before too. There's a couple ways you could look at that... 1) Yeah, you lost the client, but you actually taught someone something that could really benefit their career. OR 2) You gave away too much info and spoke to that potential client as a peer, instead of a client. Depends what you value more. I'd say you shouldn't feel bad for losing the client. It's great that you were able to teach them something. But I'd definitely consider holding back on info (magician not revealing tricks) if you think it will jeopardise the conversion. Sometimes those clients come back anyway as they need someone more experienced than themselves.
Do you have your clients sign a Producer's Agreement requiring back end publishing and royalty percentages? I think that's what scares my clients away.
Sorry for the criticism, but none of this helps us "get more clients". These are good tips once you already have clients... but no matter my communication skills if I don't have clients. What I would like to know is HOW and from WHERE to get new clients. Do I create a website and advertise it? Do I register to a portal like Landr? Should I make educational videos like this? Any freelancer website? I tried many of these but no clients so far.
I can 100% agree with you on everything your saying in this video ! . I've been doing production and mixing as well for other producers and artist for the past year and a half. And these are all essential things I've learned . great video. Great content keep up the great work make pop music team ! for any artist interested in checking me out or just interetsed in making friends feel free to dm me on Instagram any time ! Instagram @ strvngewxrld I would love to meet more of you all and help grow the music community for the better !
I don't agree with doing work for free. But I and every professional I know got started by finding a good artist that they vibed with, and did a ton of work without financial compensation. However, they were able to put together a portfolio, word of mouth picked up, they got to hone in their skills, and it was always beneficial. I think every producer getting started should find an artist or 2 to work closely with and build their talent and brand parallel to.
One like = one pet for the cute kitty
Magically disappears and reappears!
Man, pop isn't even what I write and I still hit those notifications religiously. Such a great channel.

They should just go straight to your email but if you didn't receive it send us an email at support@makepopmusic.com
Make Pop Music ok
Make Pop Music Nvm make pop was for some reason was in my spam lol sry
Your value does not come from giveaways or free work lol. Do a great job and charge accordingly. Most of the time that will beat the competition.

Lol music producers don't have communication skills tho
Unfortunately, most do not. Haha
