They're definitely the second iteration of the band and worthy or carrying the name. They reformed in 87 with 5 original members with Gary Rossington being the last surviving in recent memory, until early last year when he passed away. Ronnie Van Zant's brother is the current frontman, Johnny Van Zant. But yes I agree, they are a great band!
@@tucaz65 I can understand that. I'm jealous you got to experience them as well as that era of music. I suppose from my perspective and as a younger Skynyrd fan that never got to experience the original, it feels better to listen to a band that plays the same music, that has roots that trace to the original band, as opposed to cover bands with no involvement. Regardless of their name. It's a shame the original members died so young.
