She sends Kelly Clarkson a gift every time she releases a new Taylor version because Kelly suggested she do it. That is class.
She isnt like Elvis or the Beatles.. or Michael Jackson. They were lead by others, did what they were told and had massive struggles. She is changing the music industry, herself and cinema releases… all on her own. The conflicts are all started by others. From the mean school girls, the mean reporters and the ridiculousness of Kanye and Kim. People need to stop comparing her. She is awesome, whether you like her music or not.
Spot on! Hopefully things will change for the better even quicker than before, it's long overdue.

I'm an old man who sat in Candlestick Park watching the Beatles perform their last commercial concert. Last night and a few others before I've watched Swift's Reputation Tour that Netflix has made available. When I do that, I see change. I see the stagecraft, the production, the amazing dancers and backup singers. And, I hear how far sound engineering has come. For me, these things are jaw-dropping. While this view is somewhat dispassionate, it is not all that I see. I don't read the Taylor Swift press. But, having spent over a decade playing music professionally across our country, I can still read an audience. I really like Swift's music and consider her to be a wonderful writer and song stylist who has a really good voice. But when looking at the audience clips during the Netflix video it is the connection that strikes me more. It's more than the costumes and the painted bodies. It is the very apparent emotional connection...the look of deep, personal introspection in response to lyrics. The audience is holding each other, jumping with each other and at times sharing tears with each other and this musical force on stage. We live in a world that is impossible to get our heads around. There is so much happening at one time that even a septuagenarian like myself can't find his center. But looking at Swift's audience, most of them young, I see people who have found a space and a place to coalesce. It is, for what it can be, and for as long as it can last, a center. Each time I have watched the concert, I have felt thanks that they have Taylor Swift in their lives. It is the same feeling of gratitude that I felt in another tumultuous time in 1966 while sitting in a cold, windy baseball stadium.

What an insightful comment. We are the same age, having grown up with the Beatles, and prior to the Beatles, Elvis in our elementary school days. Unlike you, I know very little about Taylor Swift. Not sure I've even heard one of her songs. That I've lived in Italy for 21 years undoubtedly has something to do with that. Since reading about her as she's become Time's Person of the Year, but most of all because of your comment, I intend to begin at the beginning of her career. Our music meant so much to our generation. It had a great deal to do with shaping us, both at the time as young people, and still as older people. If Taylor Swift has, by herself, given meaning to young people today in such awful times, is fascinating. I can't wait to discover everything about her. We old people need meaning too. All the hopes and dreams for the future we had when we were young have been shattered. I won't be able to afford a ticket to a concert of hers even if she were to come to Italy. I'll have to be satisfied with Netflix.

She is talented, beautiful and nice. People like her, she has the X factor that makes a star and she has a girlish sweetness to her. She’s also a business phenomenon. Every young person I know loves her. She just comes across as nice and has great chemistry with her audience

My musical tastes overall lean to the 1950’s & 1960’s. Very few from the subsequent decades have meant much more than a grunt from me. Taylor Alison Swift breaks that streak for me. The fact that she has remained with the heart that she has is an incredible bonus for me. The reason she is hated in some corners is the fact that several men have tried to take her “to her place”. And the fans fought back. Hard. This won’t happen with 99 percent of the entertainment world. We are witnessing a unique individual in a unique era.
That is exactly the reason why there are haters beyond the normal envy. She did not let the old men "put her in her place" But she did not do it alone, the "Swifties" play a big part and she knows that. She is dedicated to her fans and shows it. That, in turn, brings her more fans. And so on.

My oldest granddaughter has sung TS songs for 14 years (since she was 3), so I’ve seen the progression of songs and Taylor’s power grow. I’ve definitely become a fan myself, and I
admire her immensely. No one forced me to love the Beatles when I was a kid, and I still do. I think Taylor has that kind of long term resilience to last WAY into the future.

Writing and singer her songs thats forsure she's great at that but voice wise? She dosent hold a candle to Whitney or even Beyonce their songs are more for everyone and swift is more for girls who like poppy songs and sad love songs.

She is not worried anymore that anyone in the Music industry can harm here, she IS the music industry. She bonded with everyone that has any influence and stays on top. She circumvented the movie moguls by brokering her own 100m+ deal and is helping others (first Beyonce) to do the same. She pays her staff and helpers, she is BIG in charity, does not loose a word about it and has more diehard Swifties on command then both US political parties have members, together. You go to a 100000 people Swift event and feel SAFE.

All I could find out remotely negative is that she uses private jets. I say, YES, let her. It more then evens out, her positive impact where ever she goes can not be under estimated. I´v seen 5-70year olds at her concerts, moms, gang members, Harley riders, lawyers, cheerleader squads and geeks, side by side jumping up and down, crying and exchanging friendship bracelets. There is no other place that can happen.
My grand daughter converted me, yes, it is, for the better.
She comes to Europe next Summer, a few million tickets went online, sold out in minutes. I guess she makes her next billion here. Good for her.
