South Melbourne Market opened in 1867, making it Melbourne's longest continually running market.
With almost 150 stalls operated by small business owners, the market features a huge range of products including; fresh fruit and vegetables, butchers, poultry, seafood and delis, groceries and specialty foods, pet food and supplies, men's and women's fashion, footwear, accessories and children's wear, manchester and fabric, homewares and kitchenware, books and stationery, giftware and cards, restaurants, cafes, speciality coffee stores and take-away food, cakes and confectioneries, plans and flowers and much more.
The Market is just 10 minutes from Melbourne's city centre and is easily accessible by tram, bus, bike, foot or car.

The market atmosphere is not so crowded. So it's nice to walk there. Many sell food too, the seats are nice and comfortable. Thanks for posting this video.

Another wonderful video….this market is fantastic, easy to get to on the quite brilliant tram system, might just be in Zone 1…so maybe not free, but it’s cheap….great places to eat for a quick bite….the very best biggest bestest dough rings period…matched by the biggest and best pies….oh and if you fancy a nice holiday hat, I wear a Panama hat, Trilby style when in Australia, well a very good place to buy these are found inside near the centre of the market…..again Melbourne has to be the place to be, as the car licence plates say…although it’s really Victoria, the place to be…..oh how I want to get back…..counting the years…..sadly….again top video, thanks for sharing as I sit looking out to a wet cold Jersey island afternoon..

I used to go shopping there in the sixties when i lived in Melbourne before i shifted to Europe, very confourtable market in wich to do shopping especially on saturday Morning 12 o clock🕛
