What a breath of fresh air for the old G60. Always the bridesmaid to the Landcruiser. I bought one in 1980 to tow a 25ft. caravan which we did for 4 years travelling Oz. When I bought it a Panelbeater mate advised me to soak it in fish oil and leave it stand for a month to get the smell out which we did. The two issues with the G60 was the 3 speed gearbox and body rust. We fixed the rust issue but had to learn the 3 speed. You are spot on with manipulating the non synchro 1st gear but the torque of the 4 ltr six meant I only needed the 2 gears but when needed a swift clutch double worked well. when we finished our travels we kept the old girl for sentimental reasons but relinquished it to an avid admirer after 10 years and 150k on the clock. It was a brilliant truck and the only thing I had go wrong in the time I owned it apart from routine maintenance was a clutch slave cylinder. I don't know if you have ever noticed the 4 WD instructions on the fire wall advice the use of 4WD only for rough and SHIPPERY roads.. Love your post. It is so good to see young fellas interested in these relics.
Thanks for tuning in mate. Yep love the old G60s most under appriciated 4WD ever, as you said mate nothing ever let them down except for the Rust Issue. All the best mate 🍻
Yes, great to see some G60 content, any chance you can do a vid on how the electrical system is rigged up? I bought my one in pieces and I cant get a spark in mine. Cheers
Hey mate, I'll be honest I'm hopeless with electrical work, but more then happy to scan some genuine wiring diagrams for you if you want to send me your email. Cheers mate 🍻🍻
